We're not sure if this is a good thing, per se, but the August issue of Wired magazine features a "Martha Stewart blowout" (never thought we'd write those words in the same sentence) with the queen of gracious living giving tips on a number of geek-related topics.
In the spotlight: Martha shows us how to bake a Wii cake. Sounds ... yummy? Who cares, it's cake, and it looks like a Wii. We'll eat it. Hopefully another magazine will catch on to this trend and get Christopher Lowell to show us how to make a Wii-shaped entrance to our verandah.

Wired is nice enough to give actual subscribers to the magazine a jump start on their articles before posting it on the Internet.

if that's the scale of the Wii, I would love to see how big she makes a 360 or PS3 cake, better yet, make the Duke controller, you could feed a dozen families

I actually saw this at Barnes & Noble yesterday. My first thought was "What the hell?!" and my second thought was, "I better pick that up so I can make one myself." Pretty cool.

Saw this yesterday at my work's breakroom.
Unfortunately the article said that since you don't use baking soda in it, the Wii Cake is pretty much inedible.

"We'll eat it."
I wouldn't. The "article", which for the Wii cake is really just a small column, ends by saying DO NOT EAT! Apparently to get the "cake" to stand that way they had to remove baking soda from the ingredients, making it taste "like old Atari cartridges", according to the magazine.
Anyway, why wouldn't this be a good thing for the Wii? More mainstream coverage is ALWAYS a good thing.

Something about Marthas face makes me want to rake a fork across her cheek, slowly digging away to get to the chocolaty center...

big deal. You use a rectangle cake pan and white icing. Do we really need a "how to" from Martha? More free advertising for Nintendo. (or is it?)

James S.-How very strange, I also saw this article at Barnes and Noble yesterday! There for the midnight Harry Potter launch as well? It would be crazy if you were also at the Barnes and Noble in Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Anyway, that magazine actually has a bunch of interesting game related articles. This issue had tips for Guitar Hero and there was a "How To" beat the third level in Donkey Kong. There was also an interesting article about how people are spending millions on Second Life advertising, when in reality nobody is there.

Hopefully she has an article on performin unethical business and stock practices? I need help with that more IMO. How about an article, "Going to jail, deserving it, still having a career and being paraded around as a good person, and LOVING IT!"

I bet eating that cake will be 100X for fun than playing the Wii that's for sure!
Why does a Wii and grandma Stewart seem perfect together? Old and out of date a match made in heaven.
ok, I'll shut up...

First of all she is probably the worst cook in the world. if what the actual artical says is true that they had to remove baking soda from the ingredients, making it taste "like old Atari cartridges" then she is a worthless piece of crap
the team from the Food network show "ace of cakes" make more elaborate cakes that are actual edible. Makeing her a worthless hack cook.
and second they must of had a artist air brush the crap out of that ugly hag for at least 10 hours to make her skin look that young.....she doesnt even look human in the picture

Wow. Sounds cool and yet weird at the same time..Martha Stewart+Wii=WTF. o_o O_o And why bragg about a cake you can't eat!?o__o Thats just wrong. Anyways if thats how big it is in scale, Lets see her try baking a cake of an x-box or ps3 xD; I agree that this kills the Wii and any hopes I had that Nintendo would get back on track. :\ Is this for free advertising?I swear people will sell their foreheads for advertising...Good job Martha if only it was Edible! :(

Personally I like Martha Steward. It refreshing to see that Wired has a sense of Humor and that is "a good thing." I used to watch her religiously back in the old days when I owned a TV. Also subscribed to Martha Steward Living until she gave up the ultra personal perspective in it and turned turned it over to subordinates. She is the perfect "Stepford Wife" and I would marry her in an instant. She is a self created entity and basically lives by your site's tagline. It was a joy to discover that she is not above a bit of Larceny, using "game cheats" on her excursion into the mega online game of Wall Street. Wired could learn a thing or two from Martha, such as making their "rag" readiable by not using deep hued backgrounds on their pages. Speaking of rag, I'm the one who started the rumour that she makes her own Tampoms. Immature and tasteless, I know, but probably accurate. BTW. its a pleasure to discover your site. No swag or junkettes-now that is a "good thing."

Ok now Xbox and ps3 owners, shut the hell up. The Wii is 100x better and more fun than your systems, get over it. It sells better, it advertises better, it's proof that Nintendo has in fact gotten back on track, and its MORE POPULAR than what you sit on your ass and play while developing blood clots in your thighs. Owned. And give Martha a break, geez.
