Rumor: Possible release dates for Call of Duty 4 [update]

According to French gaming site Xboxygen (which doesn't cite a verifiable source), Activision has "announced" release dates for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. North America gets its taste on October 30, while Europe has to wait ten more days for November 9. CoD 4 ditches the World War II-theme for modern combat (hence the cryptic title). It also drops the familiar campaign system to unfold the gameplay like an "action novel of a television series". Check out our early look at CoD 4 from this year's E3 for more in-depth information.

Activision confirms that no announcements have been made: "The COD4: MF release date is Fall 2007-we haven't given out specific dates at this time."

It's a shame that every other game will get overshadowed by Halo 3 on the 360 this year. So many other good games coming out as well.

Too many games (especially FPSs) this year...can't they delay this a bit? Halo 3 and GTA IV sales will no doubt effect this game.

mmm... you are missing Smash Bros and Mario Galaxy...

This two games probably will sell more games than Halo 3.

I'm a Nintendo fan too, but... I HIGHLY doubt that they'll outsell Halo 3. Maybe combined, but certainly not alone. Halo is far more popular than Mario at this point in time.

I mean, the install base is almost the same, the price of Wii games is lower... the Wii still sells thousands of Wii's every week.

Besides, almost every owner is waiting for SSBB and Super Mario Galaxy, just like almost 360 owner is waiting for Halo 3.

Halo 2 and Super Smash Bros Melee sold almost the same quantity of games in the last gen.

Its going to be interesting this Christmas.

I was referring mainly to Xbox 360 games, though yes Mario Galaxy will no doubt effect sales since it'll be released after only two weeks.

actually its coming out on the 360, and what you saw at e3 is the 360 build... anything that can put that out is obviously not a crap system..

Look up the sales. Halo 2 and SSB:M both sold 6 million each.

Yeah but Smash Bros was a launch title or else a very early title for the Gamecube. Halo 2 came out over halfway through the lifecycle of the xbox.

With the way the wii sells i think SSB and Galaxy will beat it out. Not that i like nintendo but hey you can't argue with those kinds of numbers and thsoe things will fly off the shelves with those two games. Anyways please release this on pc i don't wanna have otplay this with a ps3 or a 360 controller. Mouse and keyboard is the best way to go for fps's

wow. That sign in the game is so wrong. It says "Autostrad" in English and Arabic, but Autostrad means "Highway" in Arabic. You'd never find signs like that over here (I live in the Middle East). Also, this game is supposed to be taking place in Iraq (no?) and they don't use the word "Autostrad" They have a different dialect.

There are some other problems with the Arabic signage, but whatever. I expected better from a game like this.

It's not really nitpicky. If this game took place in the US and they made silly mistakes like these with the signs and locations, then I don't think many people would appreciate it. Since this game apparently takes place in the Middle East, at least Activision should do some proper research. It'd take less then 30 minutes to figure this out.

Is it really too much to ask, for them to be more accurate about these sort of things?

call of duty 4 will be the shhh. I finished halo 3 it was short but good. maybe to short. kinda like god of war #1. Multi player in halo3 is very good, but cod4 will be better im sure as long as u love military fps. now rainbow 6 is the best multiplayer as of yet. hopefully cod4 will be that good or better
