Rose & Camellia: Slap your way to gaming bliss
Slapping. The fighting style of choice for people wearing mittens, women, small children, and now, gamers. Rose & Camellia is a Japanese-made Flash game where you play a woman named Reiko who married into a noble family only to have her husband die shortly afterwards. The women of the house don't respect her, so its your job to slap some good old fashioned sense into them.
Fights are turn-based and you only have a few seconds to act. When it's your turn, click the "attack" button and swipe the mouse in an arc to slap the other woman. When she's on the offensive, click "evade" and make a mirrored arc to avoid the attack. Successfully dodge and you're ready for a counter-slap!

Oh man you'll get creamed by the end boss if you don't counter every single time. I wish this gets turned into a DS and Wii game.

This better get turned into a Ds game. That would be awesome!!!

This is such a great game! Even Nintendo doesn't innovate as much. Would suit well for Wii/DS.
moominsean @ Jul 21st 2007 6:45PM
seriously, what's with the bra-busting ceiling hag that downs you with one smack!?
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 21st 2007 6:47PM
That's why you have to evade and counter-attack. It's the only way especially in the harder difficulties.

Don't speaketh the competitor's I mean wannabes name. That name is more dreaded here than JT. Almost.

Hmm. Doesn't work on the Wii. Shame, too. It loads fine, looks great, but the button is missing so you can't actually slap or dodge.

The problem is that Wii's browser only has Flash 7 (thanks to Adobe being stubborn about providing a newer SDK to developers), and this probably requires Flash 9. You CAN click on the buttons, even though you can't see them.
The bigger problem, though, is that the game won't respond to Wii Remote movements like it does to mouse movements.

funny game, but why does it have to feel like something out of the grudge?
Stuka @ Jul 21st 2007 8:05PM
That fat bitch cheats!

Forget about attacking and focus on counter-attacking.

I knocked her the f*ck out!

This is a bit low for Joystiq standards. I saw this on Kotaku as well and that is where it should have stayed.

BEAT HER CHEEK!

Is it just me or did Ike turner create the first slap simulator?
cybereality @ Jul 21st 2007 10:29PM
Flash gaming at its finest. I'd like to see this on the Wii.
Lijik @ Jul 21st 2007 10:49PM
Pretty much half the news on Joystiq was on Kotaku or some other blog first.
The second half isn't news perse, but the game impressions, and other segments that make me stick with Joystiq.

Is it just me or did this game PWN SO HARD?!
John Doe @ Jul 22nd 2007 2:27AM
This game so deserves to be on the Wii. Time your right and left slaps with the Nunchuck and Wiimote to get a combo going. LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! LEFT! [Bitch slap symbol highlights] HARD RIGHT!!!!

Why do people say that if it appeared on Kotaku first Joystiq shouldn't post it? It's not like most of us read both Kotaku and Joystiq(I certainly don't waste my time like that).
That's like saying CNN shouldn't report a piece of news if NBC aired it first.

Game of the Year.

This game totally needs to be on the Nintendo Wii or the Nintendo DS! What an awesome concept! Way to go!
Chris Wilkerson @ Jul 23rd 2007 4:08AM

Somar @ Jul 23rd 2007 11:47AM
