Questions about Christopher Grant, the man behind the Joystiq curtain, are a perfectly natural part of being a reader. What's his favorite food? Does he like Coke or Pepsi? Can he be killed by conventional weapons? The answers to none of those questions are here in a recent round table discussion GameTrailers.com conducted between the chiefs of some leading blogs. The result is a pretty frank, though brief, talk of the current role of blogs and some interesting insight into how a blog works if you care about that sort of thing.
Also, we've been instructed to say that even if Chris' glasses didn't already make him look smarter and more charming than the other guests, his dizzying intellect and razor-sharp insight would certainly finish the job.

I didn't pay Justin to say that, I swear. In fact, he's on latrine duty now.

Ok, so maybe you didn't 'pay' him. But there are other means like the threat of or actual implementation of physical harm/torture...

Some how, I find that hard to believe, but...Yeah... Sure Chris ;)

Very nice. Congratulations Christopher.
This is why I read Joystiq everyday, for people like Christopher, Ludwig, Justin... and every other Joystiq poster.
Keep up the good work. You are making a difference.
Sometimes I can be annoying and troll, but in fact, I have a lot of fun on this site. I like to read every comment on this site, and like to see the opinions of every gamer. I have meet excellent people (sheppy, JonnyBoy2U, Kye, etc.) and people with a lot of differences with me (Godisamyth, Shaggi) and very interesesting people (a lot of names, that I have no time to write right now).
But in the end, we all are here becasue we all are gamers.
And thanks Joystiq, for bringing very good times, and for meeting all this friends.
(sorry for my english)

It's a JOKE. Get it? Cause you think I'm going to be all like "all" and then I'm all like "none." It's hysterical.

All jokes aside though (for now).
I find this very interesting and will follow this series. There are things that I have always wondered about blogs, how they operate, what they actually contribute to the industry and what overall impact they possibly have on the perception of the industry and it's 'players' (MS, Nintendo & Sony).
So far, I like the format and how each presents themselves and their perspective blog sites. Good questions too. I hope the answers are even better.
Thanks for an very interesting topic Justin.

I know! I'd really love to tell you guys today, but I can't get a solid answer, which means you don't either. Regardless, know that it's being actively worked on and we expect it to be functional sooner than later.

But, but ... how does the industry treat blogs?! I hate cliffhangers!

The industry will treat blogs seriously when blog sites treat their posters seriously. I think joystiq does a pretty good job of this. Most importantly what needs to be accomplished is the fostering of a community. I think if you can get a Misetings style community going on a gaming blog with lots of fan participation and creativity you can really pull the eye of the publishers . If you can create the game reviewer as a blog instead of an individual.
