Shameless cash grab indeed. Why else would you build an expansion and not port it to all the console platforms you support?

At $49.99 for only 30 songs is a little steep, but in this Sunday's circular Best Buy was the only one to list it at $39.99. Plus if you order it online you get a free $15 gift card! Sweet deal to rock out!

I saw the $40 in the ad but not the online deal. Thanks! At essentially $25 I don't have a problem picking this up.

Thanks for pointing this BB deal out. I'd already preordered it from everyone's favorite terrible game store, but for half the price, I'll cancel the preorder and wait a few days. Better price + free GC FTW.

I'm thinking 2 weeks from now we'll start to see some of the songs on XBLM. I shudder to think how much they're gonna cost though...

Yes $50 is steep for 80s. Get the game and see why. There is nothing extra at all. All of the menus, locations, band members, training and everything is the same. The only difference is the main menu background. Its really stupid to see izzy sparks or whoever all dressed 80s retro while the remaining band members are dressed exactly like they were in GH2.
All of this on top of the fact that they make "Because it's Midnight" the 2nd encore with a nearly impossible solo the likes of Jordan. Not only is this the biggest cashgrab, but its a slap in the face to fans of the series. I only hope they put some effort into the next one.

Questionable song choice? It's the best song lineup so far.

best lineup so far my ass. It's called opinion, and that opinion is terrible. Everyone is always going to argue what game has the best lineup - always, based on their personal tastes. I hear a lot of people argue that the first one has the best. I personally think GH2 has the best lineup by far, and you my friend think that the petite lineup of 80s is the best. In the end, we all know it is Rock Band that has the best lineup.

Guitar Hero 80s has a better line-up than GH2 does. There are so many songs on GH2 I don't play just because they're lousy and boring songs. Freya? Give me a break.

GH1 still has the best overall soundtrack, despite having fewer songs than GH2. Personally, I like the cheesy 80s power-pop tracks on GH80s, and have a hard time understanding the mentality of the people who are like WTF NEEDS MORE METAL AND HARDROCK THIS IS STUPID.

that 'mentality' comes not only from their personal taste in music but because most of the heavier songs are a hell of a lot more fun to play. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of songs I love in GH1-2 that aren't metal, and the game has gotten me into a lot of great music.. but then theres shit, yes, shit, like heart shaped box, while I used to like the song (8 years ago..) after playing it now I can't fucking stand it.

The reason I like GH2 more is because of bands like All That Remains, Shadows Fall, thunderhorse, lamb of god (dear god the singing..MY EARS!! *eplodes*) are a hell of a lot more fun to rock out to than...tattooed love boys.. don't get me wrong, I still love the songs that are fun to play, because they are just that: fun to play. in this game it's less about type of music for me and more about what songs are just plain FUN to play (like Hanger 18).

It's just a bonus for me if the fun to play songs happen to be metal as well (which all the metal ones, not so coincidentally, are fun as hell to play)

I've actually played this game(yes I know I'm a bad person) and I have to say...this has to be the worst lineup yet.

If you do not like the songs, than you will not like the game. Basically, the game isn't at all challenging, and really diminishes the point of Guitar Hero. It's all right, because yay new songs, but the majority would all be lower tier in a regular Guitar Hero. Everything except the last tier, and a few of the other songs(such as Radar Love) are all incredibly easy and a bore to play.

80s edition is very boring, very easy, and very much just a player-mod if you ask me. I cranked out 5 stars on every song on hard with minimal effort and zero repeats. Picked it up over the weekend and very very very disappointed. Guess I'll be retiring the plastic axe until GH3 / RB

You know... there's an expert mode =O. Maybe you should get the 5 stars on that?

Well, the thing is I could barely beat Guitar Hero 2 on hard. The entire last 4 sets of songs were all 3 or 4 stars. I was expecting to play these on hard and get about the same ratings. Call me crazy, but some consistency would be nice.

Yes, this may be stupid to ask, but what are the chances that GH 80s will sell out of the BB stores tomorrow? I only ask because I can't get to one until 7pm because of work.

Also, if you read Sunday's BB circular correct, it states that the $15 gift card applies both in-store and online. Either way, I'm in.
