Heavenly Sword demo in NA this week too

Now everyone with a PS3 will get some time with Heavenly Sword and decide whether it's the next great Sony exclusive franchise -- they could use 'em. In the demo players take control of Nariko on a quest for Kill Bill-style vengeance. The game is slated for release in September.

I'll take button mashing over wiimote wagging, thanks... button presses work 100% of the time and allow for more complex battle combos.
Wagging your wiimote is imprecise and forces devs to dumb down the game. Notice that there are ZERO worthwhile action/adventure platformers on the Wii.. Soul Caliber? lmao .. SMG? Anything else?

I'm glad I picked up a PS3 after the price drop to enjoy games such as these. Heavenly Sword looks like it will provide great game play along with amazing graphics. Can't get an better than this.... Well, let me take that back. MGS4!!

I will be picking up a PS3 this fall and this is one of the first games I will be getting. With this and everything coming out on 360 I should be sitting pretty.

You know I have played Wii and sure it is fun at first if you have a lot of people around. But I felt like it got old quickly and felt a little too childish. Also some of the wiimote controls annoyed me greatly and were not fun (I'm talking wiiplay here). I don't see myself buying a Wii. I may be in the minority here.

I remember when I got my launch PS2 and was waiting for a game, any game to come out for the thing. From Nov to Mar there were no new PS2 releases. Oni (from Bungie) was going to be the the first new release in a long time and was highly anticipated. It was nothing more than a beat 'em up but it generated a lot of hype back then because the system had no games. Oni came out and everybody bought it and was disappointed. With Heavenly Sword I'm starting to have deja-vu. What's so special about this game that has everyone so excited for it?

Cuddlefish how people forget the past (except you and I). The PS2 had nothing in terms of games the first year and look were it ended up.... the best selling console of all time.

I am very interested in Heavenly Sword. Single player hackers are typically just a rental for me, but the graphics look good and the game looks fun, so I might have to give this a whirl at my buddy's house. Yet I am still skeptical too.
Most hype is built upon the graphics. But gameplay is still a bit unknown. Is this just a typical hack n' slasher? The only other game Ninja Theory has ever made is Kung Fu Chaos, and it wasn't very good, though it did have a bit of hype leading to launch.
The PS3, badly lacking diversity, has absolutely nothing this fall for exclusives except for action and platform games. Heavenly looks like it could be the best one, but it could also flop really badly as well. We'll have to see.

The only thing the PS3 is legitamatley thin on for the fall is RPGs. There are heavy hitter exclusives this fall that span racers, FPS, action adventure, puzzle, flight, sports, platformer, music.
And those are just the exclusives, the third party multiplatform games take care of anything else.

Sorry but Goddess of War isn't that serious.
Sure it might sell a few systems but I doubt its going to launch sony to a whole new level of success. Thats never going to happen with this game.
When you are you sony fanboys going to realize that graphics aren't enough to sell a game. Time after time, article after article related to Goddess of War ALL you talk about and all the writers talk about is how awesome the game looks. The ONLY thing I have heard of besides the graphics is that there are counters...big deal. As if counters aren't in most fighting games.
As for the argument of Waggle vs Button Mashing both are okay. I happen to prefer the Wiimote a lot more because its g

i played this game at E3 last year, and it was awesome then, i'm sure it's awesome now.
looking forward to tomorrow for sure.
and since when is being compared to God of War a bad thing?
i never understood that.
if a game is compared favorably to another game of the same genre that just happens to be a classic, people piss on it. at least on the net
say, you compare Ratchet and Clank to Super Mario Bros, Nintendo fans get all pissy. why? it just means that there are *MORE great platformers for those that enjoy them.
or you compare Resistance: Fall of Man favorably to Halo. why get pissed about it? just means there's another console FPS that doesn't blow, and has great online. shouldn't that make the fans of those types of games happy?
so here we have Heavenly Sword, which is it's own game by all means, but God of War fans will be right at home with the title.

last i checked, there werre a few million God of War fans, so Nariko has a right good chance of selling some decent numbers (assuming that the game is as good as i remember, and then some, which it's looking like everytime i see it).
i don't understand this constant cynicism for everything Sony, especially when they've shown that their first and second party devs have got the goods and deliver quality experiences to Playstation gamers.
Mass Effect doesn't get shit for being similar to KOTOR, does it?

Like a poster above me said, this looks great for God of War fans. I enjoyed the first one, but God of War 2 got very repetitive and very boring. It also wasn't much of a looker for being one part of the PS2's final hurrah.
I'm sure Heavenly Sword will be a solid game, and an awesome rental. Just like God of War.

Johnnyboy, I can understand being voted down. Jake said he was interested in the game, but had his doubts and questions about gameplay, along with a quip about Ninja Theory's past work, and then a paragraph of uninformed jabber about diversity in the lineup- he's not a troll because he isn't blindly bashing anything Sony- his post deserves replies and discussion, as well as correction about what he said- not voting down.

This is another graphics whore pleaasing game for the ps3. All I said is that its not a system seller and that you fony fanboys have been saying the SAME thing for months now regarding this game.

Sorry but Goddess of War isn't going to push systems. Its a repeat game with an Asian woman at the forefront.
This is nothing aganist God of War which I honestly think was a good game. Its just pointing out that this is a hack and slash game that follows the same format.

That plus the fact that I could care less about this whole "hearts voting thing" that you all seem obsessed about on Joystiq. This isn't a popularity contest. I don't come to the website in hopes of getting 3 hearts for each post I make.
And to be honest I might care and try to frame things differently if it weren't the way the sony fanboys/trolls on this website constantly bash the Wii or the 360 each and everyday because their system is failing horribly.

I don't know about obsessed about the hearts, but it makes comments hard to read when they are voted down. All I did was initially comment on how some decent opinions were getting downvoted unfairly. I'm pretty sure that's not obsessed, just commenting.
I'm not going to deconstruct your posts to show how and why you're acting like a douche. I don't want to, and I'm sure you don't want me to either. But acting civil isn't part of a popularity contest to get 3 hearts every post; it's to be a positive part of the site we all visit, and to not turn every comment thread into the same dopey fanboy flamewar that was in the last four comment threads.

Oh, sweet. You know, I wasn't really interested in this, but I'm looking forward to the demo. I had no interest in Motorstorm until I got the demo and it convinced me to get the game. So, maybe the same will happen with Heavenly Sword. Glad I picked that PS3 up.

well i wish i had a ps3 now but im still looking foward to halo when it comes out somewhere in winter. i would suggest if you want to play this game then wait for the ps3 price to drop and then buy it i heard sony is having second thoughts about pricing.
