Lair is done, set for August 14 release date

Factor 5's Lair has "has completed its development and is now in manufacturing," according to SCEA Associate Producer Ryan Hamlyn via the PlayStation blog.

The game is on track to be unleashed August 14 in North America. Localization for other regions hasn't been completed yet, said Hamlyn, so release dates elsewhere haven't been revealed. Since we didn't spend much time with Lair at E3, we're interested in seeing how the game has shaped up since we last saw it at Sony Gamer's Day.

Niiiiece boyi! Heres to hoping the six axis controls don't suck.

I thought BluRay's massive storage meant that every game would ship with all regions localized, thus reducing the cost of producing multiple game SKUs and harmonizing ship dates.

If its ready for the NA market but not others, why would they delay it... so that they can put every localisation on one disc? Makes no sense.

No, I distinctly remember sony and sony fanboys saying this multiple times. The reason we need blu-ray is so that all that TrueHD audio in 7 languages will fit on 1 disk, they said.

Panzer Dragoon is almost ready. I think Sega made that game a few years ago. And yeah, Sony said that delays would be a thing of the past, for localization, because of the massive storage space on the Blu-Ray disc would hold all languages of the game on just one disk.

Comparing an on-rails shooter to a game that is a mix gameplay types? But, hey, they both have dragons so they must be the same, right? Yeah, whatever.

Game looks good, but we all know looks can be deceiving.
Still, getting a game during the summer draught is a blessing, IMO.

I think this game will be like the Darkness. Good sound and visuals, but things like controls and objectives will seem un-mastered. I'll add that The Darkness was a good game and Lair will probably be a good game, so don't call me any kind of a fan boy or anything.

What??? How can the delays be in the past if they'll gonna stuff all languages in 1 Blu-Ray? You are contradicting yourself, and I don't think Sony said that, if so, where? In all fairness, I would like what you say to be true.

Lair is on my to-get list so I'm definitely picking this up come its European release. I think many of you are forgetting the hideous amount of languages in Europe thus delaying localisation.

It's from a magazine. I'm assuming they do the same thing as Wired, which is not publish all the print articles for a little bit to give the subscribers a head start.

I've already acknowledged off the bat that the review isn't complete. Or not all there. SO I can't completely judge if the review is based on everything.

As for gameplay some games aren't judged on that. Sometimes reviewers ignore one aspect and focus on another.

Thats ALL I'm saying. I haven't read the review but its not at all impossible that the reviewer is just obsessed with graphics as most sony fanboys are and therefore gave it a 9/10 is it?

I guess I never really realized how freakin' UGLY those dragons are! I don't mean graphic-wise I mean art direction. Those are some FUCK UGLY lizards!!

Anyway, this game has always had my eye. I love big honking dragons, and I loved Panzer Dragoon, and I love Factor 5's past work. I hope this game kicks total ass.

I hope the game is at least a quarter as good as it's freaking hype. the developers are good and ps3 needs some more games desperately.

I've seen MAJESTIC, NOBLE, ICREDIBLE looking dragons. Dragons that inspire. Dragons that make you imagine and wish you had one to ride.

Sorry but those dragons are fuck ugly. Plain and simple. And the fact that the graphics are so awesome doesn't help matters since it only emphasizes how ugly they are.

Not that dragons aren't real or anything, but not all literature refers to dragons as we are always used to seeing. Some fiction refers to dragons as they are here, just like some fiction refers to dragons as you saw in other mediums.

Personally I love the look of the game. It's nice to see dragons look so gritty and brutish for once. Nice spin off of the classic (maybe even cliche) art direction we usualy see for dragons.

Exactly Scerene! These dragons are hell bent on destruction, not guarding some sword and drawn accordingly.

I don't think Lair is supposed to emphasise how beautiful or majestic a dragon is supposed to be, but instead emphasise on how brutal and deadly they are. In war, tanks aren't supposed to look majestic, noble or incredible but to have a design that works to the machine's advantages. The same applies to Lair and its depiction of the fictional creature.

I never seem to recall dragons at ALL times have to be Noble Majestic beings...anymore than aliens need to always be Gray and have large eyes.

If thats the only complaint this game has well then shoot, Go factor 5.

I cant wait to play this one myself, looks very fun.

If I'm not mistaken, I read somewhere that they made the dragons based on scientific stuff, not mythology, they wanted them to look so if they really existed, they probably looked like that. And, the beauty of the dragons what have to do with the gameplay?

I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary here. Its a great game graphically. And I'm not saying that the reason why I wouldn't buy it is because the dragons look fuck ugly...although that is a part of it.

For the record dragons can be badass and still look cool.

These dragons just look retarded and rejects from the world of magic and imagination.

Last but not least my only "rag" on Killzone was that the graphics weren't as impressive as I thought they were going to be given all the sony fanboys' hype over it. And Goddess of War is just like Lair...another nice looking ps3 title that is sure to look very beautiful on the system but isn't a system seller in my opinion.
