It took them over 25 years, but the Space Invaders are finally invading. The most recent example is a clothing line featuring the pesky aliens. The three designs from the right side above are reminiscent of Liz Claiborne's '80s power collection, which helped establish modern pattern design in fashion (OK, we totally made that up -- maybe).
Anyway, those Space Invaders have already made it onto high-end footwear, Barcelona stores, Christian rap, wall pasties, and if we were faster we could have snapped a picture of one we saw spraypainted on a Los Angeles bridge during E3. We're very curious to see where the simple Space Invader iconography will show up next. Maybe this was their master plan all along.
[Thanks John]

They look so serious for wearing such frivilous merchandise. Must have just cut themselves to get into character...

I kind of like them on some level, but they're just too expensive. You already play games and post on a website about games regularly... guess what, you're already a nerd! Who cares if you wear some clothing with that on there? People seem more than willing to spend $25 for a shirt that advertises the GAP lol.

Hey now don't hate on the GAP...
They've got some of the best clothes out there...
But then again I used to work there so I guess I'm sorta biased...lol.

For when you want to say "I read Nietzsche, buy all my albums on vinyl when I only own an iPod and play games only when they're twenty years old. I'm so hip. Maybe a Suicide Girl will see me in this and want to come over to one of my cuddle parties and listen to the Decemberists with me. I like art" all at once without saying a thing. Why? Because you're too damned cool to communicate your interests in any other way than a uniform.

Wow, seeing that guy with that hair posing that way in that green atrocity of clothing makes me want to kick something.

I have no comment on the clothes but I did see a space invader stuck to the roof of a tram in Vienna on my recent holiday. Another was spray painted on a street corner in the inner city.
The invasion has begun.

I got me some space invaders drawers the other day, complete with a little spaceship blasting them away int he lower right. The black elastic band at the top even shows how many lives are left, as well as the score.
