The new fact sheet, released today, promises
Warhound: open-ended FPS headed to Xbox 360, PC in 2008

While we're not sure if the luscious Crysis is making its way to new-gen consoles, Techland is pretty sure their upcoming FPS, Warhound, is. Announced several months back, and previewed at IGN, Warhound is another FPS with a list of innovations as long as our arm (which is quite long, actually).
The new fact sheet, released today, promisesbuzzwords features like freedom of choice (take that determinists!), unique cover systems, a realistic economy, dynamic battlefields, and destructible environments. All that, and pretty graphics that rival Crysis? The team at Techland – you may know them from such games as Call of Juarez – certainly think so. Warhound is heading to the Xbox 360 and PC (XP and Vista, thank you) sometime in 2008. Until then, check out the screenshots and some video after the break.

Looks impressive, but it's a long way off. Looking forward to hearing more though.

Freedom of choice? Economy? This is an FPS? Or a MMOFPS like huxley?

I don't think the graphics rival Crysis but they certainly please:) If they can make the 360 version look as good as the PC, color me impressed.

I love the ideas in it. We'll see how it turns out.

I am by no means a PC gaming fanboy, I do not have a computer that could run Crysis and I do not intend to buy one. But if I must say, ss impressive as the graphics are in that video, they do not rival Crysis. The lighting and animations (especially in the jungle scenes) are just not as good... Although this definitely is a pretty looking game.
Here's hoping the gameplay can match up to the eye candy.

Can't wait for it on PS...wait, another game PS3 doesn't get?
Posted: Jul 25th 2007 3:13PM (Unverified) said
I've read stuff about it being much easier to port a game from PC to 360, rather than to PS3.
Plus there's that whole PS3 going down the drain thing...

Wow, another FPS on the 360! Don't they already have one for every day of the year?
I like the 360, but it is just loaded with shooters, racers, and bad jrpg's.

I'm sick of this stream of mediocre fps's coming out with tacked on crap. There needs to be a mass exodus from the FPS and as a genre, just let it rest and catch it's breath, we're drowning in aliens and cool summery vistas chock full of mutants and "turrists". I guess fake DOF and a grain filter are the new bloom.
And this coming from somebody who plays a fps nightly.

Yeah, I play FPS pretty much every evening and even I don't think we need any more for a while. The 360 really is seeing far too many of these. I don't really care since I just won't play them all, but it'd be nice to hear about some OTHER stuff coming to the 360. Thanks, though. Where's Oddworld Inhabitants when you need'em?
Oh, what's that you say? Unique cover systems?! Sign me up!

I guess I might as well add that the graphics do look pretty good. Except for the helicopter at the end. The Apache from Battlefield 2 (PS2) looked better than that thing.

You mean another open-ended FPS like FarCry was on the PC? Looks like everyone's trying to jump into this new sub-genre of First Person Shooters... and yea, the 360 needs more action/adventure titles and less shooters (and by that I mean any game with a gun that the player uses).
Hopefully Assassin's Creed and Rock Band will be enough to sate non-shooter fans. Unless I'm missing some other games?

FPSs are a popular genre and the more thay make the better since only about 1/4 are worth playing. What we need are less people buying the crappy ones. Everytime a crappy game turns ANY profit they make a sequel. What I would like is a unified FPS control scheme from companies that make several FPSs..Ubi I'm lookin at you. Dump the GRAW layout in favor of the R6 layout. Left trigger for cover is brilliant.

They need to put something out that combines frantic speed, deliberate stalking with a good cover system, crazy co-op, minor rpg elements(leveling skills etc), in game currency for permanent armor/weapons, and a nice top-down strategy/command interface like Natural Selection.
I'd buy that game in a heartbeat if it looked decent.

While the vegitation looks close to Crysis level, I always thought the most impressive part of Crysis's graphic splendor was it's definietly not uncanny valleyified faces.
For example:

That is the most relealistic head I've ever seen in a video game.

I swear that if only one shooter was released all next year some turd would dismiss it as "yah, just another shooter". As if all shooters even played close to the same as one another.
Look, there are only a few genres of game. RTS, RPG, Racing, flying, shooter, sports, platformer, minigame, fighting, and action games that usually incorporate element(s) from another genre.
Shooters and sports games sell the most copies, so they are produced in the highest quantity. Perhaps that concept is too complex for some of you.
And people need to quit it with all this "all the 360 gets are shooters" bullshit. The 360 arguably gets more shooters than the PS3 and I realize the PS3 won't have an exclusive shooter release until 2008. But the 360 only has Halo3 coming this year as an exclusive shooter, unless I am mistaken. And it kind of goes without saying that the console getting the most games is getting the most shooters. Of course it is!
At least the 360 is also getting a healthy dose of RTS, RPG, and Racing games yet this year. That is more than I can say for the PS3. Other than Action and Platformer games and multiplatform, the PS3 is a barren wasteland until 2008.

Your on a roll today Jake. This is like what the 4th or 5th thread you've been able to get this in there?
Maybe if you say it enough times it becomes true.

I actually meant going into the future. Shoulda been more clear. That applies to my Halo3 comment too.
And yeah, I have been kinda going off the handle today. It just seems every damn thread today fanboys be saying "all the 360 gets are shooters" and "the 360 has no diversity". That crap couldn't be further from the truth.
If I need to explain it, they wouldn't understand anyways. I don't know why I bother posting replies. And I guess I just lash out at the PS3 because I assume that is the console with the diversity that they are comparing the 360 to, since we know damn well it can't be the Wii.
Hell, I rip on the PS3 all the time and I think it is a great console. I was playing hockey at my buddies on it last night. I think they are all great. I just think the 360 is where it is at right now and am annoyed when people come out saying it doesn't have/isn't getting any games.
If you believe the 360 has low diversity relative to the Wii and PS3, looking at everything up to Jan 2008, you are an idiot. Can we just agree on that and leave it there?

Warhound? I'm sure it's a swell game and all, better than mediocre...but for god sakes what a useless title.
We'll have to add this to all the other games that were inventive enough to put "war" somewhere in the title. Such as Warcraft, Warhammer, Warhawk, God of War, Gears of War, Frontlines: Fuel of War, just to name the ones off the top of my head, I'm sure there's dozens more.
A lot of comparisons with Crysis on this topic...Imagine if Crysis was called "Future War" or some dumbass "war" derivative.
Get some creativity!

C&C RTS, LOTR RTS, HALO WARS RTS, etc. etc. etc.
GOD I WISH THERE WERE VARIETY ON XBOX 360!!! What a limited system!!!!!! (sarcasm)

At least this will be out for the PC. There seem to be NO games coming out for the PC except Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3. I need a few games for my PC to be honest.

And all of the arcade titles. And Eternal Sonata and that the Clancy RTS and the other RTS that I can't think of the name for right now. Naruto, too. Ooh, don't forget Katamari. Shit, it is about impossible to count them all really.
I think I'll just cut and paste your post from now on instead of arguing with people that the 360 has diversity. Well done.

FPSs are relatively easy to build. They offer a straightforward experience for the designer and the gamer. They also allow for a lot of immersion and interaction. If you see something/someone, you can shoot it. And that's gratifying. FPS are also extremely low brow, making them very accessible and visceral all at once. They're the Dolph Lundgren action films of gaming genres.

I love FPS games. It all started with a little game called Castle Wolfenstein also DOOM. Since then I have not let go of the FPS games. Yes Jrpg, racing, platformers, and puzzle games are good, but dammm I need my FPS kick. So I myself welcome more FPS games and will continue to buy them. And yes Not all FPS games are the same. You can't even say Hour of Victory (which is a disgrace to the U3 engine) and Call of duty are the same cause we all know which one trumps over the other. And please don't say Dolph Lungdren and gaming in the same sentence. That should be Illegal.

I'm Playing my FPS's on PC regardless, anyone else find this 360vs.PS3 fanboy ranting, evident on almost every news item, a bit tiring? Who gives a flying crap. I really don't care what genre they are coming from, so long as the games are good and not half completed garbage. The more FPS the better.
