You're about to read a post about Guitar Hero, so go ahead and get the above video going to initiate face melting. Boy, those cats at Neversoft know how to take care of their fans. Not only did they fly members of fan community Score Hero out to check out Guitar Hero III, they let them get away with some new info. The first nugget, and the one you all care about, is four new songs. They are:
Of those, only "La Grange" isn't taken from the original master recordings. If you've forgotten what's already been announced, here's a refresher. SH also confirmed a new character ("Midori") and some of the locations like "Shanker's Island," "Desert Rock Tour" and "Kaiju Megadome." We know that GH III may not have the fancy drums and microphones of its competitors, but with a stellar song list like this, it sure won't be going down without a fight.
It's also not going to cost $200+ for the whole setup.
RHCP and Maiden could have had much better songs - maybe Phantom of the Opera or Genghis Khan from Maiden? Oh well, I'll take them, they are both pretty great. And it's nice to see some original recordings now.
I too was planning on skipping GHIII this time around and jumping on top of Rock Band. It's the drums, man! The drums!
However, the GHIII song list is getting to be pretty fuckin' epic. I may be forced to pick it up after all. Now that DragonForce is on there, the fate of my fingertips (hint: they have no future) has been sealed.
I, too, was going to skip GH3 for rock band. I was hoping Rock Band would get the dragonforce. Now it looks like i'll get both. I think I'll get the 200+ dollar RB set, and just GH3 the game, since supposedly the guitars will be compatable.
I'm getting this and RB for sure (since you can use the old guitar on both games), but so far the GH3 song list is just killing Rock Band. I need to see more songs from them before I think about buying drums and shit. What are they waiting for?
I'm not sure if I'm gonna pick it up. But some of my friends are interested in it.
Do you have to be a fan of rock to like this game. Cuz to be honest I've never heard of most of these songs. Out of that list I've only heard of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers...
I consider myself pretty open to all kinds of Rock, but after GH2, it spread even more. It really made me enjoy listening to guitar parts in songs...if you like rock music at all, Guitar Hero (or Rock Band) is a must buy.
lol it'll most likely sell better on the wii then any of the other three current-gen consoles...I mean it probably will sell best on the Ps2 (considering the market base of the ps2), and the x360 will give it a run for its money but it will most likely sell best on the wii (rather then 360 or *snicker* Ps3) considering ITS market base
This is pretty cool news...but my question is, is anyone else as disappointed with that GHII '80s expansion as I am? I can't even imagine how irked I'd be if I'd have paid a full $50 for it.
Some of these announced bands such as Dragonforce, Priestess, Muse, and Tenacious D better not be in the main loop. The game is called 'Legends of Rock' and none of those bands qualify for the title. They better just be the bonus tracks.
Whu-whu-WHAT!?!? Tenacious D is so too a rock legend! Hell, they are the D! They ARE metal! We shall erect statues of Kage and Jables riding mighty steeds across the Devil's plain!
You can let Ludwig know that he can come play GH3 at my place anytime. Rock Band with just guitar is no longer GH3, not when you can pass that solo back and forth. It's almost like GH3 and RB are the new console wars. They fight for exclusive content to sell their hardware.
I'm getting both still. Looking forward to RB more but GH will help me wait for it. Plus, it's more songs. since when did anyone have a problem with more songs?
I must admit a good deal of ignorance when it comes to various metal styles . Its a genre I haven't really appreciated before the GH series came out. That Dragonforce song is awesome, although I fear it will be 'Buckethead' level of difficulty, which is a song I'm nowhere close to being able to play. With practice, I can see myself 5-starring just about anything in GHII on expert, but that song is like another leap forward in difficulty.
Everyone is so ready to jump onto Rock Band, but I don't even have a 360 or PS3 nor $200 for a video game. $200 is too much for a game. But I will admit Rock Band does look pretty slick, and if I ever get a 360 I'll buy it eventually.
For now I'll stick with my $50 GH3 on PS2 so there is no need for another guitar controller. Or maybe the Wii, I don't know.
regardless of whether or not you hate dragonforce, you pretty much HAVE to respect Herman Lee's guitar playing skill. I've been waiting since the first GH to get any dragonforce song on the list. I originally saw this band on comcast's onDemand service, my friend recommended I watch it. one thing lead to another and I found myself headbanging in the front row of their concert months later. (mind you I generally don't like metal, i listen to classic rock and rap nowadays)
I was going to say "Oh sure, GH3 gets Number of the Beast, but GH80s had to get by with the mediocre Wrathchild". But then I remembered that most of Iron Maiden's other songs are still better than Number of the Beast. It's not a bad song, but where's "The Trooper", "Run to the Hills", "22 Acacia Ave.", or just about anything off of "Powerslave", "Brave New World", or "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son"?
