I never asked you to believe me. I just played the brief demo and I did not enjoy it. It is my opinion: which I chose to share. I honestly do not understand why you got offended. IGN is not the holy graii. It is a man's opinion like mine's.

This is not a button masher, if you really think this is one then you have no idea what a button masher really is.

I must give it to the sony Defense Force...the amount of hatred, words, and vitrol they've spewed out at anyone who dares to question the greatness of this game has been impressive.

But I guess thats what happens when you have so few titles that live up to your consoles graphical expectations.

And yeah isn't the point of a demo to make a judgement on the game as a whole? I don't see why you people are even bashing ps3 owner's who have played the demo and came away with a different impression than yours...?

Wow, calm down and watch the language guys!! I for one was blown away by the demo. I've been playing my PS3 more than my 360 lately which has me as shocked as anyone. My only complaint about the demo was how short it was!! Come on, that had to be less than 5 minutes!! But I do agree the controls are spot on, the graphics are superb, and whoever did the motion capture needs a medal!!

Why do the PS3 owners get so defensive when comparing the console to the 360?

Is it because 90% of the games look better on the 360? (gamespot.com - round1 and round 2 ps3 vs xbox360)

Is it because 360 owners paid nearly half the price of the PS3 to get the same graphics?

Is it because all sports games will be running at 30FPS on the PS3 and 60FPS on the 360?

Is it because Virtual Fighter 5 (made for PS3 and ported to the 360) ruined there beliefs of the PS3 games looking not as good because they were ported?

Is it because all MOVIE trailers shown at 2005 e3 now looks like normal games like on the 360? (KILLZONE).

Is it maybe when they saw gears of war PLAYABLE on the 360, they nearly cried?

I think they are just edgy because the emotion chip didnt deliver so they want the cell to set them on fire?

It's been 2 years, lets get over the BS sony hype already. Both consoles are so close the average person will not be able to pick the difference. and don't give me this cell thing cause.....

All Graphic whores will know that the GPU improves the FPS of a game when replaced with a better one more than a processor does when replaced with a faster one. the XBOX360 has a BETTER GPU, everyone who has any idea about GPU hardware will agree.

Well I liked the Demo but I can also say that it did not WOW me. The combat takes getting use to because you do not have a block button but instead auto block which I do not like. The area where the game excels is the way you counter and perform some of the more cinematic moves.

The game is definitely very nice to look at but it did not make me feel that it was a game that could not have been done on the 360. In certain areas the game looks very nice but you can see that used a lot of tricks to conceal areas of low interest and thus low support. Anyway a very fine job of presentation by the Devs.

If MS had first refusal then the person who turned this game down was a fool especially since the 360 doesn't even have any games in the "Action/Adventure" segment of the market, definitely a bad move to let this game slip away.

With that said, system seller is not what I felt when playing the demo. This may definitely change once the full game is released but right now I consider the game as a very solid game that has potential to be great.

Actually, the E3 2006 demo - the one in the Arena - lasted a lot longer than this actual demo did. I was quite surprised to see that THAT demo didn't get released. It had a boss battle, QTEs, and the action you see here.

Overall, it took me a while to get used to it - seeing as how you can't just mash the attack button like GoW and having not played HS since E3 06, I was shocked to learn how it controls again. Although I quickly got used to the L1/R1 control shifting and managed to start comboing guys left and right.

What I think was fascinating about controls is that you needn't run across the screen then mash the attacks before hitting someone else - you just needed to tilt the Left Analog stick towards the direction of your nearest opponent and Nariko would automatically lunge into an animation that links into one of her moves.

It's definitely a short demo, I'll give you that - but I think since there's a lot of fighting mechanics in this game that you might want to try mastering it and beating it without getting hit. That's a feat in itself.

I really liked thhe demo (although 'teaser' seems more applicable). Just played through it once. I too must say that its brevity was certainly not expected - or really appreciated. I mean, if the E3 demo was longer then what gives? It would be nice to have a block functions, but then maybe I've just been playing a bit too much Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Anyway, can't wait to play the full version. I guess most of all I'm really interested to see just how well the mo-cap stuff translates into improving the story elements (or even if it does) of a video game.

I'm disappointed.

1.) Too short to get a fell for the gameplay and too boring to play it over and over again.

2.) Some fairly extensive tearing problems. Especially at the first to platforms.

3.) Some ugly rough edges in the demo. Others are pefectly smooth. Seems that they use some sort of restricted AA?

4.) In some cases there are some minor slowdowns.

5.) Like always: The German synchro sucks big time. but since I could play it in english I don't really care.

6.) Movement transitions looks somewhat odd.

7.)

On the positive site:

1.) Art design is top notch.

2.) The facial animation looks great.

3.) Having some mentally beyond the pale kid sister seems like a interesting story element. I'm poised to find out whats up with her.

4.) the Score has some hiccups but I really like it.

All in all:

I was hyped to finally get a killer app for the PS3 but the demo just have slipped the game from my "immediately-list" unto my "when-theres-time-list".

"Are you that fucking stupid that you can't see through blatanly obvious marketing? Yes, yes you are.

"It can ONLY be done on blu-ray/cell" talk is just BS. Does it not interest you that they feel the need to tell everyone that?---and ONLY the devs working on exclusives say that. Sony knows people need convincing of this. That proves right there the PS3 isn't that much more powerful than the 360.
People that know my post history know I'm not a fanboy, I'm only anti-fuckheaded people like you.

Again,
You are a moron, go back to your pokeman boy."

That is the serious whining of a losing bitch. I took the liberty in searching out your other posts and you're pretty much anti-PlayStation 3 in a very big way. If you wish for me to take your comments seriously or at least to respect them surely using an insult such as, "go back to your pokeman boy", which obviously doesn't make sense what so ever, isn't the way to do so. Apart from that, I'm e-debating with a 14 year-old American child that obviously does not develop for the PS3 platform therefore pretends to know about development thus tries to impress his e-friends with fake banter like above. Seriously kid, if you want to jump aboard the videogame development wagon, loose the fan-boy act and open your fucking eyes to an obviously more powerful platform.

I thought this game was pretty slick. I like the graphics and the animations are quite fluid and condusive to good movie-like action sequences. The one thing I notice though, is the characters don't look quite as detailed texture wise as something running on the 360. Maybe this is where the 360 has an advantage with the increased video ram it has. I'm a fan of God of War and so I was looking forward to this game being similar or at least taking it somewhere new.

I do agree though, if they had really wanted to sell the game, I would have put in an interesting boss sequence or something to really grab the player. You barely get the hang of the controls before its over.

The PS3 has just as much memory for video as the 360.

360 = 512MB GDDR3 Unified
PS3 = 256MB GDDR3 Video + 256MB XRD (faster than GDDR3) which can subsequently be used for anything in the system, which happens to include textures :).

To people who are complaining about the demo being too short...

Isn't that the point. To give people just a taste of what the game is like so they hunger for it even more?

I have been reading lots of things about this game(mostly positive) and even some of the naysayers at NeoGaf who didn't like it the first time they played it were blown away the second or third time.

I forgot to mention that this is indeed a "demo" from the March build. They did the same thing with Motorstorm and the finished product was 100% better than the demo.

Some people may question...

Why did they releases such an old demo of the game?

My answer to that is they probably didn't want to spend too much time on this demo when their ultimate goal is to finish the entire game and get it out the door into retailers hands.

If they spend too much time and resources on a demo, it could cause the game to get delayed which is something that nobody wants.

Meh, I went home, and played through it a good six or seven times.

The game is simply breathtaking. The attention to detail, art style and execution, and animations are just unmatched right now.

I won't jump into the argument on which is better, Gears or Heavenly, but I will say this, after having time with it at E3 and revisiting the demo again, it's easily the most beautiful game I have ever played. Sorry Okami, you've been demoted.

Hmm,

I would also like to add that this game is far from a button masher. The combat system is actually very deep. Creating combos that aren't listed by using different stances to chain off each other will really get you into the battle. The fact that Nariko looks like she's dancing while dispensing death just really sells this for me. I've not played a game in awhile that had such a strong interactive yet cinematic feel.

Also, the E3 build runs much better, and most, if not all of the graphic glitches seen here are taken care of. The March build that we've played on the PSN now, did not have full multi-spu support yet.

Sorry, one more thing. Most people don't understand how the PS3's architecture actually works. While it is true that the RSX is not as powerful as the 360's gpu, it is designed completely differently on purpose. In the 360, most, if not all of the post process effects are handled in it's GPU, and the PS3 simply does not handle processing this way. This is why you see games that are developed on the 360 first, run only as good or worse on the PS3. The CBE, which actually is an amazing processor in an ideal situation is supposed to handle the brunt of the post processing effects. Particles, AA, lighting, and the such can all be done by Cell before the RSX even begins to do its share of the work. The two systems are completely different animals. The 360 relies on it's GPU, the PS3 relies on the CBE. Why do you think games from the ground up look so much better than the poor port jobs it has received so far?

It is harder to program for, that's for sure, but so was the PS2.

true your Xbot is cheaper as long as you Dont play Hi-Def movies, and you still use AAA batteries in your wireless controller, and you DID NOT buy the headset & camera, and you DONT subscribe to XBL for 50 quid a year, and you DONT want movies on you non-existent, or very small hardrive, and u have a separate PC to surf the net, Plus other MS rip-off's like paying for the controller charging wire.
