As if walking around in the guise of androgyny poster personVaan wasn't humiliating enough, one of the chaps from Mega64 also mimics an early Final Fantasy XII sequence in this latest video. In an attempt to earn some notoriety (just like in the game), the cosplayer proudly declares himself to be "Captain Basch from Dalmasca," consequently facing perplexed stares and the fist of a very angry father. We especially like the man who mistakes Vaan for a Star Wars character. Sir, if you only knew the profound insight your gambit displayed regarding this Final Fantasy in particular.
Fans of public videogame theatrics should note that the Mega64 Time! DVD set is now available to purchase, view and vicariously feel embarrassed about.
It's HONOR! As Bender is American I ... Wait Bender was made in Mexico. Wait further I'm talking about Dr. Zoidberg from the planet of the hideous crab people. Regardless he's an American green card holder and uses Americanese. So gets off my e-lawn!

Uhm... Well, thing is - If anyone realizes that this is from a game, they'll probably laugh their ass off at the fact someone is willing to go this far. If they don't know it's from a game(more than likely), they'll just think he's being a tool.
Whats with the fat guy acting all tough? I would've let him hit me and sue him for all this worth (not that its much)... I mean... they did have video proof. Stupid rednecks
What was with the guy in the costume acting like a total obnoxious dick?
While I think the Mega64 stuff is funny in concept, fanguad makes a really good point. Stuff like this does not shed a positive light on gaming. What may be funny to some gamers is merely obnoxious to others.
I just checked out some of their other videos. Their Resident Evil 4 one was hilarious. The Super Mario Bros. one was pretty cool too just cause they had a special guest star...I won't give it away...
I don't know what's worse. Someone pretending to be Vaan in real life or psycho-steroid-guy. As creepy as Not-Vaan was, that big guy probably has bigger issues. I agree that not-Vaan should have let himself get hit just to ruin steroid-guy's life (and because Vaan impersonators deserve to be beaten.)
I wouldn't worry too much about them giving gamers a bad name. People who don't know anything about gaming are the only one's who'd be influenced by this, but since they probably won't recognize most of the characters they won't know a reference to video games is even being made, so it doesn't make much of a difference. There are a couple other videos that give bad names to gamers... like the one where they talk about Voting in the VGA's to old people. Other than that people are generally just confused and don't think "video games" when they see these guys. They just think "freak."

Mistook for a Star Wars character AND a peadophile in one day? As Dr Zoidberg would say "What An Honour!"

Why does he pronounce it wrong? They even show the proper pronunciation up front, so it's not like he has an excuse.
Also, yay for giving gamers a worse name than they already have. Thanks.

In that special episode Link hides himself before the master can notice him.

Whats with the "giving gamers a bad name" crap?
Put simply, its not obvious its from a game unless you know the game, and then its funny because you get the joke.
I agree with baud, should of let the skinhead hit him

Yeah... I second the notion, why does he screw up the pronunciation so badly? That ruined the skit for me.
Martez @ Jul 27th 2007 1:23AM
Because the voice actors' mangled pronunciation in the game. Actually, I don't know, but it would be sort of clever if that was the case.
