A Rockstar representative tells GamesRadar that there is no advantage to owning the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV over Xbox 360. He says they are identical games, and then you can almost hear the slap, "But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose." See what $50 million will get those Xbox kids? But remember, Microsoft is still going to charge for the extra content, so it's not like the core game is any different.
"Will the episodes ever see the light of day on the PS3?" is the real question. The word "exclusive" in the video game industry is almost as flexible as Alanis Morissette's use of the word "ironic." Exclusive, timed exclusive ... ironic, coincidence -- who knows what words mean anymore. As long as Sony offers up some cash, we think they could get the episodes too -- you know, if they did that sort of thing.

The people buying the PS3 version out of spite are funny.
"Damn that Rockstar! I'll show them! With my money!"
Spending $500-600 for a blu-ray player that just happens to play games is A-Ok, but downloadable content? The devil incarnate.

I agree with you Shockgamer.
The hypocrisy is hysterical to me. This game is going to be huge. Its the first TRUE sequel in the series for a long time. Anticipation for this game is probably high as fuck. And in all honesty I think Halo 3 is the only game that surpasses it right now...for the 360 that is...
BluRay can go to hell.

so, the 360 version will cost $59 + price of downloads, while PS3 version will cost $59 + time it takes for downloads to eventually be released on PSN, for free possibly...

Well, I'll be getting this one the 360 for a number of reasons.
Extra content, the superior controller, LIVE, achievements and just because I wouldnt be caught dead with a PS3 as the real world sees you as mentally retarded for having spent $600 on a console with no games! "But hey, Its got Blu-Ray.." F'Off, I download Xvids

I wish there was a way to reply to your replies.
Autopsy15, apparently you've never downloaded Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles, and you;ve obviously never played Half-Life 2 Episode: 1. Shivering Isles added another 30-40 hours to Oblivion, and Episode 1 added about another 20 hours to Half-Life 2.
If you'll read above, or any article referring to the GTAIV content, you'll see that they are being referred to as episodes and expansions, not simply "downloadable content" meaning that they extend the storyline of the game in some size able fashion. If MS is putting $50 Million behind this stuff, you'd better believe that somewhere in the contract MS addressed that the downloadable content must be substantial in someway. I really don't think MS would pay $50 Million so Rockstar would release some more horse armor for GTAIV, they have more business sense than that.
My guess? Two packs that not only add new cars and other things, but also add at least another 20 hours of game play each. Rockstar has a reputation to uphold, they're known for making some of the best games in the biz. This isn't EA were talking about here.

My thoughts exactly. My theory is the 5th area of New York will arrive, providing new landscape, cars, weapons, vehicles and story. Staten Island anyone?
(I think I'm spelling Staten wrong but on the other hand have never been to or visited new york).

That’s all Microshlong has up their collective sleeves for the time being…….bribing publishers. Congrats. I never bought extra content when I had my two Broke-Box 420s anyways.

One thing that keeps popping up here about the GTA content is the idea that MS are 'bribing' Rockstar in order to secure exclusive rights to the new content. What the hell? How long have you been playing games? Sony's been doing this for years! GTA3! GTA Vice City! Sony's willing to drive a dump truck full of money onto a developer's lot for many games, so please don't act like this is a personal affront when Microsoft does it.

Well the extra content doesn't come until March 2008 plus you have to pay for it. By that time everyone will have beaten the game and nobody will want to download the extra stuff because all Xbox 360 owners will be playing Splinter Cell, Halo Wars and whatever M$ will come out with.

I bought an XBOX360 and a PS3. It doesn't matter if they're coming out on both. That fact is, the RROD has been a serious factor in my gaming experience with my 360 console.
I originally got a core version of 360 and I have to say, I'm not too trilled about paying for XBL, nor purchasing additional content, or buying additional peripherals on a machine that has such a high risk of over heating on me..
Sorry, if I'm going to be playing 90+ hours on a console, I am not going to be burdened by the fear that my XBOX may scratch my disk and burn out on me again.
I'd buy the PS3 version over the XBOX for those reasons alone.
