"Sega won for being the industry's "Publishing Hero""

They just lost all of their credibility.

I went down the list and I think it basically sucks.

Sony won the developer Gran Prix. I know they have a lot of heavy hitting titles on the horizon, but what 1st party titles exactly has Sony released in the last year?

I am mad confused. The article makes it sound like they got the award for releasing the Playstation 3, which has seen weak sales and little to no groundbreaking software.

Shouldn't Nintendo or Ubisoft or someone get the developer award?

To clarify my above post, since it sounds like more fanboyism than intended:

They make it sound like Sony was given the award for releasing hardware, not for their games that they developed over the last year. And it is an award for best developer.

Sony's 1st parties are awesome, don't get me wrong, but they should be more in the running for next year than this year, what with them actually releasing some games over the next year and having been busy just developing last.

Even though I hate to admit it, Sony is turning things around, albeit slowly. Still, I hardly think they deserve any praise for the massive failure that was the PS3 launch. Europe got the thing a half a year later, hardly something to win an award over.

"Well hey, you acted like we weren't important for the global launch, and even 6 months into the lifespan, we've still only got a few noteworthy games, but hey, here's an award."

Complete rubbish. Anyone who complains about MS paying for games should complain to Sony about buying awards, because it's either that, or Develop is completely out of touch.

Its hard to argue with the technology that the award is being given for. The PS3(harware wise) is a great machine. They just need some more great games. Its nice that a lot of them are on the horizon. phyched to go home and try the HS demo!

The PS3 is a fine piece of hardware. It is just that the award was for best developer, I thought. That should have nothing to do with whether or not you are also a hardware manufacturer. Right? I must be reading into it wrong. Because Sony the developer was busy making games last year, but didn't really release anything other than a few PSP games.

Did Sony have to pay $50 million for this award?

Some awards they handed out worked, like Crush getting "best new handheld IP", but i wouldn't agree with much else they did

but that's just me

I have the feeling that this Console generation's leadership will be fought for in Europe. The Xbox360 Boat at the PS3 lauch was D-Day. But little did they know that Nintendo has seeded both sides with fighters for their own cause.

"Sony was crowned the Grand Prix winner, capping 12 months which have seen the firm deliver a new hardware format that has inspired developers around the world to make cutting-edge next generation games and continue its tradition supporting great ideas devised by both its internal studios and external partners.”

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA okay

*Yawn* Xbox 360 is failing and so is Microsoft with its extremely poor operating system. Sony is rising and PlayStation 3 is now beginning to sell like hot-cakes. The original Xbox lasted three years before Microsoft thought they were wise and introduced Xbox 360 prematurely. I laugh at all you dip-shits who bought one far too soon and actually have the guts to state PS3 is nothing in comparison. It's got more up to date technology you fucking idiots.
