I go strapless when playing Pokemon Battle Revolution. That game is all point and click. Oh and Super Paper Mario, my left-handedness doesn't go well with the bottom of the Wiimote on the right side.

Anyone not wearing their wrist strap is a walking hazard.

During sideways I dont wear it at all. Wii sports or anything else that involves a lot of motion I wear the strap.

Games like Resident Evil not so much

I make my kids wear the wrist strap, my in laws have to wear the wrist strap, my absolutely needs to wear it, and finally i don't need to wear it. I am very careful and 2 broken Wii remotes later, I now wear the wrist strap for most of the games. Damn Tiger Woods golf.

I use the Wii glove. The rubber creates enough grip that I don't need to use the strap.

I haven't used it since it broke off during Wii bowling. No flying Wiimotes since then.

It all dependes on the game...Wii Sports Bowling...you betcha' Im wearing it...Excite Truck, not so much...but I have large hands and am left handed so its not very comfortable to wear it then.

In games like Twilight Princess or The Godfather, I would wear it, but only because I got tired of the strap slapping my wrists/hands everytime I waved my sword or was manhandling some shop keeper.

I have the Nyko rechargeables with the grippy texture battery cover, and it increases grip a lot.

I don't use the straps. I've never seen anybody send a Wiimote flying, not even the noobiest of noobs ( not trying to insult people here btw, it's only a matter of time before it does happen I guess ). But if people are afraid they'll ruin 40 Euros worth of Wiimote I'll happily attach a strap for them.

Now kids... Wear a wrist strap every time. If someone asks you to play without protection, just say NO! I don't care how much better it feels without the strap. It's just not worth the risk.

I have to agree with flamingsquirrel... I really don't see how its possible, even with Wii-Bowling.

If you are a small child (or drunk) I could understand, but if you are 20-something and still can't hold onto something tight enough for it to not fly out of your hands and break your TV, then you might need to get that checked out.

Low motion (paper mario, VC games etc.) no. High motion (bowling etc.) you betcha. I'm 26, sober and have nearly smashed many a window. The problem is not so much with being out of your mind or an idiot as it is with being distracted or "overly invested" if you will, in the game. When you're really into it how tightly your gripping a piece of smooth plastic with sweaty hands is not always the top thing in your mind. If you've got dry hands, a rubber glove, or arn't that into the moment then it's not a problem, it's those time when you lose touch with reality for just a second while making a stylish flourish (read "fool of your self") that danger arises... Plus like #8 said, some games the strap just gets anoying if it's not on. Don't really need it but I'm not going to take it off on account of those occasions when I do.

Also, you can't always trust friends and family to not drop things that cost 40 bucks a pop. I'd put wrist straps on all my "party game" controllers for all my consoles if I could... Add in the interest of the rents and their friends in the Wii (my parents bum my Wii for a few days every time I take it over there) and you could be looking to buy controllers in bulk.

I'd rather get another game than replace a remote. I'll buckle up.

I have the strap on my two extra wiimotes, but took it off mine a while back. I don't need it for RE4 or Super Paper Mario, and it seems like a waste to put it on. If I'm getting into a serious game of bowling though...

I don't use it for the calm games, but it's always there. And I make sure guests use 'em too.

I'm generally don't flail about like a retarded epileptic monkey when I'm gaming, so I don't worry about using the wrist strap unless I'm doing something like a sports game where I'm actually using motion and not just shaking the wiimote or pointing with it.

I don't use the strap. I've never had problems. I play WiiSports for 45 minutes at a time as part of my workout routine so I'm definitely sweating.. but in no way enough to make it slip.

My suggestion? Get some hand grips and add them to your exercise routine while you're cooling down.

If anyone else plays, they're required to strap in.
It's really not that I don't trust individuals, it's just that if someone I don't trust comes over and sees someone else without the strap on, it gets to be one of those annoying topics of discussion.

Plus, I figure it's a lot less tense since no one but me could break my Wiimote that way. If someone else broke it, they'd probably only pay me half (jerks...) and this way I know I won't have to ask someone to pay for a whole Wiimote (plus whatever else they break...)

I think when you've played enough motion-intensive games, you come to realize that the sensor actually pegs out at a very low acceleration, something like 3 G's (3x the force of gravity), so you can only yank the thing so hard before it stops making a difference. I still wear the strap for e.g. bowling, but I never use enough force that I worry about losing grip.

Okay seriously you got to be an idiot to actually break the string. This proves that most of the Wii gamers are kids. I've had my Wii for so long and swiing the Wiimote by it's strap and still has not broke. The same goes for the PSP , anyone considering the PSP fragile is just an idiot who needs to live in a bubble. I don't even have a case for my PSP and left it on the roof of my car and drove off and still works Perfectly.

didnt know you were supposed to let go of the wiimote in any game for anything, it makes it worse for bowling in wii sports too since it measure spin by moving the controller to a certain direction in the downswing...

"I generally don't flail about like a retarded epileptic monkey..." nice =]
