Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in. In a stockholder meeting yesterday Frank Gibeau, head of EA Games, said Godfather 2 is currently in development. Fredo Corleone better watch out. Although, he's still got time to make up his mind if going fishing is a smart idea, the game currently has no official announcement or release date.
We expect Godfather II to have a more expansive San Andreas feel to it compared to the original. Godfather II the film not only had many more locations than The Godfather, but it also had two different time periods. It may actually be cool if the developers allow you to play a character who skips back and forth through time working for Vito and Michael. An official announcement should explain much more in the coming months, but considering The Godfather for Wii was made by using a scaled down version of the PS3 game, it looks like all console owners will be able to enjoy the sequel.

You know, I really did enjoy the Godfather game, though it did get repetitive by the end. Hopefully the sequel will have an even stronger narrative and even more things to do. I have always felt it was really underrated both as a game and as one of the few movie-to-game translations worth playing.
I agree with you about being able to go back and forth in time in the course of the game. It only makes sense, if you ask me.

The Wii version was real hot! You really can't beat snatching up a dude and tossing him in the street. Theres just something visceral about it.
Heres hoping the next versions gfx get a nice bump. But I'm getting it anyway.

I've never watched the movies but have been spoiled to several of the endings. Do you think I should watch them?

The first Godfather game was fairly good, and had some interesting ideas.
But at the same time it wasn't too respectful to the source material. It was also way too derivative of GTA, although you can say that about a lot of other popular games.
The Godfather was fun enough, but Mafia was a better Mob-based game.

Remeber EA you chose the wrong the horses by backing 360 and PS3 so make this game for the Wii and spare us PS3/360 owners the pain of seeing another crappy game on our system.. The Godfather was garbage and same with your DLC rip-off scams for it on the 360.

I liked the Godfather, especially The Blackhand edition.
I highly this will be based on Part II, though that is my favorite movie.

The only reason I ended up getting this for Wii was because I had no PS3 and the 360 version had less content.
It ended up being one of the best Wii games I played, but whether I get the sequel on Wii depends entirely on if EA actually makes the 360 version next gen instead of just porting up from PS2/Wii.

The Godfather game is one of the most repetitive games I've ever played. There were pretty much like four or five levels that all the buildings were based on and once you figured out a strategy to take those building effectively, you could just waltz through the entire game. Luckily I picked it up when it was in the sub $20 range so I didn't feel that ripped off. I wouldn't pay for the sequel unless it was in the same price range which I'm sure it will be eventually.
When people trumpet this for Wii as why the system isn't for kids, it really makes me laugh my ass off. A half-ass GTA clone with a clumsy licensed property attached as the story is no way to sell your system as not being kiddy. It is another damn port....meh. Who cares if you can waggle your way around in that version. It is still an old game rehashed for the Wii. Will they get they sequel a year and half later as well?
