An adult passenger is being interviewed.

Why?

They made a mistake, what the fuck are they interviewing the person for?

by "being interviewed" they mean "already en route to Guantanamo".

"....and keep your DS and/or PSP on your body at all times."

Yeah, that way they can just shoot you instead.

reminds me of the kid who was banned from flying Northwest because he had a book with a picture of a bomb on the cover.

i like the term "handheld game board".
is that the newest system coming out from nintendo?

good thing TSA agents don't have to have any sort of common sense or rationality to them, or else we might be in trouble when they try to "keep us safe from terrorism"

The TSA is really on it, they've been seizing all sorts of stuff from people.
"The Associated Press reported that the alert came after curious seizures since last September at airports in San Diego, Milwaukee, Houston, and Baltimore. Items seized, according to the bulletin, included "wires, switches, pipes or tubes, cellphone components, and dense claylike substances," including block cheese."

Yep, cheese. The main ingredient of fondue, which may result in an explosion of fun and flavor.

I know I feel safer.

from newsday.com:

Seizures of four unusual packages since September prompted the agency last Friday to tell airport security officials to watch for "ordinary items that look like improvised explosive device components." The memo, titled "Incidents at U.S. Airports May Suggest Possible Pre-Attack Probing," said the seizures "raise concern" that terrorists may be trying to "desensitize, distract or adapt plans" in advance of an attack.

just google 'TSA' and you'll see why they may have doone this, instead of only part of the story. may seems ridiculous now, considering the device was safe, but still...someone is not going to smuggle a case of c4 straight out of Rainbow Six onto a plane in a suitcase. they might try and bring aboard in a "handheld game board".

I can understand that seeing a small PCB with wires all over it might catch your interest, but as soon as you inspect further and see that there isn't an ounce of explosives attached to it, surely you can conclude it ISN'T a bomb?

Dan you don't get it, the intel is saying the terrorists might do "Dry Runs" to test the security at an airport. The "Block of cheese" that someone glibly remarked about above was duct taped to a cellphone, much in the manner that a real IED might be duct taped to a cellphone (Cellphone being the detonator). I feel better knowing that atleast SOMEONE is on the lookout for suspicious items and activity at the airports. Something as simple as a PSP or DS (with their wifi capability) could be used in an IED, so it's a good thing that they are keeping a look out. I know it's tough, but these are the types of things that have to happen for us to stay safe.

Yeah, although the airport security is irritating, it's certainly necessary. I feel pretty safe when flying knowing that airport security over-does things.

But I did get my cellphone charger taken away once :(.

Do you remember the pre-paranoia days when planes were blown up left and right by people carrying electronic devices on planes ? No ? Me neither.

Terrorists won't attack planes with cheese and killer bees from Africa won't sting you either.

Yeah, they have been effective, but there certainly has to be a better way (the simplest way would just be incresing an airport's capacity to clear more people through security at once, a little more automation and a bit more work for the security personnell would really help)

Of course airport's just need more capacity in general, a lot of waiting and much airline incompetence...
