All you have to do is go the gamevideos.com and look at the clip titled Heavenly Sword 'Evil Boss Cut Scene' to see they are telling a story with such incredible depth.

I wasnt impressed with the demo. There was too much screen tearing for me and a few glitches (people floating in air).. hopefully its only an issue with the demo.

The game has a very deep battle system and the facial animations and voice acting are the best ive seen in a game. And, you CANT jump! Maybe, im a bit spoiled by NGS.

I think this game isn't the killer app that Sony and gamers are seeking for PS3 because this isn't something fresh, new or really innovative, this game is just a God of War clone but with "better" cut scenes, new generation graphics and a female character.

An on rails action game. (kind of) You can't jump or explore areas. It's just timed button presses.

Of course Shane B. was sucking the balls of this game in the video. Fanboy

And of course people that have no interest in the game begin the antisony pile on...as if was going to stop this game from tearing up the charts. That is the humorous part. Sony haters that have never played the title will complain while it gets great reviews, sells like hotcakes and a sequel is announced. Ha ha.

I love Sony, Nintendo and 360 but I hate fan boys!

The clone subject is another aspect that is very subjective, a game can be similar to another but it should at least have is own concept.

Heavenly Sword isn't the ultimate game revolution, is just another game that uses other games ideas in a very obvious and cheap way.

That's odd, why are no previews mimicking you insightful remarks? Because you are wrong. It's that simple. Nothing complicated at all.

Great cutscenes. Looks like the game has some serious tons as well as humourous ones.

Why has Sony not given her a PS3? Or at least a discount, seriously.

The same reason all 360 writers do not get a 360 from MS. It is a some do and some don't kind of thing.

Oh I know 360 writers don't but that's no reason not for Sony to do it, they could set an example by being one of the first to recognize just how critical writers are to good games by giving them perks like that. I think it's wrong for any big corporation not to do something like that for their employees...

She sounds like a nice lady.

I agree with her regarding cutscenes. They are truly what make a game epic IMO. I love being able to hear whats going on in the world that the developers have created and the backstory going on.

Annoys the hell out of me when someone skips them when we're playing together.

She didn't even get a ps3!? sony is officially pathetic...not even a discount.

Although its kinda shameful on her part that she doesn't even have a ps3 to begin with since shes writing for a ps3.

As for Goddess of War I don't know much about the story except what I've read and seen on IGN. Just a girl with a sword trying to get justice on some evil king. And the sword takes the life out of her as you progress. And shes got a lil sister who appears to be drugged or retarded.

That doesn't look too epic to me. Although I'm sure the lady wrote some great dialogue.

How epic could it seem to you when by your own admission you know little about the story. There is something retarded here alright.

GearsMaster:
"Although its kinda shameful on her part that she doesn't even have a ps3 to begin with since shes writing for a ps3."

I see what you mean, except that at the time she was working on Heavenly Sword "consumer" PS3 hardware wasn't even close to being released/available yet.. As she says herself, entire projects (Overlord - and probably more) have come and gone since her work on Heavenly Sword.

You have to remember how long ago this game was announced, and that it's slipped quite a few dates since then.. which I guess is kinda understandable when you look at the size of the task they've set themselves.

I see your point c-span. Plus games can change platforms. Although the chance of that happening here was slim to none. I just found it a lil odd when I read it.

And morganfell I can guage if something is epic from reading and watching a few trailers right?

Maybe you want me to devote an entire day to reading on Heavenly Sword but thats not going to happen. As I was posting I was reviewing what I knew and immediately afterwards I went to go find out some more.

The storyline still doesn't seem that radical or epic to me.

Its a personal opinion.

Well, I had little interest in this game until I read this, or I read the line where it says she is Terry Pratchett's daughter. Now I'm very intrigued as I love Discworld.

Man I would love to play this..

Too bad I won't by sony products.

As for all the "This is just a clone"

Every story is a clone too, just a different wrapper, different time, and a different setting. Its called an Archetype. They are common patterns. Is it any surprise that the best games tend to create a pattern or follow another pattern? How often do games create a new pattern which everyone tries to follow? Not very often. Should we disregard all the games made in between?

I didn't feel too concerned by this game mainly because Heavenly Sword is a console game (whereas I have none) exploiting a genre (action) about which I know little.

But that interview was fantastic: I'd enjoy witnessing how the game turns out. Just like GearsMaster said, she does sound like a nice lady, and an erudite one in fact. ;)

Cool interview, very interesting.

however, I wish you hadn't kept forcing the subject back to the boring looking Heavenly Sword.. she clearly wanted to talk about overlord, which seems like a much more interesting game.. and a much more interesting subject to talk about.

Heavenly Sword is her latest, of course she wants to talk about it. Duh!

Heavenly Sword will engulf Overlord as far as press, publicity, and reviews. She'll talk about Overlord later since it is now coming to the PS3.
