After finding one of the Wii Fit games to be lacking in challenge, MTV News reporter and master of balance, Stephen Totilo, hoped to up the ante by lowering himself to the ground and turning the game's Balance Board into more of a stability seat. The resulting video confirms that Wii Fit can be played in full couch potato posture, most likely with a beer in one hand and a bag of nachos in the other. Take that, exergaming!
Of course, even minimal effort unlocks countless gaming possibilities and we honestly can't wait for the likes of Warioga, Metroid Meditation and of course, Mario and Ghandi at the Non-cooperation Gatherings. Careful you don't strain yourself too much though -- despite popular opinion, Wii Fit is not good enough... for you to poop on. (highlight to read)

Don't laugh. Studies have shown the "fidgeting", even while sitting, has a small but measurable improvement on people's health.

Thats true! I read that too. People who fidget are more likely to be not obese.
Thats the thing about Wii. Sometimes I just want to sit and play. I don't want to continually stand and sit, waggle and point, make Ravin Rabbids mad at me because I'm not sitting close enough to the damned tv. I usually play Wario Ware in the laziest way possible.
Call me lazy but when I get home from work I want to relax.

They had a smash hit with WiiSports and Miis with the casual crowd. But, now what?
I suspect they are running out of ideas to keep the hype among the causal crowd. I know a lot of casual gamers who are still only playing WiiSports months after they purchased their Wii. They're not interested in BrainAge or Wario Ware... they want more WiiSports.
The attach rates with these folks is basically ZERO.
Meanwhile, after E3, the gamer crowd has seen that Nintendo has nothing for them, nothing at all.. unless you're into Mario, Mario, Metroid 9, Pokemon Battle 17, Zelda 14, Mario, etc.. there's nothing.

You are an idiot, why? You check the sales, casuals games are raping "hardcore games" Nintendogs has sold more then halo, halo 2, gears of war, and essentially every Microsoft Game every made.
Mario Party 8 is leading the NPD figures. Wii Play is raping the competition. Seriously... the Wii could have no games and outsell 360 and PS3 combined.
Oh wait... it already is. Anyway, I digress
This "Wii Sit" is stupid. That is all.

What reality are you living in? Attachment rates for the Wii are HIGH. Just peep the software numbers fool! Why come in here and make such baseless statements?
And yeah theres not gonna be ANY games for the Wii. ONLY every single 3rd party is expressing interest(including Rockstar! Never thought that would happen.
Nin isn't running out of good ideas, they're running out of good windows to release they're games.
And you're all wrong about WiiFit. Its gonna explode like Tai-bo.
See me in a year and I'll rub it in your face.

I can't say I'm impressed with WiiFit or the balance board, and I agree the Wii could use some better software support for non-casual gamers, but it's hard to argue the Big N is having problems with its attach rate when four of last month's top sellers were Wii titles (three if you don't count WiiPlay as a game).

And even if you don't personally care for Mario, Metroid, Pokemon or Zelda, those are some of the most successful franchises ever, so of course Nintendo's going to milk them.

How about those million-seller games? are people buying them to not play them?

@Evan:
Yes, SSBM sold more than Halo (6 million vs. 5 million), but Halo 2 outsold them both (8 million).
Though, I care not for the Halo franchise (played the PC version, didn't care much for it), I've heard from most fans that the first was far superior than the sequel.

Wii golf could be revolutionary (joke, get it) with the wii fit board and a wiimote. using the board to analyze the golfers body movement and the wiimote to track the user's swing. I have a PS3 and plan on getting a 360 before halo drops, but if they came out with a super realistic golf simulator I'd be there.

That's actually a pretty neat idea, as long as people don't get too carried away to the point where they'd lose balance off the board. =)
Realistic golf may be fun, but we shouldn't expect something that would be simulating golf extremely accurately because if a game has too many constraints, would it be fun for all?

i think u guys are forgetting, that no matter how many casual gamers fall for nintendos trendy wii-[insert word here] gimmick, casual gamers just dont buy enough software to sustain a *home* console.
this isnt the DS, we arent talking about $120 hardware and $20-30 games.
we're talking about a $250 machine and $50 games here.
the people who bought a wii just for wii sports probably havent bought a game since, and if they did, it was more than likely wii-play.
while the attatch rate for the 360 is around 5 or 6 i think..which is insane..cuz "hardcore" gamers buy many more games and on avg spend more money on game related products than a soccer mom or a grandfather.
the wii will however get national attention for wii fit, oprah, the morning show etc will cover it, and the wii will do fine this holiday, but is that growing the industry creatively? mario party, wii-play and wii sports have all gotten so-so reviews, mostly becuase these casual games just dont pack enough punch and are relatviely light on content and/or challenge.
is this wat the industry needs? i know nintendo is banking right now but how is that benefitting the core nintendo gamer, or the industry in general?
how much money will grandma residually make for nintendo over 5 years? anywhere near the amount of moneny a hardcore gamer will?
i highly doubt it.
i think this philosophy works infinitely better on a handled platform than a home console.
wii fit is what, $60? so a causual gamer will need to cough up $310 to play with nintendos new contraption? thats no where near cheap for a person who doesnt play games frequently or has never played them at all.
im suprised nintendo fans arent more livid over this. i mean they get 3 solid titles this holiday that are getting little to no attention from nintendo, but wat after that? new franchises like project hammer and disaster get "indefinately postponed", wat is next for nintendo? are they going to come out with a new gimmick for the LIFETIME network crowd every year?

The only thing I dont like about Nintendo is that they are trying to compensate the lack of graphics with crap like the wii fit.Really Nintendo I would pay an extra 200$ bucks if you only update the Wii graphics. Those minigames look horrible, like really boring flash games and most of the wii games look PSPish. For the PSP is great but for a console that is well now more expensive than a handheld and suppose to be better is quite lame really.

Well, it certainly appeared a lot quicker than the video of the guy playing Wii Sports whilst sprawled on his couch
I still say that this game is going to be a sales coup, even if i'm not interested (unless it is sold with the Balance Board, as i feel it should be)

Honestly, this is probably the best thing to happen for Wiifit.
think about it, everyone was going "Wow, I'll look like a spaz if I have to wave my arms around like that!" but then a couple months later, they realize they don't have to.
Now people are complaining "I don't want to have to stand up to play, I want to be able to sit down an relax!" And now, roughly a week after E3, they find out you can sit down to play! Tada!

I'm sorry, but I can't take any article seriously that contains the phrase "MTV News". If Nintendo's trying to get away from their "kiddie" image then the first thing they need to do is avoid MTV like the plague.
