This game has been out in the UK for some time now.
I still don't have it though :(
I'll see you online when I get it. Till then can someone send me a Miyamoto Mii Please?
Make sure you send mail so I can add you back.

Konny and Kye, I added you guys and should be picking up Strikers on Wednesday. Does anyone know of any discounts/deals on it? Circuit City usually does $40 for new Wii releases, but aren't for Strikers. Bastards.
JodyAnthony, where have you been?
Konny @ Jul 30th 2007 12:56PM
Ummm... I was just kidding guys; i dont even have a Wii. I posted that number to highlight the ridiculousness of having game-specific Friend Codes.
In MSC, you can play random people, without voice chat or knowing their names, but, if you want to play your best friend or your buddy in another room... you have to enter their 16 digit code? Makes no sense in 2007.
(i hope that isnt someone else Friend Code)
Travis @ Jul 30th 2007 1:05PM
Yea, knowing your previous comments, I kind of doubted you had a Wii. Well anyway, Kye I added you.
Kye @ Jul 30th 2007 1:24PM
Konny, I just took you off my buddies list!
Lord Chako @ Jul 30th 2007 2:34PM
Ha,
If it really was 1995, we wouldn't have wireless networks (atleast not for your average consumer), and we'd be using 14.4 modems!
Crono @ Jul 30th 2007 11:40AM
My wii had to pick this week to crap out, AGAIN.
Don't leave your standby connection running, btw. Wii gets hot, with no fan action, and causes issues with the GPU. Its happened to me twice now.
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 30th 2007 11:49AM
blah blah improper ventilation blah blah you blah can blah pirates/ blah eye blah blah blah patches/ blah blah blah etc. etc. night vision!
vidGuy @ Jul 30th 2007 11:52AM
Bummer, but I've heard its a small percentage of the GPUs, not the result of heat due to WiiConnect24. I've had my system either on or on WC24 since launch day, 24/7 and have had no problems. Actually, the only problem I've ever had with my Wii is it wouldn't connect to the Shop Channel for an afternoon.
JodyAnthony @ Jul 30th 2007 11:55AM
Happened to me as well. Sent it in, got it back about 4 days later. I leave wiiconnect24 off now, just in case.
Vidikron @ Jul 30th 2007 2:52PM
Interesting. I've run mine in standby since day 1 (and I got it on release day) and it has never crapped out on me.
Curmeo @ Jul 30th 2007 11:48AM
this is Nintendo's idea of a "new-gen" online service debut? 4 player online, no voice chat, and game-specific friend codes/Mii codes.
lol they're really milking out their customers by not providing a proper online service, unlike PSN and Xbox Live.
hvnlysoldr @ Jul 30th 2007 11:49AM
Leaderboards across the nation in ranked matches.
josh @ Jul 31st 2007 11:25AM
how are they milking them, if they aren't charging for online play? what are they milking them for?
JodyAnthony @ Jul 30th 2007 11:50AM
3 comments in and curmeo and konny already get started. you two are pathetic.
I'll be picking up Brave Story this week for sure. Not too interested in anything else this week. MAYBE that harvest moon game. I'll have to check out some reviews.
Curmeo @ Jul 30th 2007 12:00PM
hey look, 4 comments in and JodyAnthony is too insecure to hear any criticism of Wii's online service.
Matters @ Jul 30th 2007 12:16PM
Curmeo if anybody is insecure it's you. Why else would you feel the need to bring your trash talk? Is it because you're jealous about the success of the Wii and this is your way of blowing off steam?
jimy @ Jul 30th 2007 12:18PM
haha touche curmeo

what do i have to be insecure about? i dont give a damn if people dont like wii. hell I havent played my own in about 2 weeks now. im not the type of person that has to come into every single thread on this site and berate a damn inanimate object like you.
Jack of No Trades @ Jul 30th 2007 12:34PM
Jody
The word of the day is ""OPINION"". It is means personal view. ok
Tomorrows word is ""BLOG"".
These two words go hand in hand. I will shed more light on it after you take your nap sweety.
Curmeo @ Jul 30th 2007 12:35PM
"what do i have to be insecure about? i dont give a damn if people dont like wii. hell I havent played my own in about 2 weeks now."
hmm i dont know, maybe calling people pathetic based on criticism of Wii's online service?
"im not the type of person that has to come into every single thread on this site and berate a damn inanimate object like you."
you mean Wii isnt human?! oh damn, thanks for the tip. i guess by "berating a damn inanimate object..." i was actually refering to the robots who created Wii.
JodyAnthony @ Jul 30th 2007 12:45PM
actually i was calling you pathetic because you come into 90% of these comment threads and post the same thing over and over again. if you are going to criticize the system can you at least come up with something original? "LOLZ GIMMIC DUCT TAPE FRIEND CODES!" can only take you so far.
Curmeo @ Jul 30th 2007 2:30PM
"actually i was calling you pathetic because you come into 90% of these comment threads and post the same thing over and over again."
hey retard, when an article on the same topic is posted or when a discussion of the same topic is being held, repetitions will take place.
"if you are going to criticize the system can you at least come up with something original?"
lol wtf that does even mean? i dont care if you find my criticisms unoriginal.
"LOLZ GIMMIC DUCT TAPE FRIEND CODES!" can only take you so far."
yeah, the friend codes arguement can only take me so far. thats why i mentioned the lack of voice chat and limited 4 player online gameplay. i could keep going on with how Wii's online service sucks, even compared to last gen online services for PS2 and DC, but i'll spare your insecure head for now.
dpad @ Jul 30th 2007 4:33PM
Curmeo,
Sit on a rusty nail and rotate. Mindless trolling is so 2006.
Go ask Optimus Prime.
Karen @ Jul 30th 2007 11:55AM
I'm thinking about getting Mario Strikers just to play a fun soccer game with my sons.
I definitely picking up Picross. It sounds like the perfect thing for hot summer days outside with a glass of Ice Tea.
JodyAnthony @ Jul 30th 2007 11:57AM
picross is fantastic. I imported the european version and then 2 days later it was announced for the US. Oh well, totally worth it IMO
Pawsaldo @ Jul 31st 2007 5:55AM
It is fun, the best fun on the Wii to be honest,
I recommend this game even if you don't like Football.
However single player is HARD and I mean it
But playing 4 players against a computer is fun :D
Jerk Face @ Jul 30th 2007 12:01PM
What a shitty VC showing this week.
Where the hell is Super Metroid already? I've been itching for it for months and my SNES cartridge is dying and likes to randomly erase my games half way through and emulators suck hard.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Jul 30th 2007 12:07PM
WHAT. I shake my Dynamite Headdy at you in disappointment. :)
Stabface Pro @ Jul 30th 2007 4:12PM
No shit, Super Metroid is all I'm waiting for at this point but instead all we get is loaf after steamy loaf of Turboooographix 16 games squeezed out onto our sad little faces...
Matthew @ Jul 30th 2007 12:01PM
That box art is TOTALLY CHARGED!
Jack of No Trades @ Jul 30th 2007 12:08PM
When are they releasing Mario Billiards and Mario Sewing.
Kye @ Jul 30th 2007 12:18PM
Ahhh It's HIM!!!
Run away, run away!
Run away I said in case you didn't hear me the first two times!
Jack of No Trades @ Jul 30th 2007 12:26PM
Don't run my children. I am all that is holy. I will shed light where there is darkness. I will bring knowledge and peace to the ignorant beast and open the door to bliss and sadness.

It is he who must not be named.
Cower in terror. Go into hiding all ye nintenbloods. Make sure you have at least 1 sony console.

while i may not agree with the comments of Jack of No Trades at least he puts more thought and humor into them than Konny, Jack you're an inspiration to interweb trolls everywhere

"Don't run my children. I am all that is holy. I will shed light where there is darkness. I will bring knowledge and peace to the ignorant beast and open the door to bliss and sadness."
You sound like Karl Rove!
Jack of No Trades @ Jul 30th 2007 1:52PM
lol Karl Rove
Kye @ Jul 30th 2007 12:17PM
Fuck me!
Mario is so hard he has a frickin' gear where his wrist should be!
Martin @ Jul 30th 2007 12:23PM
It's an accessory. Like the Mighty Bangle of the Beyondness.
samfish @ Jul 30th 2007 1:42PM
He also has breasts in other pieces of Strikers art.
Peach and Daisy are probably jealous of Mario's huge gazongas. He's easily a DD.
OnimushaSoki @ Jul 30th 2007 12:27PM
I swear, it feels like there should be a tickertape parade for Nintendo every time an online title gets released. :\ I was hoping with the new system that I'd get a bit more online games(NOT POKEMON >_
chenry @ Jul 30th 2007 12:28PM
Marathon! Marathon! Marathon! Oh god, I'm excited :D
OnimushaSoki @ Jul 30th 2007 12:28PM
(message cut off)
...than the GCN years. However, thus far, it's more of the same. Thankfully, the reviews look good for 'Strikers, so that's great to hear.
RayDog35 @ Jul 30th 2007 12:55PM
Hey serious question,
Do you think Nintendo has gone this frustrating online route to keep parents of little kids using the machine happy and safe? As a youth pastor, I have parents who are leery of x-box live because of the nature of the people on there. It seems silly to me that Nintendo keeps doing this and making it so hard to get an online game going. What do you think the real reasons are for it?
Shmil @ Jul 30th 2007 1:48PM
Thats an interesting theory and may be one of nintendo's reasons for not having a lot on online play but nintendo has always been about making games that are fun to play in groups together ever since the NES they have always tried to make multiplayer essential, the gameboy had the link cable, n64 had 4 ports etc. whereas microsoft has always focused on bring friends together through the internet
but to answer your question i think they just care more about players physically being together in groups rather than over a microphone
warioswoods @ Jul 30th 2007 2:46PM
Yes, of course, Nintendo does have a very different strategy as regards multiplayer, which consists of 2 parts:
1: An emphasis on getting many people together in the same room, rather than online. As stated, the N64 had four controller ports, something than has been essential to the Nintendo multiplayer experience ever since. They also pretty much singlehandedly invented party games, and have to great lengths at times to expand them (Mario Party 7 allows 8 players simultaneously). Also, not only do they emphasize 4 or more players being able to go at it in the same room, but they have intelligently scaled difficulties, so that anyone can jump in first time and actually have fun, while there is still a great deal more to master for those who choose to do so. The Mario Kart series is a great example.
2: When enabling any kind of online play, Nintendo goes to great lengths to ensure that it's a 100% safe environment. I have no problem with their system, and in fact I prefer it. You can't talk to someone unless you've exchanged codes with them, so your kids can get online all they want and play against random opponents without any fear of solicitation/offensive behavior. Nintendo's online multiplayer is all about anonymity and fun, not about trash talking.
Curmeo @ Jul 30th 2007 6:41PM
@ warioswoods,
i think you're giving Nintendo more credit than they deserve. 4 controller port consoles existed before and after the N64. Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox etc. any game that features 4 player multiplayer can be considered a party game. there are many non-Nintendo games with intelligently scaled difficulties as well.
now about Nintendo and online. the reason that Wii's online service isnt as feature packed as PSN, Xbox Live, or last-gen online services has mostly to do with maximizing profits. little of it has to do with safety precautions: thats just a cover up excuse Nintendo PR dishes out so they dont look as bad. take Metroid Prime Hunters for example. MPH doesnt support voice chat with friends *during* gameplay. why? DS's hardware cant handle any more data transfering. why? to maximize hardware profits since Nintendo knows they can get away with it. the game only supports 4 player online, much like Mario Strikers Charged. again the same reason behind that. if Nintendo wanted, they could add all the features found in PSN and last-gen free online services and just restrict them to friend codes on Wii(Wii is capable of supporting up to 32 players online, unlike DS where the most we've seen is 4 player online). that would ensure a safe environment.
in Mario Kart DS people draw the most disturbing images for everyone to see online. i saw this one image with a nick "Womb Raider". it was a naked girl being fingered by a sword or something. hows that for a safe environment!
