Curmeo, you're wrong about two things:
1) Saturn only has two controller ports built-in. And multiplayer (beyond 2 players) has been alive as least as far back as the original Game Boy (F1-Race came with a 4-player adapter), and is probably older than that. BUT...

2) DS can do more than 4-player online, but hasn't been done much with. Only example I can think of is Clubhouse Games (8-player for some games).

But, I wou

BUT... warioswoods's point was systems with FOUR PORTS BUILT IN, which N64 was, indeed, first. Both Xbox and GameCube followed suite, but PS2 was the only one to stick with two ports.

But, I wouldn't expect you to know that, being a Nintendo-hating troll.

@ BPM,

point taken about the Saturn. yes i understood warioswood's point about built-in 4 controller port consoles. ill give Nintendo credit for being the first to implement 4 controller ports in a home system.

point also taken about Clubhouse Games. i suspect the online gameplay itself isnt as demanding of data transfering so 8 player support is possible. my point remains though. DS hardware is not capable of handling too much data transfering, versus say PSP or the home consoles including Wii.

"But, I wouldn't expect you to know that, being a Nintendo-hating troll."

a simple insult from a simple person.

The game is AWESOME so far. Love the graphics and the gameplay is great.

Except for the stupid fucking friends codes. I swear Nintendo needs to grow up. Not everyone is 7 years old. At least provide OPTIONS. As in for those of us who don't want friend codes, we shouldn't have to deal with Friend Codes.

I thought the friend codes were tied to mii's now?

You can have random matches. In fact you can't rank in the leader boards with friend matches.

Yes and no

Friend Codes are BOTH game specific AND tied to Miis, so to allow for MORE friend codes

i didn't think they would take any steps forward with Wii online, but i'm shocked at this little step backward...

Oh well, at least the game's supposed to be fun (if its at all like its predecessor, it will be excellent)

I can careless for Friend Codes. They only take like 5 minutes of my time, compared to the endless nights I'll be playing Strikers Charged (once i buy it). They aren't even that difficult to figure out. I memorized my friend code a week after I bought a Wii. It took me 4 minutes. When I get Strikers, it'll be easier, since it is only 12 numbers.

Sure, it is a set back for some, but it isn't hard to make it simpler.

It's pretty damn crazy that Nintendo have been able to put a scowl on the face of an Italian stereotype and people accept Mario as a "fighter" (as in Smash Bros.) or in this case a fierce soccer player. Between that and the excitement that a new color of gameboy seems to cause in the Nintendo lemmings, it's clear that Nintendo is a marketing phenomenon (and that Nintendo players are pretty undemanding). Unbelievable.

Good God, Jack is back!!1!1 When did that happen?

Anyhoo, back on subject - I haven't taken my Wii online yet 'cos I don't have wireless and Nintendo have not yet seen fit to release a driver for the wi-fi dongle thingy so it'll run on Vista yet.

However, I never meet anyone on XBL that I then keep as a friend (except one, after an 8 hour mega session of Uno, and I've not spoken to him since). All my frinds are people I actually know. You know, in real life.

So although I can see how it's annoying that you can't keep random people as friends, it doesn't affect me - I'll either play with people I know or randomly. So I say meh to all the people who hate the Wii's online service. It makes no difference to me.

Its not like they make it IMPOSSIBLE to synchronize with friends, since the Wii does have the messaging system, you only really need to exchange codes once (i.e. the Wii system code) to be able to make a friend, and then everytime you get an online enabled game, just send out a mass-mailing with your code (as i shall do), asking if they have the game and asking to send a code back

Which isn't to say that i don't dislike the code system, it's just that it simply isn't as bleak as people make it out to be

Meh, Friend Codes. I thought they were done with them when they made the Wii, I guess not. Not like Battle Revolution or Strikers Charged are great games anyway.

Nintendo needs to open up online dev kits to third parties if they haven't already. The Wii has a lot of online potential, just not a lot of it has been met.

Good job Nintendo. Now all we need is a unified game NAME (repeat,NAME),friends list, leaderboards, voice chat,voice/text/picture messaging and the ability to send invites to play games.

strikers charged is sooooooooo fun.

but the high ranked people just play cheap with exploits and just plain lameness (such as jumping over the goalie with diddy or using Boo sidekick charge-shot at a certain angle that the goalie cant block). TRIFORCE was ranked 1 (and prolly still is) when i played (i played against him; super-cheap), and i was able to get to rank 6 at a point :)

yeah this game looks SUPER CHARGED. But the point is I can't get it because retailers keep delaying it. It would be fun to play online. And whoever is talking about the wii being late to online should shut up, because we gave the xbox 1year, and we should give the wii one year too. When online is delayed like this, you know something good is happening.
