Anywho, Fernando.. not exactly the TV expert (haven't worked in an electronics store for close to three years) but I can try to answer your question. As for why I've been away, we got hella busier at work. So I don't have quite the free time I'm used to there. So either I'm bored over lunch (I live like 5 minutes away so I eat at home on the cheap), or it's evening and I'm just browsing.

Respecting the TV question... I have a 42" Sharp Aquos 1080 TV. My 360 looks very nice, and HD DVD movies looks great, and I eventually Im planning on buying a PS3, and it will look good too. My systems with only 480p look bad on this TV. They look better on a SDTV. Im ok with the graphics, but a 1080p TV its not the ideal for 480p devices (Wii, Gamecube, PS2).

Im ok with the Wii graphics, and this month Im planning on buying Metroid Prime 3, but I really want to enjoy this game. The Wii will look better on a native 480p TV (EDTV)?? Or it will look better, for example, on a smaller HDTV, like a 32" at 720"?

Or I need a 480p native?? Will be a diffrence on a 42" 480 native than in a 32" 480 native?

In the LG website, theres a 480 native EDTV, recent model, (December 2006), and they send me an email that this TV is new, and doesnt suffer from the old problem of burn in, and it cost only $1000, and is big a 42" with 10,000:1 contrast, fast response time. Its a good TV?

Oooo, that's a toughy. Personally, I try to avoid plasmas since, last time I checked, they still needed the recharge from time to time. But I honestly haven't looked at TVs in a while (my current LCD drives me nuts because it has horrid blacks and I'm a big fan of film noir movies). I'd say wait or look directly at TVs which feature native upscaling chips. More and more people are complaining about that very issue and the solutions ARE getting better. On any signal you upscale, you will lose clarity regardless. It's the nature of the upscaling beast (frankly, PS3 has the best upscaling I've seen in regards to DVD and even THAT isn't all that good).

Personally, I'm waiting for those CRT flat panels to ever see the light of day because I'm still of the opinion that, despite the resolution, CRTs give the best image. But as I said, this was a couple years ago as the last time I went shopping for TVs.

But yeah, search for TVs with native upscalers and then check the consumer or tech sites to see which are better. That LG does look like a nice TV but I'd try to track one at a store for a live demonstration, possibly even bring in the Wii with component cables and explain what you want to do. Most stores I've been to tend not to complain about this behavior if the possibility of a $1000 TV sale exists.

I'd agree, hardware-wise the PS3 is a better value. But I don't buy my consoles for their hardware.

i have been debating whether to get a ps3 or 360 this november. i have been leaning towards the ps3 but was going to go with 360 if i could get an elite for $400. I think I'll go for the ps3 now and get a 360 next spring.

The PS3 is a beautiful and sexy piece of hardware, but the 360 has the games so it gets all of my attention except movies(PS3 upscales movies way better)

I agree with everything you said, and I'm gonna get a Ps3 when it hits below 300 and a 360 when they get the 65nm chips in them.

Well, I play in a cover band. We play 70's and 80's rock (Skid Row, Posion, Maiden, Kiss, AC/DC), but my thing is music with arppegios (Clapton and that kind of music).

And we also play a lot of rock in spanish. There are very good, and I mean very good bands. Coda, Mago de Oz, Rata Blanca, Heroes del Silcencio, Angeles.

You should listen to Mago de Oz, is rock, but with a medieval style, with violin and flute, very interesting.

Thats sweet man. I will have to listen to those spanish bands. I love the sound of unique music. I have a 8-string mandolin too, I want to get a acoustic/electric Fender mandolin so I can play it with distortion. It might sound good backing the lead guitarist.

Well, as I've said before...if they run out of 60GB models any time soon, then the Sony execs will have a collective orgasm. Haven't they shipped 6-7 million of those big bastards? At a stroke the PS3 would be within shouting distance of the 360.

I'll wager my arm and throw in a leg, that the instant the 60gb models start running out, then the 80gb will drop in price.

I'm interested to see if the 360 sells like hotcakes with the drop. Because my theory is that the recent drop off in sales can be attributed to Mom and Dad hearing RRoD stories all the time. If they sell quickly, then MS can be assured that either no one paid attention, or they are content with the RRoD warranty.

Possibly. But at the same time, they will likely keep the drop afterwords. It has been almost 2 years with no drop. This was quite inevitable.

August is also a month with historically slow sales. Also, Sony just dropped the price on their 60Gb model. Plenty of reasons to drop the price, I guess.

Oh, yeah, they're definitely going to keep the price drop if it happens, but it would make sense that they are trying to get rid of all the defective units before Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, BioShock, and Halo 3 hit to start off the holidays.

Actually, the lack of shipping was probably due to the price cut.

If you're a retailer, you'd rather be out of something for a week and sell more at a lower price later than be forced to take a hit on things that were just priced under the wholesale amount you paid for them.
