It's Official: Halo 3 has four player, online co-op [Update - Details!]

Speaking at a Microsoft press conference in Amsterdam earlier today, Bungie has confirmed, once and for all, that Halo 3 will feature two to four player online co-operative play over Xbox Live. This news comes after months of rumors and slip-ups, but is extremely appreciated nonetheless.

Details are extremely sparse at the moment (chugging a Mountain Dew while snowboarding with a live bear extreme) but we can tell you this: we have Bungie's word. Bungie will be issuing an update themselves on this matter over at their website later today, so be patient and we'll have further information for you as soon as it rolls in.

Back to rational thoughts. Great announcement, and I have a feeling H3 will be the most complete FPS in the last 5 years. Hears hoping they pull off what I think they can. Even though everybody wants them to fail for some reason....

Bungie didn't say it wouldn't have it. They said they wanted it and were working hard towards it, but were experiencing difficulties and couldn't yet promise it available at launch.

The intertubes over-reacted. But most people, myself included, were still convinced the feature would be available at launch. It isn't that hard to pull off. The guy who brought up the uncertainty in the first place could have been looking to stir the pot a bit, as well.

Did anyone actually read the link? No where is it actually confirmed.

we spoke with Bungie, as stated in the post. They'll be 'confirming' it shortly.

I knew someone would bring this up.

Honestly, I just needed something to link and the Dutch sites are the ones reporting it because, duh, they were there.

It it the interbutts and so I asked a buddy of mine at Bungie. He confirmed the story and said that Bungie.net will have their own story up on it later if I wanted to wait.

Boy does this game rock..online coop, now can any other game claim that? And you actually have multiplayer as well for as little as USD50 each year. 360 rocks.

You sound sarcastic, but yes, R6V can claim it.

In any case, Halo3 will be a very good shooter. Definately worth being excited for. 4 player online co-op on Legendary mode will be absolutely awesome.

Hopefully, though, they don't send the whole team back if one dude dies. It would be so hard to find 4 solid team members and you'd end up playing escort matches against the computer where you are all trying to protect one dude.

This made my day since I've got an Elite coming in the mail this week (for Halo 3). Anyone got any suggestions besides GoW that are must have?

I don'ts gots one but I hears Lost Planet, Viva Pinata, Pokemon, Dead Rising, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Mario, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, and Smash are on 360.

I liked Overlord, see if you can pick it up used, it would be a great value.

Shadowrun, Rainbow Six, Graw, Dead Rising, Geometry wars, Castlevania:SOTN, Worms, Bomberman, Fightnight, table tennis, Condemned, Oblivion, Kameo, Pac Man CE, Crackdown, Guitar Hero, Saints Row, Forza.

the good thing is you can get a lot of the retail games listed on the cheap.
