Scans from the latest issue of Famitsu have showed up on NeoGAF, revealing that the Nekketsu High School Dodgeball Club series -- known as Super Dodge Ball in North America -- will be headed to the Nintendo DS in Japan. The Famitsu article mentions that the game will support local download-play for up to eight players. It's still unknown whether online play will be featured, or whether developer Arc System Works is looking for a North American publisher.

Plllzzzz come to America.
This series is what convinced me to get a GBA after never owning an original gameboy. Already have a DS, but currently only own about 15 games between the GBA and DS collection (mostly RPGs like the FF remakes) - and tetris.
C'mon, daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

Is there more to this game than meets the eye? It seems like it should be a mini game or part of a compilation. Using the stylus to throw the ball, if done right, should really be cool though.

Using the stylus to throw the ball would suck.
I don't know if you remember the older games, but the game relied on you holding down the the throw button to charge and jump (right hand) while simultaneously using d-pad to have you line up your foe and dash. (left-hand)
Where am I going to get a third hand to use the stylus to throw from? If the stylus is just going to replace a button press, then screw it. Leave it the way it was.
Anyone notice the lack of actual dodgeball throwing in the magazine article's shots?

Man, I played the hell out of the original NES game. Even with its flicker-iffic 4-player mode.

Remember, if you can dodge an Xbox, you can dodge a ball.

Seriously, any of you who haven't played the NES version, go download it now and play it. I'd say "I'll wait", but you won't come back, you'll be too busy playing one of the best NES games ever released. This needs to be on DS WiFi, then ported to Wii, preferably with cross-platform multiplayer.
Excuse me while I go drool over that thought...

I will totally give the J version a run as soon as it is released. As far as I'm concerned, the text is pointless in the dodge ball series - the gameplay is where it's at. 4 on 4 local wi-fi??!?! HOLY SHIT!

Dodgeball was awesome, but it would seem kinda weak just bringing it to DS for full price ala Parappa on PSP.
Now if they had a collection of River City Ransom, Dodgeball, and that Soccer game they also made, THAT would be a different story. Especially if all were multiplayer.
