A video preview on Gamespot (embedded after the break!) shows the boxers doing elaborate dodges as well as some incredibly over-the-top special moves. It's hard to gauge how well the motion-sensing controls work without some hands-on time, but it has to be better than the flail-fest that is Wii Sports.
Wii version of Victorious Boxers coming to U.S.

Lost a bit in the mess of announcements and impressions that was this year's E3 was the news that XSEED is bringing the Wii version of anime-flavored boxing sim Victorious Boxers to the states at the end of September. The sequel to the PlayStation 2 classics, which is already out in Japan, offers three different control modes: one using the classic controller, one using the Remote and Nunchuk to simulate boxing gloves (a la Wii Sports: Boxing) and one that uses the remote pointer to control things.

Aw c'mon, once you get the hang of it, Wii Sports Boxing is a lot of fun. My arms are sore right now from playing it.

WHY IS THE EMBEDDED VIDEO SET TO AUTO-PLAY?
SOME OF US ARE LISTENING TO MUSIC, AND WE DON'T WANT THE VOICES IN THE INTERVIEW AUTOMATICALLY BLARING OUT OUR SPEAKERS!!!

Gah! Some of us are at work, and a little warning on the auto-play would be nice... Actually, never have it on auto-play, ever!

This game is based on an anime called Hajimme No Ippo (Fighting Spirit). I skipped through the video so if they mentioned it, I apologize for the useless post.

Boxing is perfect for Wii, and Wii Sports Boxing really sucked. I hope this game is good and more boxing games come down the pipe.

That video looks to be exactly, if not more of a flail-fest than Wii Boxing.
How many of those punches actually landed? All that guy was doing was spamming jab. That's the problem with the Wii for games like this? No two boxers throw the same uppercut. How are you going to get it to recognize everyone's?
On top of that, the game looks like a port of the PS2 version, meaning it probably plays exactly the same, sway back, counterpunch, win.

No, seriously. I'm trying to watch b/tv/, joystiq is one of my homepages so every time I open up firefox this starts playing. I had to adblock it.

Sorry guys! We moved the autoplay video after the break. How on earth could Gamespot not realize autoplay videos are evil? UGH!

Thank you.
Still, autoplay sucks. Gamespot shouldn't use videos like that.

Hajime no ippo...or Fighting Spirit for thsoe who liked the DVDs. This game is based off of a Manga turned Anime. The anime ended with Ippo earning the Japanese Featherweight Title, but the manga is still ongoing. I'm so getting this game.

Patience is the virtue of the day, with Wii Sports Boxing you are naturally inclined to flail around, but once you get it down, its in no way supposed to be a flailfest
My worry is if it will have as bad controls as Boxing, as about 10% of my attempted punches fail, then (for some reason) occassionally i'll lash out on a twitch

I recently interviewed Ken Berry from XSEED about this very game.

Being a diehard Hajime no Ippo fan, I'm really looking forward to this. I also think, that given that this is a home boxing simulator where you actually throw punches, that it will attract a broader audience.
