GTA IV's first episode still slated for fiscal '08

Now, here's where it gets technical. We know that originally the first episode was supposed to come out in March of '08, because the CFO of Take Two said so. The second episode would be released later in fiscal '08. Take Two's fiscal year ends in November, meaning that it looks like we'll get one episode in fiscal '08 and the next one beginning fiscal '09. If the time table stays the same, the first episode will come out five months after the game is released. But they can always wake up the episode when November ends.

Saysaysay....this just in...LA Noire is PS3 exclusive.
Exclusive....fffooooooooooooo!!!!!
I think the reason GTA4 is being delayed has more to do with that tiny little space DVD has. Otherwise, why would RockStar can the development of LA Noire?
This is in addition to the still unannounced PS3 exclusive from RockStar.
I bet RaockStar is growing very weary of trying to cram in GTA into a single DVD.
Not enough space....ooohhhhkkkaaayyyy...
Here is the link.

Then why are all the demo's they are showing on the 360 and nothing has been seen of the PS3 version?
If they can't fit that ugly game onto a DVD9 then I don't have much faith in Rockstar.
But I do have to say if the extra 360 content is going to drag into 09 then what a waste of $50 million.. Nobody is going to give a rats ass about GTA IV in 09, it will be done and played out by then.

I am trying to decide which "investment" was better for Microsoft....RockStar GTA4 Episodes or Rare?
Man, who is making these decisions anyhoo. Hey Microsoft, wanna hire me? I bet I can blow at least a half a billion dollars with my eyes closed.
RockStar takes $50 mill from Microsoft and then turns around and uses it to finance not 1 but 2 PS3 exclusives.
They have been showing the 360 build only so far because it is the lead platform for GTA4. They said the PS3 version was a week or 2 behind.
Space....never enough space.
Microsoft...never enough usless "investments" to waste money on.
Hey 360...how ya doin....oohhhkkkaaayyyyy!!!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but unlike GTA, LA Noire isn't even being developed by Rockstar, it's being made by Team Bondi. It's only being published by Rockstar. I love how people think that just because a game is coming from Rockstar it must be as good as GTA.
This is hardly the case. GTA is the only AAA title Rockstar's got. They have developed numerous other great games, like Smuggler's Run and Bully, but LA Noire isn't being made by them at all.
Nice try though.
FrankTheCrank @ Aug 2nd 2007 8:50PM
I thought they were talking XMAS 07 at E3?
How could they have not anticipated this delay just three weeks ago?
Someone is not communicating over at Rockstar*. Or is Rockstar already done with their part and the publisher is holding out?
sheppy @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:02PM
Everyone knows the PS3 sucks. So let;'s move on for a bit.
FrankTheCrank @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:06PM
Asked whether one console in particular was the root of the problem, Zelnick diplomatically responded that "I know there have been rumors in the marketplace about frame rate and some other issues. We don't think it's helpful or beneficial to go into exact details of what the technological issues are. We're pushing the envelope on both the platforms."
Is this another problem with the 360 and it's 2005 DVD technology? After the PGR4 folks did the damage control about 360 not having enough space on the DVD, maybe Take Two got spooked and doesn't want to piss off their 50 Million dollar partner?
Anonim @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:45PM
"framerate" once again....
RSX in PS3 is too weak. If they would half doggy X360 framerate PS3 version would be powerpoin slideshow.
Mr Khan @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:56PM
RSX is too weak, but the extra weight can be shouldered by the CELL
That's what some developer's don't seem to get. Much like how the PS1's CPU handled ALL calculations, and the PS1 video card only rendered pixel display (2D), its not so centralized with PS3, but therein lies the defecencies of the ports from 360 to PS3, too much CPU/GPU cooperation, not enough CPU dominance...
Digi Smalls @ Aug 3rd 2007 11:08AM
yeah Frank, DVD9 is causing framerate problems gotcha....
Patrick @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:09PM
i dunno whether i like expansion content being developed alongside the game, i think it should be in the 360 retail game
sheppy @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:26PM
I guess the real question on 360 is which will drop first? The extra content or the first patch?
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:30PM
Pirates wore eye patches for night vision.
sheppy @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:54PM
Ninja's never needed night vision. We.. erm, they could sense your fear.
LJKelley @ Aug 2nd 2007 9:36PM
I hope this don't delay the content but use the content to keep the game fresh. Most people will probably finish the game within a two months of buying...
Snukadaman @ Aug 2nd 2007 11:32PM
i applaud sony hiring gays too be their company spokesmen now...way too go hard gay....rumors about framerate??? which console has games running at 30 fps these days..hmmm?..maybe the delay is too try and speed things up...i highly doubt its dvd size...they can just as easily make another disk with content..blue dragon?
Digi Smalls @ Aug 3rd 2007 11:09AM

What if they broke up the 2 parts again, into 8's or 4's respectively, and simply streamed these elements to xboxers?
It would be like a soap opera, they could know that every month, or every week if you really wanna push the envelope, they can see a new 17-minute episode of GTA IV.
You have a midseason, where you release the 34-second movie.
Then you have finals, where you release the final shebang.
After that, you release the game.
