Not a bad song choice given that 'One' is the best metal song ever laid down IMO.

Although that photo is an interesting pick, since Cliff Burton did not play on that song.

What about Master of Puppets?

Although personally I would give the title tp "The Phantom of the Opera" by Iron Maiden, but I am sure thats just me.

Don't love rap, listen to it. Listen to a lot of different types of music...metal is in there with country, folk, and bluegrass.

Wow, so how much you want to bet Lars will start blaming GHIII and Rock Band for stagnant record sales?

There hasn't been a song announcement from Rock band in weeks, perhaps months. You guys go ahead and get hyped up for GH3. Rock band will start dropping their megatons during GH3's launch week.

Prepare to be in shock and awe.

One is better than enter sandman, i'll give you that. However, Rock Band wins in the end because they reached an agreement with Metallica to put ENTIRE ALBUMS as downloadable content. Yes One is nice, but i'd rather play the entire master of puppets album and their other legendary albums.

I can't imagine how difficult Master of Puppets (song) would be on the hard setting.

Youtube would be full of 4 year olds playing it without looking...

I was just going to get Rock Band, then get GHIII after the holidays, but "One" changes everything. I may have been late to the game, but I remember seeing this video premier on MTV and was totally blown away. I mean, before that the only "metal" I heard about was all "hair", who wouldn't be blown away. I'm really happy that both franchises are going to be top notch. This is going to be a great holiday at my house. I can't wait to see the fam rocking out and acting ridiculous.

HAHA!
You're all overlooking a simple fact. Rock Band has "Enter Sandman" which although a good song is the turning point for Metallica. One is a MUCH better song and one I look forward to playing far more.

This may sound trite, but I'm now going to buy this game.

However much Activision is paying Metallica in royalties for One, it's not enough, because this is going to generate some serious business for them.

Top left guy looks stoned. Top right guy looks inbred. Bottom right guy has the face and shoulders of a teenage girl. Bottom left guy looks fairly normal, but then fucks it up by posing like a twat.

This constant "me-too"-ing of Activision just makes them look desperate.

Rock Band and GHIII aren't even released yet and Activision is already acting like they're playing catch-up to Harmonix / MTV.

Really?
Guitar Hero 3 gets 1 Metallica song?
OH NOES! WHAT WILL I DO?
I know!
I'll still get Rock Band instead and be able to play METALLICA ALBUMS. You know...MORE than ONE SONG.

And what are the 3 most popular Metallica albums that will most likely end up in Rock Band?

...And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, and Metallica ('the Black album').

Seriously. Anyone mulling buying GH3 over RB is out of their damned mind.

Except, y'no, anyone who doesn't want to pay like $200 more for something that's almost exactly the same thing... Besides, how often are you gonna have three other people over at your house to play this game? And you know everyone is gonna fight over what instrument they want to play, since they already know how to play the guitar/bass controller...

I think it's great that we'll get to play "One" on GH3. I just hope it's the master track, though. I have a feeling that the cover wouldn't be anywhere near as good. Now, if they get Megadeth's "Holy Wars" on there too then this is an instant buy.

/Hell, I'd probably buy it anyway.

Late post, but anyway. It's quite extreme that Metallica let their songs through on a video game. They declined to both GH1 and GH2, so in perspective I think it's a good thing that they accepted the benefits. And Lars better know about this someway :P

I think the main difference between GH3 and Rock Band is the fact that GH3 is the first game by somebody else than Red Octane, but Neversoft. Thus, GH3 feels a bit cheaper in the overall graphics (see the demo), but it looks like Neversoft did not fail in bringing the gameplay a bit forward. Bottom line is, Rock Band will include a higher quality being made by the original creators.
