Come now Sheppy, let's be civil in our discussions and not resort to name calling and judging one's intelligence on the basis on one harmless opinion. I have seen great looking Xbox games like Ninja Gaiden and to a lesser degree, Halo 2, that compare graphically with some PS3 games such as Heavenly sword and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. I meant no offense for what I said, but I hope you can understand where I was coming from.

hmm I'm having trouble understanding you .. ? You are saying that Halo 3 looks like a PS2 game right ? Yeah that's what I thought.

Are you mental? WTF is wrong with you?

This kind of BS doesn't deserve a civil response.

It is an opinion, I'll give you that. But man is it an absurd one.

As stated before. I suggest you boot back up those games and see how off that statement is. I'm not trying to be mean but there is an exceptional difference. Even if you compare NG to Sigma, the difference is noticable in an instant. I could almost agree with Drake's Fortune if not for the environments that are so excessively lush, there is no way in hell Xbox could have done it. Not to mention the animation code with all the tweening alone would kill that console. And Heavenly Sword? The game looks leaps and bounds beyond GOW2, which looked better than NG. Is Heavenly Sword going to beat Gears? Nope, but no one really expected it to. But it's definately got the xbox graphics beat.

Frankly, I'm shocked. Of all the games Figboy mentioned, Warhawk, the one you praised, was the closest to being able to be done on Xbox.

glad its dated. now hopefully it wont get delayed. ill be picking up my PS3 next paycheck and this would probably be the first PS3 game I bought (ill probably play God of War II when i first get it. kinda skipped over that game with work and college consuming all my time.)

o and don't get me wrong, i love joystiq.com, but how do they seem to be able to tie Xbox 360 into almost every post? and even if they don't tie it in, you can guarantee someone will bring the thing up in the discussion lol. the Halo series is a juggernaut without a doubt and will sell copies on top copies, and move consoles, but i get tired of hearing about the game in EVERY post. just my 2 cents lol.

Welcome to the club brutha. There is an umbrella to the left there. Grab it, there is going to be a lot of crap flying around for the next few months. After that, it will be all clear.

i think game mention frequency and perceived "biased" sentiment is related to the install base multiplied by attach rate. There are just so many more 360es and games being played on it. PS3 suffers from low install rate, Wii from low attach rate.

Plus, stiq is hard core

After playing the demo at a buddy's place, I'm going to finally bite the bullet and get a PS3 when this game drops. So it might not be generating mad buzz... but it's sold at least one PS3.

Amusingly enough, that same friend is the most hardcore GTA fan I know, and because of that he's going to bite the bullet and get a 360 finally so he can have the full GTA IV experience, and play on live with his friends.

Needless to say we shocked the hell out of one another with those admissions.

Forgive me for saying so, BioShock seems like it will be a great game, immersive world, captivating story, but i don't think its going to go on the realm of "mass-market penetration" at least not the kind of penetration where it would seriously affect the sales of other titles

But i could be wrong, certainly

Your pic is there...that is if your pic is a ghost.

And I agree with you, I think Bioshock might be a GOTY contender but it doesn't seem like it's getting pushed that much. Not gonna flop or anything like that but it won't get the recognition or sales it deserves.

Wow, Big Ed... I never thought that your comparison would be correct; however, I have to agree that in your picture comparison Ninja Gaiden looks just as good, if not better than Heavenly Sword. What I like about Ninja Gaiden is that the graphics are much cleaner and more consistent.

Now, before someone begins quoting spec numbers or something rather about the power of the consoles, you must remember what's going on here: Ninja Gaiden came out when the Xbox's capabilities had been near fully unlocked. I consider that game to be well-polished and utilizing the Xbox to the extent of its capabilities.

Heavenly Sword, on the other hand looks like they are throwing a lot of different graphical effects at the game; however, they have not mastered them yet. Don't get me wrong, the game doesn't look terrible, in fact, it looks great. Still though, there are inconsistencies of texture quality (especially of the main character to, say... the ground) that tend to stick out and make the game look awkward.

It is also worth noting that most all of the game play could have been done last console generation with the exception of some of the physics.

This does look like an interesting game, though not entirely original, yet I can't justify paying over $600 to get it.

Also, does anyone find the A.I. to be rather dull? I've seen videos of so many of the enemies standing around like they are waiting for you to attack them since they often do absolutely nothing.

If you want an example of a game that Heavenly Sword should look to as an example of what it should be, then look no further than Assassin's Creed.

Nice. Let me know when you find a screenshot that matches this one.

It should be noted that anyone that compares screenshots, should compare actual game play as opposed to comparing cut-scenes that do not heavily tax the CPU/GPU like game play would (due to factors such as A.I. and physics).

You can do amazing things with a decent game engine for cut-scenes; however, throw it altogether with game play and that’s a whole other story.

I've destroyed and loved NG:B and the played the HS demo a couple of times.

Those pictures are misleading. In motion, HS looks far better than NG:B. While NG:B had exceptional graphics for an Xbox game the jump up on the 360/PS3 is relatively huge(even at this relatively early stage of the console cycle).

Believe what you want but unless you've seen both games running in front of you DON'T believe your eyes. They seem to need a check up ;)

Big Ed:

I have to agree with others here, while I was a bit amazed at your screenshot comparison, actual gameplay is the key here. If you don't have a PS3 to download the demo, just wait for the reviews to see if this game justifies a shiny new $500 console.

PS: BNinjaC, there are a few apologies posted for you on those threads I got irritated with you on ;-) No hard feelings.

@ Christian

I totally agree. Aside from a few exceptions (like Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid 4), I'd say that most games look great, but are STILL not at the level that they will be in a few years.

Well said, well said.
