No, developers need to deliver games. Their investors want $$$$ not long development times for exploration. This is why the 360 is held in high regards. It's easy to develope for so you can get your code done and the game shipped. Smaller dev teams/companies don't have the man power to dedicate for someone to explore the cell while others are working on their money makers. It's business. I think as time goes on we will see less of this as dev's get familiar with the cell. But right now, it's not paying off and unfortunately people who don't even own a PS3 are "suffering".

Off topic: You people need to get off this Joystiq is biased and are fanboys crap! This is a gaming news site and this is a legit gaming story that appeared on the net. This is Patchers analysis and the title clearly states that. The fanboy stuff starts in the comments so blame yourselves.

Yeah, lets blame the developers because sony made the ps3 difficult to program for...
That makes perfect sense.

Anyone else notice the similarities between the PS3 now, and the Sega Saturn back in '95?

The problem (as i've now said many times) isn't that one is inferior to the other, they can perform on the level with each other (with the obvious exception of disc capacity on the one side and read speeds on the other), but they don't perform the same way, trying to treat them (code-wise) as the same animal with a different coat is what's causing all the disparities, and the disparities wind up on the PS3 because they have more experience with the 360 SDK, and build with it first

I agree with you. All these negative replies are exactly the same things I read when the PS2 launched. Some people embrace change while others vehemently resist and sabotage.
If the "it's good enough for now" argument was commonplace, we'd still be living in caves.

I honestly think that the ps3 is the reason GTAIV isn't going to be coming out this October.

To those who ask, "well if the 360 version was completely done why wouldn't Rockstar release it still?" I say perhaps Rockstar doesn't want to anger sony fanboys anymore than they are right now.

I mean seriously...I'm sure I'm not the only one whos noticed just how angry sony fanboys seem to be lately. Look its not the 360's fault that your console isn't doing so hot now. Its not Peter Moore's fault. Its not EA's fault. Its not the Wii's fault.

If you want to be mad at someone be mad at sony. They're the ones who built this difficult machine from the ground up. They're the one who set the price. They're the ones who are playing Musical Chairs with different versions of the ps3.

sony is the one who created "This is living". They're the one whos created the crying baby fiasco and the numerous other retarded commercials that have aired. They're the ones who are tied to a dead goat incident.

And to be clear I'm not saying that its the ps3's fault because of the above mentioned. Its the ps3's fault because in essence its a very hard machine to create games for. Thats my personal belief. No flaming. Just an opinion.

On a positive note I'm looking forward to Halo 3 and Eternal Sonata! Not to mention Brawl for my Wii!

The way I look at it... the 360's DVD format limited the scope/size of the game and it appears the PS3 is at least partially responsible for the delay. Which is worse? Take your pick.

PS3 is to blame! ;-)

Xbox 360 has so many GREAT games this fall, I really don't care but it hits PS3 harder.

I would like to rant against the PS3 saying Blam that piece of crap why I cant get GTAIV sooner?!!!.
But then again GTA is so over-rated.

Well Thinking about if the game was hitting the Shelves this October that means the game was already complete but if it was complete why there wasn’t a playable demo in the E3?,If there was I guess I skip it because I don’t recall any gameplay footage taken.

While I don’t like to blame consoles there are a lot of guesses going on.

A)Xbox fanboys: Is the Ps3 fault, The system is not developer friendly and the Rockstar agreement with Sony force both versions to be released at the same time that for GTAIV cant be released on the X360 until the PS3 version is Done.

B)Sony Fanboys: This is another dumbass analyst blaming Sony for something that could be MS fault for not supporting HD-DVD, Rockstar cant release GTAIV in a single DVD9 and the annalist and fanboys as well are using Sony as an Scapegoat for MS fault.

C) Me: The release date could be an approximate of what Rockstar thought the project would be finished. MS took that as an exact date. Rockstar like the Law of Murphy would say any project takes the double of time or the aprox. Also for a release date the game should be already finished but if it was finished why there wasn’t a demo then?.

But these options shouldn’t be taken seriously until Rockstar official word.

Unfortunately the mission of that site is to hate Microsoft. It actually proclaims it in the "about" section.

N'Gai Croal might be right (in the update). I think they're having problems with both systems. 360's problem is fitting everything on a dual-layered DVD and PS3's problem is probably because of it's tough programming requirements

As I said before, I think MS benefits from this, because it has a killer app this holiday season and Sony does not.

So the reason for the delay is not as important as the result - MS up, Sony down. And MS's 50mln may have had something to do with Rockstar having tech difficulties - perhaps they put the best people on the episode development and left the PS3 to dildoes and noobs. Result, tech difficulties.

Thats all am sain

I could be anything, so why guess? Yes it could be the PS3 holding things up because the thing is bastard to program for. But then it could be the 360 only having a DVD drive and no assured HDD.

Or it might... just MIGHT be a core problem with the engine that effects both versions, but who would the fanboys blame then? The Wii? Only Rockstar and take two know the problem. An "analyst" doesn't know, and it's sure as hell YOU do not! So have a nice warm mug of STFU everybody!

I doubt any sort contract with sony would make rockstar forgo the ton of money they would make if they release the xbox360 version this holiday season. Must be something affecting both versions.

The PS3 is probably not 100% to blame. The 360 certainly has its limitations, but we have not heard about them as much as the PS3's. I think there is a mixture of problems and Rockstar underestimated the amount of work a AAA high def game will take. Remember they have been living off of the GTA 3 engine for years now. Hopefully they get their act together so my TTWO stock will come back.
