On the one hand, it's absolutely guaranteed to LOOK good. Underworld Evolution was decent, but the special effects were awesome IMO

A remake of "Escape from New York" though?! Please no. Who else could play Snake if not Kurt Russell?
Escape sequel is slated for 2009 BTW according to IMDB, so adjust with that as you will for a release for Gears of War (2010?)

I was pleasantly surprised with his work on Die Hard 4, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe we can see Bruce Willis as Marcus! ;)

I hope they cast Vin Diesel as Marcus Feenix. I think the guys at GayGamer.com would have a field day with that combination.

Hopefully the film is tongue in cheek, Starship Troopers style. I'll vomit in my popcorn if it's as cheesy and trite as the 'Mad World' commercial was.

This movie will only be cheesy if they DO cast Vin Diesel as Marcus Fenix. That guy is a bad actor who looks nothing like him.

I rather liked Underworld and the last Die Hard film. Intelligent? Not especially, but action flicks aren't supposed to be. Here's hoping the Gears movie turns out better than most game to film adaptations...

only problem this has is the same for a mgs movie, whos gonna be the actor that can do the voice?

John DiMaggio is the spirit of marcus... without that voice... will it be believeable enough to the fans that go see the movie? or will fans criticize it for that reason alone?

(same with david hayter/snake in mgs)

Vin Diesel is a terrible actor, Marcus Feenix is a terrible character. Match made in heaven.

lol wow

btw Starship Troopers is a great film, mainly because it is the exact opposite of the book, which was actually a brainwashing pro-military propaganda machine, unlike the movie parody.

@ Wing,
so the movie is "great" because it's a "brainwashing", anti-military "propaganda machine", where as the book, which was semi-poorly written is "just the opposite"....
well i enjoyed both the book & the film equally. but who is the victim of propaganda & brainwashing here? i'd have to say the idiot that makes bold uneducated statements about something that he half assedly knows about. if you knew anything about Robert Heinlein and if you had actually read the book Starship Troopers you'd know different instead of just shouting out the typical ignorant response.
BTW, another movie site has rumored that Gerard Butler of 300 fame is in the running to play Snake Plisken

This movie is going to be awfuly cheesy, like Nacho cheese cheesy.

I would feel better if the director was Robert Rodriguez or the Guy that direct 300 but Underworld?,damn.

Really what was the need for Real life actors?,The new TMNT worked great being all in 3D.I bet they hire B class Actors that are going to make everything feel so cheesy, well at least I hope the Locust arent people disguised but 3D models,*sigh I hope.

Lester Speight had better get on this train.
