It's not that I haven't been enjoying my Wii, but I have been looking forward to online SSBB multiplayer since launch...

I will be more than disappointed if it doesn't include wifi multiplayer.....

I believe the full quote includes it's really hard to get a 4 player online multiplayer on top of online.

If Mario Kart DS and Starfox Command can work online with the DS's bandwidth limitations (limited to 1 mbps IIRC), then I'm sure Smash Bros. Brawl can work online with the Wii's lack of limitations.

I don't think it's fair to compare Brawl to Metroid Prime. MP2 had terrible multiplayer, so it makes sense to not include an online multiplayer mode for it. Smash Bros., on the other hand, has always been about multiplayer and has always had great multiplayer, so it would make sense to take care of those technical difficulties and bring Brawl online. The Smash Bros. team seems to listen to the fans, so I'm thinking we'll get online in Brawl.

Of course online multiplayer makes sense for brawl. And after the last 2 MP games had multiplayer, it was a given for MP3. I'm just not going to get my hopes up, is all.

They talk about how had it is to get Street Fighter II on XBLA to work on live multiplayer, or how VF5 had issues, and then you talk about the real hardcore tournament types who can spot openings 1 frame wide, and internet lag becomes an issue. For us common folk, its no big deal, but for those folks, it is. It all depends on if they're willing to have casual online play, where a few frames of lag is negligable, or if they're looking at competition level of online play.

No, but Prime 2 and Prime Hunters did. And those were the last 2 prime games made.

The coolest thing about smash multiplayer is what you say to your friends when they explode everyone in the stage.. nintendo has no official headset/mic or anything that would help to transfer this online, so i don't really care if it has online or not.
Specialy now that looks like that the gametime was expanted from infinity (i still play meele with my friends) to X times infinity (with X being the number of playable characters in this mode)

"I would rather they quietly announce sonic, but thats just me."

There is no such thing as "quietly announce sonic" ... if they announce sonic the internet will suffer a breakdown 300x bigger than the one in the hour that the gta trailer was released.

Flame wars in the posts regarding that news will burn the internets =P

Change Brawl to Melee.

And while you're at it, take out the the.

That leaves us with:
Peach was shit in Melee.

The truth.

They need to have more customization options for multiplayer battle.
Like you can choose which players are giant and which are normal size and be able to select individual lives for each character.

Super Smash Bros. is a series of games that are always greater than the sum of their parts because of awesome multiplayer, like the Halo games. The single player has always been kind of weak.

By addressing this concern, I'm officially hyped and have to buy a Wii.

Just to throw my two cents in there.

I've always thought that Metaknight was a badass villain, I don't know why, but I loved fighting him with Sword Kirby back in the day. And for this whole single player stuff, it looks like it could turn out to be pretty awesome, hope it turns out great.

And...yeah, after the video when it shows the related ones, the Retro Smash Bros. Brawl video was friggin awesome.

"It’s storyline isn’t overwrought—it’s hastened along by a bunch of quick movies."

Well, glad to see Nintendo still hasn't mastered the difference between "its" and "it's". Hire some English speakers, alrighty?

How about I make fun of you on your Japanese grammar errors?

Heh. It's probably just a typo. It's easy to make, especially when you're planning on writing "it's" 3 words later.

The site's not made by Japanese, cap'n. Japanese doesn't figure into it at all, in any way, ever. But have fun pretending!

Well this -is- Masahiro Sakurai's, the head director, blog and all and he -is- Japanese and he -does- have to translate it into 7(?) different languages. I think a small grammatical error in translation won't ruin the announcement when all is said and done.

Well Mr. Grammar Nazi they have to translate it from Japanese which has no resemblance to English, Español, French or Italiano (it most be hard as hell )into English and other 6 languages with just one typo is impressing.

I don’t know what kind of Translator is Sakurai using but I want it.

I am cautiously optimistic about this. It is SO EASY to make something like this a huge angst-fest. Just witness Kingdom "Heart! Darkness! Heart! Darkness! Heart! Darkness!" Hearts. But if anyone can do a good story for this, it's Sakurai, who kept the Kirby games light and upbeat while simultaneously not afraid to make 'em dark when need be. (Witness the final boss fights in both Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star.)

Anyway, I always liked Smash Bros. single-player mode fine.

I love how Sakurai told us to rest easy because it will all fit on one disc. It's as though he were responding to the PGR4 story.

Well he has less to worry about, technically Wii games can be bigger than 360 games because you're looking at less complex AI programs, smaller shaders, smaller textures, and all, but put on the same exact format

That (aside from cost) is the other advantage of the weaker hardware (still vastly outnumbered by the disadvantages)

But i like what i see, i've been hoping for a story driven Smash Bros from the beginning, hell when i was 12 i wrote a few (bad) fanfictions on the subject...

Yeah, that was definitely painful. Once someone racked up over 90 damage with Peach using that thing when I stupidly ducked down with Yoshi.
