Well as long as GodisaMyth is around what are we gonna do about it? Besides it's the Roman Catholic Church that catches most of the flack around here unfortunately. I've notice that attacking Christianity as a whole though has become more popular, none the less.(Saddening isn't it?)

*Ahem* But this is not the issue at hand, so let drop this for a later date.

I've seen a few commenters question on why there is a 'Gaygamer.net' site and I've heard a couple of good responses, but I thought I'd expand a little bit. In particular, imagine if the roles were reversed and this was a gay-slanted gaming world. I know for some of you that's hard to even stomach, but this is a hypothetical situation. Just play along with me for a few minutes.

Imagine that almost every game has a gay slant. Mario isn't rescuing the Princess Peach, but Prince Piccolo. And it's not just Mario it's just about every game you've ever played. There's only three games that even LET you explore a straight relationship: The Sims, Bully and Fable. Most of the male protagonists run around in very revealing, tight fitting clothes, all the women seemed to be dress in Full Battle Plate and they don't even bother to round it around the chest. But wait, it gets worse...

Now compound that with a media and community that's gay-slanted. What's the latest review of DOA? Awesome! Especially after you unlock all the male Speedo outfits. They make the men bounce in all the right places.

Putting out a comment on a Website like Joystiq with a pro-straight message or even worse, identifying yourself as a straight man may be retaliated with personal attacks on yourself or your character.

And lastly, the word straight is now synonymous with lame, dumb or stupid. Whether you're on XBL or just reading Blog comments, you are always reminded of what people think of you and that many people hate you, are afraid of you, or both.

Just try once to put yourself in that situation and think about what you'd do about it. How long can you fight the good fight? How long do you think you can desensitize yourself to the situation? At some point, you'd want a website called Straightgamer.net if nothing than to be around others who think and act like you do.

Do special interest sites/communities/organizations single themselves out for attack? As a gay man I can honestly say yes. But you have to ask yourself a question: Did they truly single themselves out, or did society at large do that first?

Ok, we really need to leave religion out of the whole gay discussion. Here's a little context for you bible thumpers out there:

Back in the time in the bible where it says that homosexuality is bad was a time when sex was considered sacred, an expression of love between spouses, and a means of procreating. God's problem with homosexuals then was that they were only having sex for personal pleasure, which is selfish and not at all what God teaches.
Now today, Homosexuality is largely merely a sexual preference, which gender you enjoy being with more. Homosexuals today don't just fuck for fun (although sure, they do, but not *only* for personal pleasure anymore). They have sex for the same reasons straight people have sex, if they're in love. It's an expressions of that love, and therefore no longer immoral.

The point: Christian gay-haters can go die, because there's no place for you in our world any more.

It's a good thing that straight people are biologically incapable of anal sex. John's head might explode.

you dont and cant control the world (even if you bind together with many others). That like being a James Bond villain or something.

You are left with a choice to understand or to reject. The smart people in the world, those who survive, respect differences because they are the source of change and understanding them allows you to cope with change.

Those who reject differences are only really testing the merit of the alternative, and if it is a better one, they accept it (at least those who tend to survive).

You should think this way, because your children will too.

I'm not a gay man but I like reading gaygamer sometimes. I find it refreshing and fun.

I also like how non-straight-male topics can be discussed without it being a special occasion. How many pvc figures of doa girls have you seen on gaming blogs like joystiq? and how many mentions of Leon's sex appeal? yeah, that's what I thought. Try that here and you will mostly get these weird defensive reactions from people who really need you to know they don't care or people who try to laugh it off ("pyramid head is hot! ha ha! /not gay //not that there's anything wrong with that").

I seriuosly thought gamers/hackers were better than this. I'm extremly disapointed. We usually are those who lean away from 'squares' and the hardcore rightwing. I swear going way back in time, the human race never learns, we just repeat bigotry over and over for eterntiy.

From what i have read so far 'GayGamer.net offline following hate attack' seems to be a very good thing for joystiq's gay related topics...

don’t consider this post offensive but I bet all of u will, realistically its doubtful that whoever was involved in the so called attack will not be caught or charged with 'hate crimes'. Demographically if the attacker(s) were from...Russia, the nation would consider them heroes.

Controversial world we all live in huh? lol

Btw gays or atheists claiming that the Bible is old compared to modern times when they haven’t read it in detail themselves, is pathetic and laughable.

By the way Drunkard, I would suggest you try not generalizing gays and atheists.

One, most atheists have actually READ the bible and understand it. In fact, there are actually atheists with degrees in Religious Studies.

Two, as a gay Christian, how DARE you say that we don't read or understand the bible.

Thank you.

"You have a right to be gay, and I have a right to hate you. Don't be a hypocrite."

I wonder if you'd think like that if you had relatives who were gay.. or hurt by a terrorism attack..

Muslims believe they have the right to hate people based on their religion and ethics. Im DAMN sure if they came and firebombed your fucking house you'd be outraged.. yet your very own logic allows them to do it you pathetic retard.. and not only that, you wouldnt be able to get upset about it or you'd be a hippocrite! Fucking think before opening your mouth..

I have a right to believe in a free world.. Terrorists have the right to attack anyone who they dissagree with? Peolpe have the right to be gay... nobheads then have the right to practice hatred and making peoples lives a misery?

Your an idiot mate, without 2 cells in your brain to rub together and I swear down, I hope to hell something shit happens to you as karma for your opinions. Its shits like you holding back civilisation for the rest of us, people have to waste time fighting for rights and equality because of people like you when the human race could concentrate on curing disease and all sorts of junk. Instead we have to keep terrorists and extremists in check every fucking turn humanity makes.

I hope you rot and die off along with your opinions and leave the rest of us to get on with living instead of wasting time hating people for something that doesnt effect you!

You have the right to hate gays? Why? Are they taking your jobs? Are they systematically removing your rights? Do they group up and beat the shit out of 'straights' walking the streets alone? Are they taking your woman? No? Then shut the fuck up and go rot with the rest of your extremists buddies and stop holding back evolution!

Reading comprehension for the win, "mate". You suggesting we don't have the right to hate? Then go call the thought police. Last time I checked, we have the right to THINK anything we want.

Thinking hatred, and acting hatred, are two very different things.

DISCLAIMER: I don't believe hating anybody for any reason is a good thing. Hating is against my religion. However, I don't believe in policing peoples thoughts, which is why I'm also against the classification of "hate crime". A crime is a crime, don't bring emotion into it. Justice is supposed to be blind.

I don't get why people would get so upset over a site called GayGamer.net. They're video gamers; they'll never actually get to have sex with anyone of either gender.

Just kidding (I'm a married man myself). It's sad that there are still plenty of people who fear that which is different that much (though hilariously enough, I believe the proper term for that, linguistically, would be heterophobic). But I suppose the only thing to do is stand up for equality and try to keep educating folks. As long as you can dispel the myths and show the truth, justice will eventually come forth.

As a post-homeschooled kid, I take offense to your comment.

As a post-homeschooled kid, I can totally see where you're coming from as well. Many parents live a very low standard of living so they can take the time (at least 1 parent can't work a job) to educate and bring up their children they way they feel is right. The cost of homeschool cirriculums numbered in the thousands of dollars in the mid 80's and early 90's, so I'd imagine they'd be as expensive or more expensive by now. This means less toys at christmas, more hand-me-down clothes, and definitely no designer brand names, in anything.

Homeschool kids have quite a stigma surrounding them. The truth is, when the parents are fully committed to being a good parent and a good teacher, the child scores far better on all standardized tests and reads at much higher reading comprehension levels. When I joined public school for the first time in 8th grade, I was amazed at the fact nobody could read out loud worth a damn.

Homeschooled kids with committed parents get a better education than they would in a public school system. Period.

"Reading comprehension for the win, "mate""

Always one.. I appologise.. In haste I typed out a response and worded it incorrectly.

Yes you have the right to hate, your an asshole for it though and still holding back civilisation when we could be moving forward and your an even bigger asshole for acting on it.

" I don't believe hating anybody for any reason is a good thing." - Then why throw your two cents in my face "mate"? Im against assholes commenting with vile intent. I have gay relatives, this is something that strikes a chord with me and wether you think thoughts should be policed or not is irrelevant. I didnt say people dont have the right to hate.. I tried to make a point of how stupid it is to hate on one set of people and be offended by other sets of people hating.

We dont want people blowing shit up in the name of religion but its fine and dandy to attack gays?

Thats my point.. not thought police or some shit like that..

I don't think anyone said it was fine and dandy to attack gays. Or if they did, their comments got deleted before I could read them. Several people have said its not unexpected, and it isn't. People are assholes, they hate those they choose not to understand. But I'm not one of them. I threw my two cents in because your self admitted poorly worded argument made it seem like you were advocating something you weren't, the criminalizing and policing of motivations and intentions.

My question is simple: Why must there be a "gaygamers" website. Why not just "gamers"? I don't care if there are gay gamers or not...creating their own special community is a GREAT way to attract attention to the fact that they're gay, which in NO way is related to gaming.

I don't think it's acceptable to attack anyone's website, but I have to be honest...it's almost as if they were asking for it. Your sexual orientation shouldn't determine your entire LIFE.

Okay, I am reading some of your comments, and I am learning a lot about how some people think during this age of our Earth.

However, I am commenting because some people have a problem with gay pride parades!

First, however, there are issues concerning ethnicity and games. Being a gay, male gamer of color, I would like to see more games with minority characters in the lead storylines. To add to this, I would like to see more empowered female characters (and none of this, "Women are empowered! They become strong healers and magic users!).

Please, that's how women are usually portrayed in video games. They are never fighters with swords or anything. (But what about Tifa?) Sure, she could fight, but she had huge boobs to counter-act it.

Anyway, the Pride parade is needed. You see, there is this little known incident in history named Stonewall. I am going to tell you about Stonewall, because I find that the best way to get people to understand something is to educate them.

So, during the 60's, gay people hardly had any rights at all. We were seen as mentally ill, and had all sorts of "facts" told about us, like "gay people are here to recruit your children". Not only that, but gay people could not congregate with each other or have any clubs of their own. The government would regularly send any gay person to jail, and would send police in to underground gay clubs in order to arrest them for their "illegal and immoral" acts. Gay people were too afraid to even dance with each other, for fear of being put in jail. The police were often brutal towards gay people, hurting them physically and mentally. One night, in 1969, the police went into Stonewall and started to harass us. This time, however, we were not going to take it lying down anymore (joke!). We rioted, we fought back, and we marched down the streets, showing our unity and to show that we were not going to be abused anymore.

Thus, that is how the pride parades got started. Thank you, and good night.

Well sir, when you're playing a game and you hear "Man, that was gay", or "Stop being a fag", most of the time, how would you feel? I mean hello, just because there are gamers does not mean that they are always going to be accepted or feel accepted.

Just like female gamers. They are an extreme minority in the gaming community, and they often are the brunt of jokes. They are also the ones who hear the "b-word", which is a degrading word to females.

What I am trying to say, is that we need sites for gay gamers and female gamers in order to feel like we belong, and to show solidarity. Also, to share experiences that we have all had during our time gaming.

And why not? Why is there a community for gaming? Why do people call themselves "gamers"? That is a special interest group. Gamers have created their own special community. In fact, there are gamer sites that have come under attack by hackers, who call them "nerds" and say "get a social life".

lol Corin you claiming to be a 'gay Christian' just proves my point that (i sure DARE say) you don't underdressed the bible.

You are in a different religious that has been customised for gays to simply suit themselves just because they reject some of the ways of Christianity.

Talk to a priest or vicar (who’s not gay) and you will find out what you really dread to hear. It would be your choice to accept that or not.

My dear Drunkard...

I have been going to church ever since I was little, and trust me, I do not have to talk a priest to know what they view on homosexuality. Actually, however, there are some religious leaders who are questioning if homosexuality is really a sin.

Seriously, how am I in a different religion? I mean, I believe in God, I pray, occasionally go to church (Oh, I admit that much at least). Hell, I will even admit that I am not a GOOD Christian. I curse, drink, and go to parties.

The only difference is, I have a different viewpoint concerning many issues in Christianity, homosexuality being one of them. That is a very important thing that I am very happy about: people have different viewpoints concerning religion and their religious preferences.

Me: I believe that Christianity is about tolerance, love, and acceptance. However, I do have qualms with the Bible, and I feel that it does not make me any less of a Christian.

Seriously, people customize their religion all the time, gay or straight. I personally think that it is okay to reject certain aspects of religion. However, it is just my personal opinion.

This is very selfish of you for a Christian isn't it Corin?

To be fully committed you have to agree with everything written in the bible even things you would hate to agree on, otherwise you remain lukewarm and that aint close enough. And Christians are always supposed to try their best to progress closer to God throughout their lives.

The bible is really just Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth that helps guide you to follow the right way. Understanding the bible is a challenge in itself, it helps not to just read and interpret it on your own. That’s just one of the reasons why Churches come in to play, as questions always come up and is in need to be answered.

"You have a right to be gay, and I have a right to hate you. Don't be a hypocrite."

Is perfect. I'm not gay and I don't hate gays. But that is the perfect attitude, you shouldn't be forced into liking or accepting something. It's not the wisest thing to do (hate) but I'm not going to criticise anyone who does so, it's their choice.

It's like the people who get pissed at Bernard Manning. Some people called him a racist - but he joked about ALL religions and races, including his own. Which puts him above people who champion for 1 single religion IMO. Equality all round, regardless.
