Limited Edition can still be had from Gamestop http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=200317

(Put "SAVER" as the coupon code for free shipping, it will still cost you about $75 though)

looks ok, just doesn't have a huge appeal to me though. I'd rather save up my money for Assassin's Creed, Hells Highway, COD4, GTA4, Mass Effect, and of course Halo 3. Too many good games, they should have released Bioshock earlier in the summer!

GTA4 is in 2008 and the rest of those are at least a month away from Bioshock's release date. Get it!

I'm excited. OXM reviews don't exactly mean anything to me, but I don't really need to hear from other places to know this is worth getting. I already have it pre-ordered.

I had high hopes for this game and now it sounds like it won't disappoint. Funds are limited and I was just about to breakdown and get the "must have" Gears of War (it's been almost 2 years, drop the price...damn)this weekend. Now, I'll just hold of on spending my $60 for two more weeks.

My summer/fall library:
Madden
BioShock
Tiger Woods
Halo 3
Mass Effect
Scene it?

HM: Rock Band (only if my friends get into it too)

I'm sure it will be a good game, maybe even a great game, but there are too many great games coming out close to each other and I'm not about to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars in a few months on these games especially when I won't have time for them all. Halo 3 will consume all of my time (plus college) once it comes out, so between now and then it'd be nice to pick up a game that can hold me off, maybe this is it but I am just not as excited as others about this game.

If irrational games keeps releasing a definitive game every ten years, like they did with system shock and now with bioshock, I think they should stay this way

the game looks great, and i wanna pick it up... but 100? the game was flawless?

Games really should never manage to score a perfect review unless they are literally flawless, So many games have scored in very high 9/90s, but they always have something holding it back even though they are great games. While some systems have circumvented a system to say that a 10/100 is a "MUST BUY OMFG ROXORS" and an 11 is perfect, but the simple fact is unless a game does something great, and you find NOTHING wrong with it, only then it should get a perfect 10.

I remember when zelda:OOT got a 10 on IGN and there was much controversy, not to mention the bad control issues. While i'm a fan of zelda, i would be hard pressed to give that game a perfect score by any means.

Have reviewers become so lazy/biased they need to grade on a curve now?

I agree, there is no multiplayer so right there in my opinion it is nowhere near perfect.

I'm definatly getting the Collectors Editon of this game on launch day. Which is 1) very rare for me to get a 360 game on launch, 2) get a collectors edition of a game.

It's also been the highlight of the year for me. I've been anticipating this game for aaaaages.

Others have already said it, but the deluge of games coming out this holiday season might just swallow BioShock whole. The game looks pretty good, noone is desputing that, but what features does it have that make it any different from the other 10 FPS's that have come out recently, or that are going to come out this holiday season? It will be a shame if this game doesn't do pretty well in stores, but I can't imagine it will next to Halo 3, Mario Galaxies, Super Smash Bro's, Assassins creed and all the other games that are coming out. Honestly, I've already got too much to buy this holiday season. BioShock is one game I'll be renting to spare my wallet.

@15 - There is no such thing as a "perfect" or "flawless" game, particularly given that we're working solely with opinions here.

I think it's just meant to imply that it does what it does so well that it's amongst the best there is to offer. I'm not sure how else it can really be taken.

Also, if people don't think there's much to separate this from the other random FPSes coming out this year, I don't think they've been watching it enough.

Hopefully good reviews will help it out enough that it will do well. It certainly has enough buzz online, but they really need to advertise it elsewhere.

Im not suprised, most people who are doubters and nay sayers are too young to have experienced system shock or system shock 2. So they really dont know what they are talking about.

The rest of us knew this game was going to be out fucking standing the second it was announced.

If you don't understand what BioShock does different than the other FPSs out there, then you need to do some research. It is hardly like anything else you have ever seen from an FPS.

#15. Zelda:OOT had bad control?? Don't know what game you played. The control was always something mentioned in reviews as to one of the reasons it WAS perfect. If any game in history deserves a 100 it's that one. Look, I'm sure in every game that someone reviews as perfect you can find one bad texture or SOMETHING to nit pick to bring it down. But to me, nit picking doesn't count.

#17 I'm pretty tired of the notion that if it's a first person shooter in HAS to have multiplayer. Tagged on, half assed multiplayer is NOT what I want. It's obvious the developer concentrated on the campaign. Can a developer not make a game these days that THEY want to make? Besides if they did add ultiplayer and it sucked then people would just bitch about the multiplayer sucks and then it WOULD get a lower score. What happened to amazing single player campaigns LIKE Zelda:OOT. The only FPS that need multiplayer are war games...

It shares alot of similarities with System Shock 1/2. In other words, it IS like other FPS's I've seen. If the game had online multiplayer, I'd think about buying it. But without the multiplayer? Forget it. I'll rent it, finish it, and have saved 60 dollars. It's my belief that most people will do the same, atleast until the holiday season is over and their bank accounts are replenished. But why bother, some people are already sold on this being the greatest game since pong, and no amount of reasoning will change that. It's your money

Bio Shock will be a delight to play.
On the wagering side of things, I'll bet IGN gives Bio Shock better Ratings than they give Halo 3.

I'll take that bet, though IGN is kind of hit or miss with reviews and scoring games and lately have been giving out very hard reviews. Halo 3 will be a much better game than Bioshock in my and many others' opinions, we'll just have to wait and see if IGN thinks the same way.

Whether IGN gives Bioshock a better score than Halo 3 or not as nothing to do with the overall quality of either game, mostly because IGN sucks at reviewing.

I've always considered Bioshock to be the first game in the upcoming fall/winter games deluge for the 360. I think it should make for a pretty great start. It seems to be aiming for a really high bar in terms of storytelling, art design and ground-breaking gameplay innovations and that has gotten me very curious to play it.

There's a level of immersion you derive from a single player game that is hard to replicate in a multiplayer environment, especially if the atmosphere you're going for isn't all-out warfare.
I'm glad there are developers around still brave enough to risk making a FPS that isn't sci-fi/ww2 inspired. Bioshock looks deeply immersive and will probably be the first game I'll play for the plot.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Bioshock pretty sci-fi? Killing Big Daddies in an underwater city while little girls go around drinking blood of dead corpses, not to mention all the chemical upgrades you can use and such...

i think he means it's not "zomg-future-space-war-boom" sci-fi. And I agree it's a breath of fresh air. That and you don't have all these people kissing your ass during the campaign like some other fps I won't mention right now.

I think the reason people (myself included) are getting "all amped up" is because this is just fuel to the fire of the belief people have held for a long time that this game will be incredible. Ive followed this game for a long time now and every new piece of information has got me more and more excited. Ok OXM is gonna be particularly generous but lets not forget that theyve seen dead rising, gears of war, ghost recon and many other top 360 games come through their offices and what they are now saying is 'here is something even better', if you cant get "amped" by that then you may need a Big Daddy to come along and wake you up!!!!

Don’t quote me on this but I bet that the reason why there’s not online multiplayer is because the maps etc cannot fit onto the DVD9 disk. This is sure to fan the flames of BluRay fanboys rooting for their PS3s.

There would be a couple of options that I could think of off the top of my head:

1) They could easily fix this by splitting up the game into two disks. While it is a pain to get up and put in a new disk just to play online, it’s essentially playing a different game anyways. It would be as easy as copy and paste code and make sure that it works with the maps created as well as it passes XBOX Live certification.

2) It could be offered as a free download provided that there’s a code with each Bioshock game to get access to the content much like Halo 3’s Multiplayer Beta.

I don’t get the need for BluRay personally other than for Movies. The game systems haven’t even been maxed out yet, heck their still making money making games for the PS2 and that system is old.

Anywho, that’s enough for my Wednesday rant. I still wish that ShadowRun has a single player campaign but I guess I still got a lot of other games that have those as well.

I would get Bioshock just to play the story. It’s like buying a book, you essentially pay for the author’s storytelling. As far as ShadowRun, I wish I had more time and people to play with, other than that, it’s like a fancy bar where I paid a $50 cover charge to see magic.
