See, if Nintendo is taking time updating useless stuff like this, why can't they add Rumble support for Gamecube controllers on Zelda OoT or StarFox 64?!

there could be a reason maybe they're covering up ads that nintendo is no longer affiliated with

Correct. They probably couldn't keep the Kawasaki billboards there.. Did they remove the subtitle from the title screen? "Wave Race 64: Kawasaki Jet Ski"

@ Nushio

If my theory is correct, and VC titles from 1 platform are all emulated the same way, the edits are just made to the code of the N64 title itself. My belief is that they didn't feel the need to add in rumble/controller pak support to the N64 emulator, and that it simply isn't supported. If they emulated titles individually, i feel they would've added such elements to pursue authenticity.

Mr Khan:
While I too think (or hope), that Nintendo is smart enough to contain an emulator inside the Wii memory, rather than inside each Rom (See Consty? Not all rom talk is piracy!).

I am still annoyed at the lack of rumble on SF64 and Zelda. One would hope that they would update their emulators and fix this issue, but seeing how they're still getting cash, its useless.

One of the bigger issues, IMHO, is the lack of customizeable button-remapping for games. Contra III, for SNES, has HORRIBLE Gamecube pad support. Same with Super Mario World. Its so unplayable, that I actually had to buy one of them stupid white Classic Controllers.

Its 2 player games, such as Contra, that annoy me the most, because I am NOT going to purchase another of them classic controllers, however one of the players is left off accidently setting up bombs and never jumping when intended.

Pirates wore eye patches for night vision. I wonder how long till that catches as a meme. I wonder if I make a video or YTMND of it it'll spread.
I can't see the gallery or the picture.

It could be beta-testing (why they are advertising Wii on the Wii). If those ads could be updated via wifi, Nintendo could start swapping out its stuff for specific 1st party ads, sell to Pepsi and Coke, or even 3rd party Wii devs. They are keeping track of how long you play particular games right? That would be useful info for an sophisticated advertisement system.

Anyway, I'm all for ad-supported games, so long as I get a break on the cost: http://www.videogamelagoon.com/?ref=65048

@ Nushio, i doubt they think Controller pak/rumble pak support is important enough to merit a re-building of their N64 emulator, as that would have to entail a worldwide system update for something that only involves a handful of titles

There would be the drawback of those emulations, but i'll agree that individualized ROM emulators could definitely help some of their SNES and N64 control schemes, either that or an emulator update to include custom mapping

Yes they're tracking your game logs... To a point. They can only track like ten channels. And that's not individual channels. I mean I can go into the Mii channel, jump out, ad nauseam until it only reads other for the rest of the time. It's highly unlikely to happen but I've already done it before.

those ads don't really bother me. but it they were pop-ups or a scrolling ticker, that would be annoying.

@Nushio: It takes one minute (literately) to modify the resource of an existing ROM, while it would take hours to decompile the existing game and change it's rumble feature.

You complainers really need to put yourself in the programmers' shoes.

Yes the reason why they covered it is because Nintendo no longer is affiliated with Kawasaki. Now if they could find a way to somehow get Goldeneye. Now that would be a feat! I would download that so fast!

Nushio, you're dead on re: remapping. To wit, there's no reason we shouldn't have the option to remap SNES/N64 controls to just a wiimote, or wiimote/chuck with motions if we want them. I'd be happy if we just had glovepie style scripting options, but there's no reason they couldn't develop a sophisticated GUI to let us define our own motions.

The same module, stored locally, could be accessed by retail games as well to let gamers pull profiles into specific games or share their profiles online.

They told us we weren't getting multimedia because the Wii was for gaming only--and then spent their time delivering Everybody Votes and Everybody Votes on your Mii. Seems like custom mappings would have more to do with gaming.

@Sklyer: They aren't giving an A effort because you fanboys won't complain no matter what they do. When we buy products (for the 2nd or 3rd time), we earn the right to complain when they don't measure up. When Nintendo starts giving away VC titles, we'll lose the right to complain. Till then, muzzle it.

Further, if no one complains, how will they know a feature is in demand?

Well, this is evidence that Ninty are adding stuff to the original games. As time goes by, maybe the changes will get bigger and better

My guess is that one day fan demand will force Nintendo and Rare (and thus Microsoft) to reach a consensus about re-releasing Goldeneye, it'll probably happen on VC AND XBLA, as long as both recieve 50% of the proceeds coming off of each service

on second thought, no, that'll never happen
