Halo-themed Xbox 360 coming in Sept. for $399, wireless headset for $59.99

Master Chief's coveted special edition 20GB Xbox 360, initially seen at Microsoft's E3 2007 press conference, is coming this September for $399.99, which is now $50 more than the Premium console. With that extra Ulysses S. Grant, you get an HDMI port, a headset, a Spartan green-and-gold finish (for console, controller and headset) and a Play and Charge Kit, according to the press release. The non-proprietary HDMI cable is sold separately.

Additionally, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg has told us that the Halo wireless headset will be priced at $59.99 and will include some quality improvements over its predecessor. It will, presumably, also be deployed in September.

Its themed, and as much as I hate Halo 3, the thing looks pretty cool. I love olive drab, and that orange just defines it.

One of the 360's sole flaws, those accessory prices (the only other accessory that badly priced is the $20 piece of plastic and analogue stick that is the nunchuk)

remember - xbox 360 users aren't concerned about the look of a console or how it fits in with an existing home theater setup. A power brick the size of a tank, a cheap iMac/iPod look and the worst cooling unit in the history of mankind make the 360 a home theater enthusiast tremble.

This version of the 360 proves my point that they don't care what it looks like - as long as it sells to the fanboys willing to pay anything. Maybe the boys over in Iraq will like it because it blends in with all their gear. I'm surprised MS hasn't put a "support our troops" logos all over the console in a bid to sell more of them. ;)

By the way- The 360 has no games worth playing that aren't also coming to PS3 or PC. Even Halo 3 will inevitably see a PC port. Sorry to break the news to the 12 million people that actually paid for this thing.

Fugly for sure... but $50 premium!? HELLO PEOPLE! This is how much the premium system has cost for almost 2 years now. So, for the same price you get HMDI.

Personally, I think this is the ugliest 360 available but I don't see the price as being a problem for those that like it -- it's the same price 360s have always been (and will be until August 8th).
