Wii60 aficionado OBsIV had a dream, a dream of consoles living and working together under one flag, sharing games and controls without any problems or hitches. Today, friends (actually, yesterday), that dream is a reality. After months of hard work, OBsIV was able to cruise around Lockout in Halo 2, battle rifle in tow ... and it was all powered by his trusty Wii remote and nunchuk combo. For the record, we approve of his taste in both weapons and control schemes. You can see it all for yourself in the video we've helpfully embedded after the break, but if you want to do this yourself, you'll need to head over and read the very detailed explanation. We hope you also happen to have a few chunks of spare time lying around, as welI as a lot of random equipment. This was a project, but after watching the video, we're sure you'll agree that it was well worth it.
[Thanks, Connor!]

If developers would use similar, maybe slightly-tweeked schemes, I think the Wii would be the console for fps's. It mimics the pc control with the "a" button being pressed down representing the mouse being down, and releasing allows you to keep turning.

Pretty damn cool. I think ultimately the best fps for Wii would use a locked screen, free cursor default, that switches to a locked cursor free look screen when you hit A, to switch between aiming/turning.

That is great. I really hope Nintendo and other developers of future Wii games take note of how "PC Style" FPS controls CAN work.
I must admitt that I am a bit disappointed with the lackluster efforts in control on current Wii shooters..(that's why I don't own a FPS on Wii I guess)......Just where has the sense of adventure gone with the developers??
I mean if we can all watch the full development of Wii60 unfold before our eyes on the web then I want games developers to TAKE NOTICE!! And in some respects work with us to create new/better ways to play games and not, seemingly against us. We do not want any more crappy controller configs on games like this!!! We want better!!
End rant.
Again, great effort by people involved in Wii360 work.

Does anyone else's audio blare on the left and none on the right? Doom was on SNES so I wonder how long till we get it on VC.

doubtful, iD and Nintendo don't get along well. You'd be better off getting Doom for your PC and running a GlovePIE script for it. But i marvel at the chain-linked clusterfuck he has running from the Wiimote to the 360 to get it to work, that alone is an admirable effort, let alone the tight, workable controls

I still think CoD3 for the Wii is an excellent example of FPS on the Wii... it's a very admirable attempt... it's my favorite version of CoD3 across all the ports (sad about no online though), and even my female friends who can't play normal FPSes do really well with the Wii version of CoD3. That alone should be a feat in and of itself.

Wouldn't dual-wielding be impossible witht he set-up he has? Maybe he could map the C button to grenade and the Z button to fire a weapon held in the left hand or something.

no, because you can't throw grenades while dual wielding. unless i misunderstood your comment
awesome, by the way. it's a shame so many adapters and drivers are needed, or I'd do it myself.
oh well
