The inclusion of eyepatches alone would be enough to make me buy this game.

Most content in WoW won't be seen by the casual players anyway. There's probably some leet raid instance in northrend that will only be experienced by 1% of the WoW population.

"With the time needed to develop and program all of this new content, it doesn't feel like Wrath of the Lich King will have the same impact that The Burning Crusade did, especially since that expansion included two new races."

You mean people quitting the game in droves, and all the drama of raiding guilds imploding? One would hope that the next expansion didn't have the same impact.

Why is it that the blogger who didn't even level his WOW character to at least level 60 (let alone try the expansion pack) and did't play enough Starcrat to beat the computer is the one who went to Blizzcon? I know theirs probably a lot of reasons (how close you live to the convention, how busy you are, etc) but couldn't someone who knows more about Blizzards products go to Blizzcon?

Copied from Starcraft II:

Kevin Kelly

Actually, I'm straight. But just to add some salt to the wound.

I think my newbies view provides more coverage than the "less coverage" you cite. How would no coverage be better than "less coverage."

Kevin Kelly

Okay, let's set the record straight here. I live in Los Angeles, about 35 miles from where BlizzCon was. I drove myself to BlizzCon, did not stay in a hotel, paid my own gas and food. Joystiq didn't send me to this event. I chose to cover it. If you want to read a hardcore StarCraft 1 player's opinion about the sequel, then I suggest you search the net for one. In fact, I'll do it for you, here you go:

http://www.starcraftpro.com/news/game-news/starcraftpro.com-hands%11on!-starcraft-ii-at-blizzcon/

There you go, I hope that sates you.

In the meantime, had you chosen to read my entire review, you'd know that I really enjoyed playing the game, to the tune of three hours worth of figuring things out. I'm sure there are people out there who didn't obsess over StarCraft that will hopefully read my review and want to play it as well.

We did send writers who know all about WoW -- they blog at WoWInsider.com and they covered the heck out of BlizzCon and the new WotLK expansion. Check out -- http://www.wowinsider.com/tag/blizzcon

Seeing how more people play the game now, then they did pre-bc, I don't see why blizzard would not want another Burning Crusade.

I know the numbers show higher subscribers but going from my admittedly anecdoctal evidence, there seriously have been tons of defectors.

I've seen entire guilds disappear and areas in BC are remarkably barren of players. There are rarely people in the major cities announcing RAIDs...

It was bad enough that I went months without being able to do any raids because not enough high lvl players were on and guilds not active enough.

Finally I quit last month. Are all the players new subscribers or something?

Wait, you had an ex-girlfriend, meaning that you've dated?? That automatically puts you firmly outside of the demographic of hardcore WoW gamers and thereby invalidates your entire review.

Dismissed!
