Yea I only have have one HDMI port on my TV which only does up to 1080i. That HDMI port is already being used by my upconverting DVD player (which is how it's gonna stay).

My GF and I both have the exact same 57" hdtv which are capable of 1080p over HDMI connection. She has the elite, I have the premium... I notice a difference. I notice some clarity difference. Although it's very small, it's something.

I kind of hope they don't do this, just because I already felt a little screwed on the elite (I got my console shortly before they announced the release).

I don't know why every one is so bone hard over HDMI. vga or dvi does just as well. HDMI is just another form of copy protection forced on us by the movie industry.

If this is true, all I can say is that if I ever get the RROD my replacment box better still be able to do component out since my HD set only has component inputs. If there ends up being no component option and HDMI only in the future I think MS is making a mistake in estimating how many non HDMI folks are out there. Sony is taking a lot of heat now since their PS3 can not upscale 720p games to 1080i which means that a lot of folks with 1080i only HD sets (like me) get to play the game in glorious 480p :-(

The $3000 DVDO iScan VP50 is about the only thing that would turn my no-720p no-1080p HDTV into something worth using with all this new-fangled equipment. I give my set maybe 10 more years of life and THEN maybe something other than component will be important, long after any Xbox 360 will still matter, and probably 3 or 4 replacements of HDMI with something 'better'.

Actually, stocking up on thing that HAVE component output will probably be smart, as it gets eliminated as a possible source of 'pirated' material...

I would love to have hdmi to see if it makes a difference, but to be honest, I use component and everything looks amazing especially the Matrix and 300 on HD DVD.

$280 for a core system with HDMI?

Hmm... I'd think about it. It'd let me leave my premium at my sister's house, and maybe I'd have some use finally for my 512mb memory card.

MS is probably assuming that all the early adoptors' systems have imploded by now anyway.

wow are those pics real? If so, ill go out right now looking for a premium july manufactured date. All I want is a cheap hdmi 360, I care nothing for that hard drive.

And you wont get a job here. 360fanboy is an index site, they hardly EVER report anything. All they do is post other stories that other sites have.

Update: the guy who posted the shots has taken them down, for some reason (hmm), but a crafty Web site captured them before they went missing:

And I being even craftier, capture the original pics before he covered up the serial numebrs.

The last 6 digits in his serial are 772707. If that means anything

Engadget says these new XBOX 360's come with the 65nm chips. Can that be verified somehow? I've been waiting for an HDMI enabled 360 with 65nm chips and was going to buy an Elite, but if I can get a Premium or Core with HDMI and 65nm chips then that would be great!
