Update: Shack is reporting that Microsoft has confirmed the inclusion of HDMI in Xbox 360 consoles (sorry, no Core model for now) stating, "Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand." Still no word on whether these systems use the new 65nm processors (is the power supply different?) Any retail employees able to survey the outside of one of the new Xbox 360 boxes and share tips on spotting them with the class?
Following renewed grumblings of a quiet initiative to install HDMI ports into all Xbox 360 SKUs, comes a convincing set of images that appears to show an HDMI-equipped Premium unit, manufactured on July 4th. The images allegedly originate from a Shacknews community member who purchased the console today at a Target in Atlanta, Georgia for the newly discounted price. Hey dude, mind crackin' it open and checking for the 65nm chipset?

Can't wait for pictures of the first HDMI/65nm RRoD'd 360... ie. no guarantees new cpu will do anything about RRoD problems.

Just as sure as there are people who love to post RROD comments, there are also people who can't wait to make up fake RROD stories about their new console with 65nm chips that have Red Ringed.

idk if im lucky or what but i have an xbox 360 with a manufacture date of 11-04-05 that has not had one problem whatsoever, so although I'm sure the fail rate is high, it doesnt affect everybody

1. system still has a 3 year warranty, which means if I buy a 360 tommorrow I don't have to worry about the RRoD until August of 2010.
2. I'm sure that MS top priority in this hardware revision was FIXING the RRoD issues. I really don't think they want to keep dishing out 360's for the next 6 years.
3. I'm glad they are doing this. It makes my job of selling these things alot easier.

You can check but they will be hard to find now. They will become more and more common as the weeks move on.

Are they sure its a premium, for some reason I though the Elite was only going to be black for a limited time and then they were going to make them white like the other SKUs.

Didn't M$ say at one time that HDMI isn't necessary? These guys love to downplay something but when it is succeeding,(cough PS3), they want to be all for it! What will they do next? Add motion to the controllers? I know what they'll do, they try to make a BLU-RAY Drive next.. Too bad it won't happen!

... or it could be cheaper to add HDMI now than it was back in 2005/2006 when they were losing more money on each console. I think its an added bonus to the minority who can actually use it, not an indication that it's necessary for the majority who don't even have large HDTVs or 1080p. But that's just me.

Its funny cough Sony does it all the time...LOL. Lets go through the progression...Online play, A Hard Drive, the Playstation controller its self...Remember that Batarang POS they showed at E3 when they first showed th PS3... all companies make errors in judgment give MS a break

You're right.
They did say it was unnecessary.
Why? Because back in 2005-2006 HDMI wasn't a big deal. There was no use incorporating it into their consoles because there weren't enough customers who had HDMI to make it worth the costs (a lot more back then than now).
Now that they realize that HDMI is becoming more popular, and the price of adding it into the system has dropped, they are incorporating it into their newer consoles.
There were reasons for saying it was unnecessary, kiddo.

You can play games in 1080p using COMPONENT cable (in the box with pro and elite).
You CAN'T with PS3 = 1080i max.
You can play games in 1080p using VGA cable.
You CAN'T with PS3 = NO VGA cable at all.
Now you can play games in 1080p using HDMI cable.
EEven on non HDCP monitor/TV.
You CAN'T with PS3 - No HDCP = BLACK SCREEN
More choices.
Happy?

Anonim,
Well you are making some sense into that the ps3 DOSEN'T come with the component cable itself, but for 20$ you can buy one, and it does support High Definition, (every definition to be exact 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p).
And even an added bonus, if you already own the PS2 component cable, it works just fine for 1080p high definition for the PS3.
Oh and for a VGA cable, just get a component/VGA cable, their 40$ or, normally if something only takes a VGA cable and not component(like a projector) it comes with cable in the box (normally, if not like I said 40$)
so really, more choices with the PS3, you can go either way, buy the cable, or not!
P.S: I don't know where you got the idea that component on the PS3 dosen't support 1080p resolution,
but yet the Xbox 360 does! :S (sounds like a fanboy to me :P)

Well, had MS launched their console a year later it may have included HDMI. I would also hardly call HDMI "necessary". It is a convenience, and nice for upscaling, but it isn't that big of a deal.
Shouldn't you trolls have already gotten this out of your systems anyways?

serious, I highly doubt though that they will ship you an HDMI unit if the one you sent in a "broken" non-hdmi.
because if they do..
your gonna have alot of people sticking their hdmiless 360z in their freezer so they can order a "coffin" for it to come back with hdmi.

Shoving it in a freezer might actually help the console avoid breaking.
Though I'm not going to go advocate it.

Heh, they obscured the serial number but not the product id. Think someone should tell him the product id *contains* the serial number?
Mine just died last night (one red light, E74 error code). I guess it would be too much to hope for, to get one of these in return. (If it had the cooler 65nm chips in it that is; hard to get too excited over HDMI when nothing in my house has an HDMI input.)

why is it so hard for some to believe things that are right in front of them? "HDMI Premium Xbox 360 potentially caught on film" Why can't a pic as clear as this one just confirm it already?

It makes sense as a future-proofing endeavor on their part, although it really has little significance in the market now. And, from what i remember, not very costly on their part, didn't the 360 motherboard have an HDMI port on the inside, they just didn't have the actual connection on the outside?
