Mercury Meltdown Revolution only $20
Yes, yes, you can complain and call Mercury Meltdown Revolution another casual title for the Wii, but at $20 the price is most certainly right. Best known as a PSP title, Mercury Meltdown has always begged to be played with tilt controls, it finally fulfills its "Christmas destiny" Sept. 24.Interestingly enough, despite what we heard back in January, Gamecube controls are possible for Mercury Meltdown Revolution according to the Amazon product page. We can't imagine why someone would use it, but it's nice to have options. Players can also use the classic controller, but we'll definitely be enjoying this puzzle/arcade title that feels like it was created for the Wiimote.

This game actually has good reveiws for the Wii version. Looks pretty sweet.
Captain Jody Anthony XVIII @ Aug 8th 2007 12:59PM
even if it sucks, at that price I'll be picking it up.
also OT but gamestop/ebgames has ssx blur, tiger woods 07 wii, and godfather wii for $30 each now
vidGuy @ Aug 8th 2007 1:03PM
Tiger Woods is a lot of fun with a few small bugs, but word is that 08 hasn't seen many improvements (what would you expect in the five months between games?), so 07 at $30 is a good pick up.
I might be getting SSX that was a lot of fun. Thanks for the info!
waLLy @ Aug 8th 2007 1:53PM
SSX Blur, while not perfect, is one of the best games for the Wii if you're looking for a challenging romp at seeing just what can be done with the motion control. (IMO, *the first* title on the system that came close to "killer app" status.)
Adv2k1 @ Aug 8th 2007 1:01PM
This is a smart move, this could easily become a impulse buy where before people wouldn't think about it. With Metroid, Mario and Smash this year this is a clever way for 3rd parites to get ground by being cheap.
I might pick it up blindly
Kabobrocks @ Aug 8th 2007 1:03PM
I'll probably pick this up too at that price...
samfish @ Aug 8th 2007 1:13PM
Hell, for $20 bucks, I'll pick it up, too.
Although there was that Marble Mania game that, if I recall, was initially $20 and then went up to $40 shortly after it was released. I hope that isn't the case here.
I'll probably pick up SSX, too. $30 dollars is impulse buy for me and since I'll be returning Mario Strikers (I hate it), I may as well piss it away on TWO games instead.
I m gewd with teh moneyz.
mr nimblewick @ Aug 8th 2007 1:20PM
Peach?
No Peach! What happened to your pretty pretty clothes?!?!
shivr @ Aug 8th 2007 1:24PM
you didin't like strikers? I played it with a couple friends and found it pretty enjoyable... though it did seem to be a multiplayer-is-the-only decent-mode kinda game...
samfish @ Aug 8th 2007 1:32PM
Bowser stole them and then Count Bleck took pictures.
PICTURES!!!
And he posted them on 4Chan!!!
Captain Jody Anthony XVIII @ Aug 8th 2007 1:34PM
and then black mario came in.
ohhh yeahhh.
samfish @ Aug 8th 2007 1:36PM
It just wasn't for me, I guess. I knew I should've rented it. I can see it being fun when you're drunk with friends, but the online mode kinda stunk. Everyone I played against online, all they did was run up to the ball and do a power strike (or whatever).
That became really, REALLY old after about 20 minutes.
I never played a single match where we were actually, like, volleying the ball around or using special movies.
vidGuy @ Aug 8th 2007 1:39PM
I love the local multiplayer of Strikers but I too am disappointed by the online. I always get lag even though they are connecting at 3 or 4 of 4 stars. Makes it very difficult to play.
Funny, everyone I played against used the deke-whore Hammer Bros to smash hammers down on all my players then kick it to the captain to do a 6 shot multistrike. I won by playing Bowser who has a great deke, but I felt bad doing it.
Zertoss @ Aug 8th 2007 1:40PM
BLEH HEH HEH HEH HEH HEH! BLECK!
I've been having a blast with Strikers both alone and with friends. Haven't taken it online yet. I figured I would at least try and beat the Crystal Cup before going online. My cousins play it like it's Smash Bros., slamming the other team every chance they get, so we get pounded by an endless stream of power-ups. I wish I had never told them how to hit other players.
Anyway, back on topic, Mercury Meltdown looks interesting, and @ $20, I'll definitely give it a shot.
Kye @ Aug 8th 2007 2:08PM
Even though I basically got Mario strikers for a fiver (vouchers from texaco- www.weou.co.uk free points for real people) I didn't think I would hang unto it.
I found the whole online thing weird:
No speech
Game specific friends code
No text
No control over who you play against.
Just too weird. Its human contact without the human.
Plus almost everyone online was kicking my ass.
I returned it and haven't missed it since.
Mr Khan @ Aug 8th 2007 3:22PM
I wholeheartedly enjoy Strikers' Online gameplay, but thats because i don't feel that chat is necessary (or desirable) unless playing co-op or playing an MMO
The only point in Strikers would be trash talk, which (IMO) is just stupid, but again, thats just me. My connection usually has trouble the first 5 minutes or so (lots of lag, disconnects, 1 star connections), then it cleans up and runs crystal clear,
Online is MUCH more fulfilling than the single-player of that game, trying to make a continuous cup system where if you want to change teams, you have to start from the first cup again? Fuck that.
megaStryke @ Aug 8th 2007 1:22PM
Half the current Wii library should be hitting that price point. $50 for Wing Island is wrong.
Kye @ Aug 8th 2007 2:02PM
I can swear I remember wing island being part of wii play at last years E3.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Aug 8th 2007 1:23PM
Finally. A mini-game on the Wii that's actually priced like a mini-game. I fully support this game at $20. It was crap on the PSP (twice) but a $20 version of Monkey Ball is going to do favors for everyone else...mainly because if this has a decent impact on the market, the other mini-game makers and porters won't be able to continue trying to get $50 out of you.
Buy a copy for a friend!
Almack64 @ Aug 8th 2007 1:37PM
Yeah Cheaper games FTW. I might actually start buying new games again. I've always been one to wait until the price is right.
If you constantly live in the past, there will always be cheap games that are "new to you".
Burritoclock @ Aug 8th 2007 1:39PM
Finally, I agree this price point will go along way toward fixing the Wii's crazy price/crap game problem.
Anyone else just a little sad that a $20 psp port is the first thing to get excitement about the Wii since like Zelda...
BPM @ Aug 8th 2007 2:16PM
You weren't excited by Metal Slug Anthology? For shame...
required @ Aug 8th 2007 1:48PM
I prefer Archer MacLean's Mercury on the PSP to Mercury Meltdown on the PSP. Meltdown is fun though. It's just the original looks nicer. See: http://media.psp.ign.com/media/683/683271/imgs_1.html
WiNG @ Aug 8th 2007 1:49PM
This game got good reviews, the main issue people had with it is that it is TOO HARD, which is FINE BY ME!
$20 is a steal, I will buy it on eBay for like $12. Sounds nice!
ishtar @ Aug 8th 2007 3:16PM
In Sweden it's priced like every other wii game, the equivalent of about 65 U.S. dollars >(
MisterBean @ Aug 8th 2007 3:34PM
This better be a start of a new trend, there are good Wii games out there, but they are stupidy priced at the full price.
Word of the street. @ Aug 8th 2007 3:44PM
Better on PSP.
*runs.
Is a great game on any platform PSP or Wii,Like exit more people should play this.
jose @ Aug 8th 2007 3:47PM
great game,great price
Rob @ Aug 8th 2007 6:08PM
@ Ishtar.

conebone69 @ Aug 8th 2007 6:45PM

TWiNKiE @ Aug 8th 2007 6:55PM
i have no idea what it is... but ill buy it for $20!
accidental @ Aug 9th 2007 1:48AM
"Yes, yes, you can complain and call Mercury Meltdown Revolution another casual title for the Wii"
This game isn't really that casual. It gets pretty hard, a 'casual' gamer would get ripped to shreds.
I forgive you since you haven't played it – it's been out here for months though and not at a reduced price-point so, good score for you guys!
