New Cooking Mama out of the oven early next year
If you love slaving over a hot stove, mindlessly chopping things and stirring, stirring, stirring, but hate having any sort of payoff for your labor, have we got great news for you! Cooking Mama is back! Well, it will be back, according to UK publisher 505 Games, at some point early next year.
Still only available on Wii and DS, expect the new iteration to have twice as many mini-games and a new multiplayer mode. We don't know that Majesco will once again be bringing the game to America, but the original did a lot of good for the company, so we wouldn't be surprised. Now if you don't mind, we need to stop by Caketown for some supplies.

will this one be any good? i.e. the main difficulty doesn't come from idiotic controls?

You're obviously not a cook. For shame!

i still want to pick up the wii one, but no way in hell am i paying $50 for it. should of been $30.
i'll pick it up used in a few years for like ten bucks. I liked the DS game but its not worth $50.

Ebay is your friend.

actually ebay is my enemy. i was quite the ebay addict so i closed my account. spending hundreds of dollars a month on stuff you dont need just because you see it available is a bad thing.

Try:

Just video games to occupy your money.

I too am a recovering ebay addict. My replica Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom stones, my framed replica back to the future aged letter from Marty to doc can attest to that.
I also closed my account to break the addiction, and still everyday the replica grail diary calls to me, I want that thing so bad I can taste it dammit.

I would buy stuff on eBay, but the things I want to buy [used antique cars needing restoration] usually need a shipping charge and the bids usually go way high.
I'll stick to the barns here in Texas.

Is anyone else creeped out by the "Mom" that appears on everything to do with this game? That expression just screams lunacy to me.
unfriendly_cat @ Aug 9th 2007 2:45PM
If that screams lunacy to you, wait until she gets angry.

That was half the fun: being scared witless that Mama is gonna set you on fire for spilling the ramen!
It was an okayish game. I thought the DS one was a lot of fun at first, but got old after a while. Some of the minis were fun (cracking eggs) and others were just unbelievably lame (setting the timer on the microwave...).

I hope this one proves to be "besser dan" that previous mama

if fps games train future soldiers, this game better train my future wife. get back in the kitcheN! i want... pancakes.
mr nimblewick @ Aug 9th 2007 1:21PM
I might consider if:
I don't have to cook in stages and can go from one action to the next without having to sit through a grading screen.
I never have to hear "excellent, better than mama" ever again.
I can customize dishes, Iron Chef style.
