Pirates wore eye patches for night vision. Mythbusters proved this during their Pirates special. I want night vision goggles or eye patches in games.

The games colour pallet consists of 80% BLACK and 20% other colours. Lame.

You are actually wrong with this cut and paste troll bait. The whole world is pretty colorful, it is just that the lights are off. During flashes of light you see there are lots of paintings, posters, red carpet, etc. that liven up the joint.

looks pretty dope to me.

I fear the hype machine might be getting a bit too large though.. I wonder if the game will actually deliver all these interesting nuances that the developers are talking about.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Fable and Oblivion sort of fell short on their hollow promises of sweet, sugary awesomeness.

I also get sort of apprehensive when I hear the "emergent gameplay" buzzword, because they keep mentioning the same three examples of what players can do to improvise, so I'm wondering if they're just trying to keep it a surprise (I hope), and if so, will I be -creative- enough to come up with anything?

It's why I want my lady-friend around when I play this. She's always suggesting I do things in games that I cannot do because of the game's limits, but would be very helpful in whatever situation I am in at the time.

Color me crazy (!) but, like, I kinda have hopes for becoming friends with the Big Daddies, and being able to count on them in a firefight if they happen to be there.

I guess I just have a tendency to only attack people who attack me first.

Unless they jump into my line-of-fire. Dear Goodness, I hope the Little Sisters are intelligent enough to not run in front of The Guy Who's Shooting His Gun. Because I don't want to fight the Stinky Divers With Drills For Hands because of some accident.

Pretty sure there is a plasmid that makes a Big Daddy attack an enemy you've targeted, I think it’s called irritant or something.
Can't wait for Bioshock it's a definite buy for me.

Rad-aclysm!

I hope there's a plasmid that makes them want to drink tea with me and enjoy tasty crumpets, like gentlemen.

I want to be able to befriend them without the use of plasmids; like if you save a Big Daddy from getting killed, it will kinda get attached to you. That's the kind of immersiveness I want.

Not that I won't be picking up this thing on day one...

Cubeguy:

That's what I had in mind. I want to be able to walk into Kashmir, for example, and see the Big Daddy whose Little Sister I saved from a Splicer a few hours ago, and have her be all "Look, Mr. Bubbles, it's our friend!" or something like that. That would be so rewarding to me, as a player, for doing "the right thing."

I also really hope it's not, like, ridiculously hard to find ADAM or EVE without killing the Little Sisters, cause I don't want to do any of that, really.

But we shall see.

Oh no, Bioshock has no multiplayer! Bleh, it's not worth buying now! Only multiplayer games are hardcore games!

I really hope gamers reward this developer's attempt to create something a bit different by BUYING THE GAME. We need developers like this to keep the industry going. I have a horrible feeling it'll be overlooked as the Halo hype goes into overdrive (I've got nothing against Halo though!).
Although I don't think it applies to readers of Joystiq, consumers generally get what consumers want and consumers generally want more of the same but with better graphics.

Are you really being such a bitch?

Its a 360 exclusive.

PC is up against MAC...as in those are computers.

The 360 is going against the Wii and the ps3...as in CONSOLES.

Hence this game is an exclusive when it comes to the console wars.

Damn why do people on this site have to be so nitpicky?

I just watched the first trailer for Bioshock (Yes, I know, where have I been) and let me just say that it's "insane". Wow, I can actually feel my heart beating.
Looks like it will be pretty good.

I don't understand how the game is only rated Mature (17+) but to watch a video of it you have to be 18+? You can play this game, but you can't watch any videos of this game.

or you can... y'know... LIE *gasp! shock! awe!*

regardless, this looks like such an awesome game and I really want that "befriending" factor you guys are talking about to make it into the game. Just imagine you walk into a room where two splicers are beating up another one. You roast the two to pieces and suddenly Mr. Poor Defenseless Splicer is grateful and wants to help you. That would be a fucking awesome moment.
