Halo 3 to include flamethrower and firebomb

come to think of it it's really difficult to compare or differentiate Halo, UT, or HL games when all you do is go around and shoot.

at least with Halo 3's forge mode you can screw around with the environment map ala Little Big Planet.

and you can't tell me that taking a gravity hammer to an incoming warthog sounds mediocre. it's the little things that matter in the long run.

oh and Halo 2 was rushed, but they were also trying to put 360 quality graphics on a system that couldn't handle them. with Halo 3 they recognized their mistakes and can do so much more with the 360.

@50: If you like Halo and it's vehicle/weapons you would love UT3- either that or you're just a plain Halo fanboy. Choose for yourself.

The multiplayer was pretty damn fun, but thats not the main selling point of the game.

@51 (I know, same person) the graphics in Halo 2 weren't that great. They paled in comparison to games like Doom 3 and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (great game, just under rated. Definitely worth picking up if you can find it). As a matter of fact, Halo 3's graphics aren't that great, especially when you consider GoW and UT3, and how (to the best of my knowledge) GoW ran mainly on only one CPU core, and not all 3.

i think i'm gonna stop arguing since gameplay and graphics are a matter of opinion.

Gears uses a very dark palette while Halo has a brighter color scheme. the graphics are the same in my opinion. this goes for many games that use normal mapping. it's what you do with it that matters. and IMO Halo 3 does a beautiful job.

i played Butcher Bay. very cool game, but agian not comparable. you run, point and shoot in all these games.

but you really haven't created a convincing argument why Halo 3 is substandard compared to those games.

i see them as similar titles just different flavors.

i like games with character, Halo, Half-Life Metal Gear and Riddick. i don't really see enough great character with GoW, UT3 or Killzone.

Why is Halo 3 substandard compared to those games? Well, take a look at games like Butcher Bay and Condemned. They give you things like "finishing" moves and satisfying ways of killing people- unlike Halo where you always just shoot them. I mean how awesome would it be to run up behind someone in MP on Halo 3 and snap their neck? How about some hand to hand combat? Maybe if you run out of ammo and can't get any more, you have the option to throw down your guns and kick their ass up and down the place with your hands and feet... Fucking kick them upside the head or some shit like that.

At least other games are trying to give you new and interesting ways of killing you, not the same old boring shoot them until they die bit.

Not only that, but Bungie doesn't make the game to excel in any particular subject. They all just slap it together and make it work.

The reason you don't see much "character" in UT3 or any UT game for that matter, is because UT is a multiplayer driven game. They make the game to excel at multiplayer and make things flawless. GoW had quite a bit of character in it in my opinion, just like Halo, but thats because the characters talked and acted to each other (moreso in GoW than Halo, from my observations).

I've got a PC to run UT3 so thats done. I'm not going to cancel my pre-order because if I don't like it I know I can at least make some money off of it. Get off of X3F? You wish. Grow up. Your post was great until that last bit. Oh well, practice makes perfect.

Actually, thats my whole point. I'm excited about Halo 3 coming out only because all the teenie boppers will go play that instead of my games. That way I wont have to put up with their crap cuz I dont want to play Halo 3, if i do, it wont be on Live. I also said it was overrated, and that the publicity was annoying. M'kay...so what I'm seeing is someone who is pointing out many things that are "mediocre" in Halo 3, things he wishes would be in Halo 3 yet he still will buy it.

I think it's funny how you say Halo 3 is mediocre and un-revolutionary, just more of the same - which makes it undeserving of all the press and attention; yet you offer UT3 as a game that IS revolutionay and deserving of the media's attention? Not to say UT isn't fun for a quick, run-and-gun deathmatch now and again, but COME ON! That has to be the pinnacle of mediocre, unrevolutionary, and same-ol same-ol. Obviously this is just opinion, but one thing is for sure: Halo 3 will be introducing a lot more new things than UT3 for the FPS genre. I believe Epic themselves said the idea of vehicles in UT came from the success of vehicles in Halo.

So, I ask you not to dispute my opinions, for I know they are subjective. But what makes UT3 so innovative and worthy and Halo 3 so undeserving?
