New Mario Galaxy scans show Boo costume, cubed planets

Shown in the new scans are cube- and torus-shaped planets, Mario in his bee costume and also a few images of Mario as a Boo. According to translations found on Go Nintendo, Bee Mario can use his stinger and Boo Mario will be left alone by other Boos (though one of the Boo Mario images show him apparently getting hurt by another Boo).
Also according to the translations -- we haven't verified the information ourselves, so we can't confirm its validity -- is that six worlds will be in the final game, each with multiple planets. Also, as per the usual post-N64 Mario game, Galaxy will feature 120 stars you can collect.
Super Mario Galaxy is hoping to move a few units when it's released November 12 in North America.

"...hoping to move a few units.."
HAH!
mr nimblewick @ Aug 10th 2007 4:41PM
Is that a female boo chasing after boo mario? First that star princess and now a ghost. That cad!
He can try his best to keep it, but there really is no secret.
TwEE @ Aug 10th 2007 6:56PM
No one else could see this apparition
But because of his condition
He fell in love with a little ghost and that was all
Anni @ Aug 10th 2007 8:03PM
You kids with your White Stripes references.
Awesome Stuff @ Aug 11th 2007 11:51AM
Whos using who? What should Mario do?
Well, he can't be a pimp and a prostitute, too
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Aug 10th 2007 4:43PM
On the Wii: cube-shaped planets.
On Nintendo's next console: hypercube-shaped planets?
A man can dream.

Pirate ships, magikoopas, Star Road...
Hello Super Mario Bros. 3! How've you been? We haven't seen you for a long time, old friend. Here, have a seat. I insist.
Crono @ Aug 10th 2007 4:47PM
Mario 3: Best mario game ever.
matt @ Aug 10th 2007 4:47PM
Er...replace "Star Road" with "Haunted Mansion" and all will make sense.
megaStryke @ Aug 10th 2007 4:50PM
Magikoopas and Star Road were in World, not Bros. 3.
megaStryke @ Aug 10th 2007 4:52PM
Even after your edit, you are still describing World. The only things haunted in Bros. 3 were the castles.

Whoops! How did THAT happen?
samfish @ Aug 10th 2007 4:53PM
I hope there's a level where two cube shaped planets are taped together.
Jake @ Aug 10th 2007 5:20PM
Ha. That would be awesome if Galaxy had a "planet" that was two Gamecube's duct taped together. It would be a legendary inside joke.

Its the reflection on the water. Bee Mario is flying over water.
bean @ Aug 10th 2007 4:56PM
is anyone concerned that this game might be shitty? I remember how excited I was about getting Mario 64...and that game rocked...this one, however, I see screenshots and videos and I'm not feeling it...
ZapBranigan @ Aug 10th 2007 5:20PM
No, not concerned this game will suck at all. This is tempting as a system seller.
beans @ Aug 10th 2007 6:37PM
system seller...RIGHT...I know I got my wii because of this game...I'm sure everyone is holding out almost a year to get the console JUST for this game...
belcho @ Aug 10th 2007 7:42PM
uh, well I am.
rockintom @ Aug 11th 2007 9:41AM
Er... This and Brawl *are* the only reasons why I have a wii.
Dan @ Aug 10th 2007 4:56PM
If there was first Mario 64, then 128 was supposed to be on the GCN, and Wii is GCNx2, then shouldnt this be Mario 256?
Word of the street. @ Aug 10th 2007 4:59PM
I loved Super mario world but Super mario 3 was special.
For me is a tie but man those giant level sin 3 where so cool.
hvnlysoldr @ Aug 10th 2007 5:01PM
I much preferred Pipe Land where they had screens you come out the other side old school style.
unfriendly_cat @ Aug 10th 2007 5:13PM
Wearing a Boo costume is all well and good, but can he go for the eyes?
rokubungi @ Aug 10th 2007 5:18PM
LOL nice Baldurs Gate ref.
yacjuman @ Aug 10th 2007 5:21PM
this game is going to rock :)

Best variation on the Mario avatar yet.
Mr Khan @ Aug 10th 2007 5:21PM
Boo Mario is like bringing the Vanish Cap back
My favorite power up of Super Mario 64!
Paul P. @ Aug 10th 2007 5:26PM
I hope there are some mobius strip shaped planets.
ThornedVenom @ Aug 11th 2007 4:02AM
Damn you mind-reader! I was about to comment the same thing! =P
And yeah, that'd be hell fun with torus planets. ^^
Jake @ Aug 10th 2007 5:32PM
The odd thing is that Galaxy could turn out to be this Fall's sleeper hit. It gets such little coverage compared to other high profile games, though mainly because Nintendo puts out such limited info on it.
It is also crazy that a Mario platformer is the most unique and original high profile game coming out this fall. I have never played a game where you run and jump around 3D planets while firing stars from the first person view with a pointer controller. I have never played anything remotely close to it.
Though the characters and basic concept are familiar, the core gameplay is anything but. The same can not be said for any other big budget fall game I can think of. I am not even that into platformers and am seriously looking forward to this title. My only fear is that Nintendo will make it easy to appeal to casuals. Damn casuals. ;)
Word of the street. @ Aug 10th 2007 5:38PM
In my memory Mario games have never been too difficult, only SM2 and 3 could be considered as hard.
Also I believe is because more people are hyping SSBB rather than Galaxy, yet it wont be a sleeper hit also is Nintendo fault they hype SSBB way too much while giving absolute zero info about other titles.I dont even know when Metroid Corruption is going to be released
Shagittarius @ Aug 10th 2007 6:40PM
"It is also crazy that a Mario platformer is the most unique and original high profile game coming out this fall. I have never played a game where you run and jump around 3D planets while firing stars from the first person view with a pointer controller. "
Except for the pointer controller yes, its called "Prey".
Give it a break it aint original.
SKI @ Aug 10th 2007 7:32PM
Have you ever played Prey? It's nothing even close to Galaxy in any way. The only thing similar is in Prey you can walk on walls and the ceiling.
Shagittarius @ Aug 11th 2007 2:27AM
I have played prey and I remember running around on small planets and using gravity to jump from planet to planet.
The question is have you played prey.
Abscissa @ Aug 11th 2007 2:11PM
Maybe it was just the demo, but Prey seemed agonizingly linear to me. Mario levels haven't been that linear for a long time.
Dan @ Aug 10th 2007 5:33PM
I wonder if these suits will somehow make it into Smash Bros Brawl.
Skippy @ Aug 10th 2007 5:41PM
I just hope it's better than Mario Sunshine. Am I the only one who found that game massively dissapointing? It felt like Mario 64 with a damn waterpack.
Jake @ Aug 10th 2007 5:49PM
Ugh. Please never bring up the water pack again. I'm still trying to forget.
WiNG @ Aug 10th 2007 5:55PM
You mean the F.L.U.D.D. pack??
colin @ Aug 10th 2007 7:53PM
i'm sorry, but i liked it. i liked it a lot.
colin @ Aug 10th 2007 7:56PM
and you can hate on the water pack, but seriously ... bee suit, raccoon tail, steel mario, boo suit ?!? ... isn't it all fairly odd in the scope of things?
Jake @ Aug 10th 2007 5:54PM
Yeah, you're right. Mario games have never been THAT challenging. I wasn't as good at games when I played everything from N64 back (I was a kiddy then), which is probably clouding my judgement a bit. But I am talking about REALLY fucking easy. That is my fear. I don't expect Ninja difficulty by any means.
Also, my term "sleeper hit" is a bit strong. But if you were to rate games according to Joystiq/Kotaku/ign articles per week, Galaxy would be way, way down on the list, despite its potential to be mad awesome.
Mr Khan @ Aug 10th 2007 6:06PM
Its going to be harder than 64/Galaxy at least
Even though, unless there's a black hole, you can't fall, you only have 3 chunks of health instead of 8, it makes it at least as easy to die as it was in Super Mario World (although there you had 4 if you counted Yoshi)
