the 360 is an awesome gaming machine.

the PS3 is an awesome blu-ray machine.

360 games > PS3 games.

HD-DVD < Blu-Ray.

decisions,decisions...

What bonehead is gonna buy this?

$100 more than a PS3, the HD DVD drive is not even integrated, and sits in a box next door, you can't even use it for games, and the format it supports is going down the pan.

Worst of all, it's a 90nm unit, that pretty much gaurenteed to fail.

If they sell even one of these, then people need putting down, as they are totally brain dead.

360 games currently> PS3 games.

Things are changing buddy. Whilst Halo3 disapponts, Haze impresses.

The PS3 lineup for the next 6 months totally outclass everything the 360 has to offer.

Stewie, just no.

Halo 3 and Mass Effect ALONE take on PS3's whole holiday lineup. NOT TO MENTION the rest of the absolutely ridiculous games available this holiday season.

Whey are people saying the PS3 has a good line-up coming? I'm interested in nothing on the PS3. Now or in the next year. Sony's probably crying that GTA4 was delayed.

PS3fanboys should go play their playstation. Problem is, there's nothing to play on it. I don't visit PS3fanboy to tell lies.

Didn't I have to buy some stupid dongle for my original xbox to watch movies? Couldn't have MS put an HDDVD drive in the 360 and did something similar?

Whatever, I play games on my 360 and lovin' it.

What the Hell is with these dumbasses saying the 90nm Xboxes are "almost guaranteed" to fail. Nothing but a PS3 fanboy, because even with the bloated failure rate (actually 20-25% if that. The things overheating is the consumer's fault) chances are IT WON'T. Do some fucking math before being a dumbass.

I have a 90nm unit from the fucking launch day, and hasn't frozen or quit once, let alone given me the RROD.

Hate to ruin that ps3 fanboy's day but Haze is coming to the 360 as well. While you're waiting for Haze I've been playing quality games since day one of 360 launch. Is it just me or is the first line of defense for a ps3 fanboy to note the fact that the bluray is selling better player and movie wise? What the fuck do movies have to do with video games. Bah whatever, I'm glad the 360 isn't a jack of all trades but master of none like the ps3.

@ Stewie

As someone who owns BOTH an elite and a 60 Gb Ps3 I will tell you right now, that the 360 games coming out this season will blow the PS3 out of the water. I'm dissapointed that Lair got pushed back, because now it will be in the clutter with all of the other great games. It's unfortunate because now I won't play it for another 6 months because of all the new great games I'll have to take its place.

A15 its a lot more than that my friend the 30%comes from retail stores it doesnt include every system thats sent through MS and other repair shops. Every 360 sold fom launch to today has a the same problem just a matter of time before it crashes the long hours of halo3 might just do it. MS wouldnt sit by and let retailers drag the quality of there systems through the pile of shit its going through. MS cant release a lie on the % because if they do and people finds out down the line MS will be sued a by crap load of people. producer negligence

I have both a 360 and a PS3, and I think one of the biggest complains people have for the PS3 is it's price. MS says it's offering options to the gaming community, while Sony is forcing users into the higher price. But MS's strategies (HD and HD-DVD optional) are causing problems for developers. In reality their (relatively straightforward) strategy is to get you to buy a ton of accessories, so you feel like it's cheaper to start with.

As for games, that's neither here nor there because Sony got a late start, and much like the PS2, the PS3 is hard to program for (but people can get great results out of it if they put in the effort). So, the games will come, and there's lots of talk developers will soon start on the PS3 and port over to the 360.

Either way, I do wish I had more games for my PS3. It's the only system I actually have, as my 360 decided to go belly up on me. I have more 360 games and tons of fun playing them, but as a package, I think the PS3 is a better deal.

O yes thanks to the fact that i have pretty sweet PC i can buy bio shock while i wait for the better 360 model with a heat sink. why did people buy an xbox 360? why do people buy PS3s? its all the same damn reason, for established franchises that there used to seeing on the previous consoles. Halo2 and other FPS and its sheer power compared to other consoles is what sold the original xbox. it just looks like the tables have turned with the PS3 suffering from the original xboxs problems(except for killing babies), and the 360 benifting from what the PS2 had(recal). From launch people bought the 360 in hopes of having Halo3 the other games like GoW and Bio Shock is a must if you hope to survive the console war. People want a PS3 for the great franchises that were built on the PS1 to the PS2. why do you think MS jumped in and made sure they got some of them. The PS3 has only had 2 bad games and that was on launch Genji and Gundam crossfire the 360 had Perfect dark and Kameo(i didnt like it) and those 2 games were developed by MS devs and the rest were multiplatform games that had less content. GRAW and Condemned(360 exclusive) were good. PS3 is going to have good games and a lot of good maybe not great games but good ones to compliment the great games coming in 08 :) . The 360 is slowly creating great franchises on there consoles instead of depending on 3rd parties.Games like Mass Effect, Allen Wake, Halo RTS, some nice RPGS well rouned console. The wii is not included in next gen, its competition is the PS2 which is selling very well. I dont even use the Blu ray player. This whole comparing what systems has better game things is getting old, when somebody doesnt like MGS4 or Halo3 your emediatly called a fanboy when you explain why you dont like it.

From a gamer who has all three consoles i can say this. The xbox 360, like the PS3 now, didn't have good games really until Ghost Recon. The ps3, which has two good games currently (motorstorm and resistance(which resistance is mediocre, 6.9/10)). But lets not all forget our history, Call of Duty 2 in my opinion was mediocre and was the only game i had for months on my 360, but recieved an 8.8/10. The PS3 needs time, if you compare 360 one year ago to ps3 currently they are nearly neck and neck in terms of game quality.

PS3 currently is the better overall multimedia system, whereas the Xbox360 has supperior online, games, and a user friendly dashboard (which in my opinion is worth 50 dollars per year, which in any case is a break compared to WOW). PS3 is built for the future,(blu-ray, bluetooth, and an interchangable hdd along with multimedia card slots). Xbox 360 offers the option to adopt their next-gen format (HD-DVD) along with other things like (wi-fi, which personally i don't mind not having, rechargable batteries for controllers, and a bigger hdd). Xbox offers these things at a significant price when you compare to PS3, but overall, you don't need those things for gaming on your xbox really(besides rechargable battery pack). So overall gaming wise xbox is the better choice, but ps3 is the better investment into the future.

Format wise, there really is no difference besides storage space. Blu-ray dominates in this aspect, but because it does it costs more to manufactor blu-ray than hd-dvd. Overall both formats are the same, and they wont kill each other off, it will end up with a split market, and either the companies will come to a settlement or one will (unlikely) kill the other off.

Do those of you trying to shift the focus on to the fact that the 360 has more games than the PS3 realize that this bundle is SOLELY intended to get rid of those HD-DVD add-on players?

MS thinks that HD movies are important to people, so they're providing a bundle that can perform the same things as a PS3 for...OH NO! the same price as a PS3!

I may be somewhat drunk, but seriously, you people quickly lose focus. At this point in time, the 360 has "better" games (how long did you have to wait for Gears, and Halo 2 is not a 360 game), and the PS3 is the better HD movie player. But just wait a couple more weeks, and then you can start comparing games.

Until then, quit yer bitchin'!

The Bad Part is that HD-DVD looks to be losing the Next Format War in a bad way.

So getting an HD-DVD player is kind of like wasting money. But it will look nice next to your Beta-Max and Laser Disc Player.

Also $599 for this Really Spells out the Fact that the 360 is more money than the PS3.
This is Feature for Feature a PS3 with No Wireless and No Memory Card Reader. With the 60Gig PS3 going for $499 this Really seems like a Rip-Off. Since if I add the Wireless it is $699 for this 360???

360s Do Fail.
Zues "The things overheating is the consumer's fault" Not Really.
Any Consumer Electronic Device should be designed to operate in a minimally Ventilated Entertainment Center. The 360 is Not.

My Launch 360 is still going strong, but when I had my 360 in my Entertainment Center it would Shut Off after 3 hours of gaming. I since moved it out of my Entertainment Center.

I hope mine keeps going especially with Halo3 coming out Next Month. But I can honestly say I have been in Fear of Red Ring Death, thankfully I have a longer warranty now.
