Let's see here...Charizard...Venasaur...Squirtle? This looks like the set from the Indigo League cartoon series. Without Butterfree though.

It's Ivysaur, the Stage 1 Pokémon, not Venusaur, the Stage 2 Pokémon.

In the anime, Ash's Squirtle and Bulbasaur never evolved. Only his Charmander did (which eventually became Charizard).

The Brawl Pokémon Trainer is the playable male trainer from FireRed/LeafGreen, which is a remake of the original GB games. Hence, he's using the three Kanto region starter Pokémon.

That is pretty cool, especially how he sits on the sidelines. Though when I first saw the three pokemon I almost thought they might control like Ice Climbers.

This is by far the most unique, not to mention strangest, character in the Smash Bros. universe yet.

Final Smash will definitely be some trio tag-team attack.

I'm guessing the players Pokemon will be withdrawn and not-Ash throws out some playable legendary or something.

Which would be hot.

Final Smash is maybe he throws a pokeball at the enemy and catches them in it!

Glorified cockfighting ftw!!!

oh man I used to have dreams about this kind of stuff... The dream kind of died when I got older and when ruby/sapphire came out but it's still nice to see it finally fulfilled.

My question is: How would Red work on stages similar to PokeFloats or Mute City?

This should be good now and it would be even more awesome that instead of a change of color, not only the trainer changes but the pokemon he uses too...for example (RED)Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard (BLUE)Totodile, Bayleef, Typhlosion, (GREEN)Mudkip, Grovyle, Blaziken (YELLOW) Piplup, Grotle, Infernape....

And yes I am a Nintendo fanboy.

Charizard is a Fire/Flying type. Typhlosion Fire, Blaziken and Monferno Fire/Fighting. Charizard has dragon moves. Mudkip would have people using I/you like mudkipz all the time. The starters are different enough that they can't really be swapped. And you call yourself a fanboy. Go back to the Pokemon Academy and tell me when Pidgey evolves!

Well I know of those differences, but I suppose they could use some elemental firemoves for all 3, but yet again that was just a suggestion...I am just waiting for King K. Rool to be announced somehow. :)

You can see that the two are rather different looking (and, it also shows the evolution of Ken Sugimori's art style over the years).

HAHAHA Metapod final smash attack !!Harden!! LMFAO!! i cant beleive it, u guys crack me up. But the new "Ash" character sounds pretty cool. It kinda follows the series being Charizard the only one of the three starters Ash evolved. But the character has to be named Ash 4 gods sake. He looks pretty much alike. Besides hasnt Ash earned enough name on the movies and series as for him to get on Smash Brawl??! C'mon nintendo give the guy a chance

Smash Bros characters are taken from games not cartoons. The closest thing to Ash/Satoshi appearing in any game I can think of was Pokemon Yellow, but this guy is taken from FR/LG not a super old Game Boy game so he's not Ash at all.

I expected them to get rid of Pichu ("Red" will probably replace him), but my replacement bets were on Lucario, since he got that movie and has good proportions for a controlable fighter

This is unexpected, and completely awesome. They're thinking outside the box this time

Next up: Captain Olimar?

hm...I cold see the final smash being something where he would throw 7 or so pokeballs out (same as the in-game items) and they would all come out being even stronger and working on his side

"Red"'s final smash will either be some sort of Tri-Attack using all three, or maybe summoning a Lengendary for a minute or two (think Bowser's Final Smash). Im not sure what legendary could be used though: Really only Mewtwo fits that bill, but last time he was a full-on character.

Anyway, seeing this brings back memories. The last Pokemon game I played was Gold, and I was thinking about getting Diamond or Pearl, but then I see all of these hidden stats and breeding bonuses and cross-game trading... it's like the games I loved as a kid are gone now...

Interesting... Instead, he warms up the bench and issues commands to his three Pokémon.

Maybe Olimar will be able to issue commands to three pikmin.
