Bust out the eye-liner, paramilitary garb and misplaced anger: A three-pack of My Chemical Romance songs have just hit the Xbox Live Marketplace. If you haven't darkened a Hot Topic door in a few years, the rest of this sentence won't make sense to you, but "Teenagers," "Famous Last Words" and "This is How I Disappear" (all from The Black Parade) are included in the pack.
The price is 500 points ($6.25) for the new songs, which are master tracks from the band. We don't understand why these cost the same as the Guitar Hero I rehashes, but we have to say this is a much better value for some great songs, sure to brighten the day of even the most tortured emo kid.
[Thanks, Dylan]

Well, well, well - it looks like a lot of the Metallica fan boys have come out to play and post their opinion about music they don't even listen to ~ MCR rox!

I thought only 13-15 year old girls liked them. Are you a young female that fits that demographic?

Come on. Not all bands that are popular now made crap before. It's like saying Weezer is crap because Beverly Hills is popular. Granted their new album is meh, but their old stuff is absolutely amazing, same with MCR.
Yes teenage girls like the new stuff...

Yep, MCR jumped front and center with The Black Parade, and because of that, they get hate.
I for one applaud a band who takes on a concept album, but like Green Day, a well-constructed concept album is easy to listen to, and because of that, fits in with a larger audience and becomes popular. For most hardcore gamers, pop=death.
Oh well, hate if you will; there is a lot worse out there currently.
On topic, normally I spit fire about the price of the song packs, but for once, they are including new songs. I feel insulted paying that price for songs from GH1, but I don't know what to think about this yet...

Thank you.. Green Day is my favorite band, and I'm sick of hearing all of the negative things. It's always "Old Green Day is good... American Idiot sucks." When half of everyone I talked to can't mention a song that isn't from Dookie, and can't name a song that wasn't a music video or on the radio.
Nowadays it's just cool to follow what everyone says. "Green Day/MCR sucks" "Yeah they do!"... Doesn't that go against the whole idea of being punk? I'm just sick of idiots shooting off their mouths to be one of the "cool kids".

Yeaaaah. Number one, MCR and Green Day are not punk. But then, you're the exact market those bands cater to, Dragod, becuase you'll believe that bullshit. I agree, Green Day used to be good. Used to as in their last good album was Insomniac and then they went the prom route. Green Day was a good band, yes, but never a punk band. But then so many are are too young or don't even care to remember what real punk rock was all about. It sure as hell wasn't about "Time of Your Life" and attempts at "concepts" such as American Idiot. Even the mighty Clash fell when they issued the godawful, three-album disaster Sandinista! But even that crapper is better than American Idiot. Go figure.

First of all, why are we getting MCR when REAL bands like Metalica and Marilin Manson are not on GHII?? Not to mention that they are still charging $6.08 for a mere 3 songs.......WTF!!! SINGLE PRICED SONGS, RED OCTANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many times does this need to be said!!!!
P.S. YOU CALL THIS "NEW" CONTENT?????????

And Dead! is my favorite song off of The Black Parade, once I saw it was on the 360 track list it convinced me to buy the game. That's how much I love their music.

I detect as much angst in the replies to this post as MCR claims to have. I think 'Dead!' is one of the more fun songs to play. But that's just me.

Those of you complaining about this song pack, think you're so cool? If you don't like MCR then why don't you pick up a real guitar, find like-minded individuals to play music with, completely change the path you planned on taking in life, become world famous (Before the devs neglect GH2) and release your own song pack just so you can play what you've already written and recorded on your TV.
Gosh, some people are so unreasonable.

Oh Matt, kudos to you fro dragging out the "pull out a real guitar" argument. Golf claps all around for that bit of wisdom. As a guitarist myself who has indeed written his own songs, I, and everyone else in agreement here are allowed to think MCR sucks when it comes to "rock" music, and being thrown onto this game in particular. Being a real guitarist or not has nothing to do with this; it's the idea that anyone over 18 would find these songs worthy of "playing." What's next? The entire contents of the latest NOW That's What I Call Music! CD? It wouldn't surprise me.

How about giving us some GOOD songs from GOOD bands to download? Instead of giving us whatever MTV PAYS you to give us.

All you guys defending MCR ask yourself this...Where does a band like MCR fit in the future of rock n roll history? If there was an exchange system like Wall Street that determined a band's longevity, influence, and sales I would put MCR in the category of a Poison. Poison had a huge following in the 80's, there were plenty of folks that loved their music, Poison made a grip of money. Now Poison fans look back at their pictures from the 80's they see their hair, their clothes, and their old record collection and say "WTF was I thinking?". That in a nutshell is MCR in this point in time in their history. They are trendy, their music is catchy, they try too hard to appeal to a trendified, niche audience. The Beatles were that too and they decided to become artists and not just performers with catchy tunes and change their entire personas, if MCR decides to take that route more power to them. If not then their criticism is warranted due to their lack of innovation, and artistic progression. Sorry MCR fans that's just the way it is.

you shut your whore mouth about poison! jk (though those cheese cock rock songs would be kinda fun to play on gh) At least this is a misguided step in the right direction. With all the ozzy (bands featuring) in both gh s u would think that he would have been a prime candidate for a song pack. after all those f*%k ugly kids could use some cash for surgery or rehab.;)

I agree with you to a point. When a band takes a certain sound and squeezes every last cent from it, they then disappear save for a few devoted followers. From "I Brought You My Bullets..." to "Three Cheers...", I felt that was exactly what was happening, and that the next MCR album would me more of the same.
It surprised me that they went concept on "The Black Parade", and completely departed from the general repetitive sound of their earlier albums. The test will be their next album in my opinion, for "The Black Parade" showed how MCR is not afraid to play to their Classic Rock influences with an album that was dynamic and cohesive.
And as far as predicting the future of rock, how does anyone know where a band will fit in the future of rock and roll history? That measure is not really apparent until it is actually "history", yes?
I seem to recall someone who we see now as a total freaking lunatic was once named "The King of Pop". I also remember a band whose memorabilia was burned in every southern state that went on to promote Socialism during the Cold War go down as the greatest band that has ever been.
I'm sorry Leobebes, but I think most of your criticism of MCR is based on how they look, and an often repeated single on the radio. I'm not defending MCR as teh greatast band evar!, but after listening to "The Black Parade", I can't agree that MCR lacks innovation or artistic progression, for that was really the main driving force behind that album. They still have a long way to go, and like 95% of the bands out there now, will probably not make it.

Farseer, I know what you are trying to say, but here is my grip if MCR was all about their music then what is the deal with the over the top, decorative facade? I take a look a the picture above and you know what I see? Smashing Pumpkins from Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness. I see a poser band emulating trying their darnedest to emulate Queen which was a band that did not take themselves too seriously therefore making it part of their appeal. These guys go out of their way to stamp their influences on their forehead and luck subtlety, therefore making them the most derivative artists since Weird AL. If MCR fans think its all about their music, then tell them to stop parading around in costumes and wannabe goth makeup and get ups especially if they claim they are not EMO punk.

Life too hard for you? then kill yourselves and spare us the pain of listening to this garbage music on top of the other atrocious rock that has come around in the last 5-10 years

All I gotta say is... When I picked up GH II for the first time I ran into a strange 'bug'. I finished 3 songs of the first tier and even played the encore, but the game wouldn't open up the second set list. There was one song still left unplayed by a certain girl band in the 80's.
Practically crying the whole time, I played that horrible piece of fluff that I never wanted to hear again just to try and get past the bug. I did, but I still have some post traumatic stress disorder from the ordeal.
All I'm saying is, if GH II can shove We Got The Beat down my throat, having a MCR pack isn't the worst thing in the world. At least you get to choose whether or not you play it. I wish there was some way I could permanently delete that song from my GH II game. Besides, it could have been worse...it could have been Nelson Pack. :-)

I rarely comment on here, but I have to come down on the side of the emo kids here. I'm 28 and have been listening to music for as long as I can remember. For years I only stuck to unsigned punk 'cause I was so over the music industry. I always figured My Chemical Romance was just another bunch of douchebags in black, but then I actually listened to them and it turns out they're a lot of fun.
Some music is just fun to listen to. It might not break any new ground or change lives or challenge me intellectually, but it passes the time and makes me nod my head up and down. Give 'em a break.
Just this morning Dead! rolled onto my iPod and I thought, 'this would be a great Guitar Hero song.' Turns out it already is and I'm missing out 'cause I'm playing it on PS2.
Here's an idea for Activision: make us a disk of these downloadable tracks a la Rock the 80's, but don't charge us $50 for it. Anybody else in?

first of all, to the retard that said that MCR is punk
pfft no, they are not punk okay. they are alternative.
its a genre, & to the person that said hip-hop is about hoes & stuff, only some of it is. have you listened to old skool hip-hop? its actually pretty good [[this is comeing from someone who likes The Adicts, Sex Pistols, The Casualties & also MCR & The Used because I think they're pretty good]]
I have respect for anyone who makes up their own lyrics & music. Not any Hilary Duff crap. No fake stuff.
So just stop bashing on them okay & MCR s not emo. If you want to hear emo, then listen to Simple Plan or Hawthorne Heights. Really, they are emo. & when your done w/ that listen to MCR again & compare.
Thank you & have a nice day!
