"The PS3 difference.: Sadly, just like with NCAA Football 08 and All-Pro Football 2K8, PS3 owners are stuck with an inferior version of Madden. While the game runs at 60 frames per second on Microsoft's box, Madden only clocks in at 30fps on Sony's console. The result? The gameplay isn't nearly as smooth as the 360 version and even stutters at times (see the difference in this comparison video). And that's the reason why we're scoring the PS3 edition slightly lower."

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/812/812702p1.html
"For PS3 owners, this isn't as exciting. Madden 08 runs (sometimes) at 30 frames per second. It makes a huge difference, as you lose a lot of the subtleties in the animations. There are plenty of framerate hitches that will likely frustrate players. This can cause a lag in the Hit Stick sometimes. And, let's face it, no one wants to see a runningback pause for a second in mid air as the framerate stutters. You can still play and mostly enjoy Madden, but beware that on PS3 the game does not run smoothly."

"Closing Comments
Madden NFL 08 on PS3 is no a great game. It is a shadow of its cousin on 360. Though the feature set is identical, the drop to an unstable 30fps hurts considerably. The visuals and the gameplay suffer. If you are a real Madden nut and think you can fight through the framerate issues, Madden is an overall good game. It just doesn't run very well."

Joystiq always gets its news from other sources. Joystiq is a melting pot of game news gathered from all over the place. They don't go out and "make" the news, unless they're at a press conference or major event.

Joystiq is a blog. This means that it is a news aggregator (with commentary), not a *source* of news.

"make it's own news"? You mean like Fox News? Gamespot gave them both 8.5 in their reviews although they did state the 360 frame rate was much better which dorks like us already knew. IMO that should have made the PS3 version get less of a score but who the hell cares. I don't own a PS3 so I would get the 360 version...Although I'm not going to.

I'm pretty sure EA and MS are in some sort of agreement to promote each other products.

If you notice in all the Madden and NCAA commericals people are playing on XB360 and the XB360 logo is always shown after the commercial.

NOT the PS3 logo.

The Xbox 360 is the established console, and thusly is more widely accepted. Not to mention the larger user base. It's in the same situation the PS2 was last gen.

Most commercials for multiplatform games do not display the PS3 logo, but in stead use the Playstation Family logo. The same is true for PS2.

Wasnt it USA today that mentioned that the 360 is a defective piece of junk? So lets see, somewhat inferior version of a lousy franchise on a rock-solid console versus better version on a crappy machine that might blow up anytime.

"Just wait until [insert favorite PS3 game you've been waiting on forever"
Its about 10 months from launch, and maybe 4-5 decent games. I am just curious to know how it was with your "easier to program for" 360, I believe you had like 10 or 20 great titles to choose from in August last year? Like Perfect dark zero, kameo, 99 nights?

Bottomline is...the game plays well enough on both and

LMAO @ douchebox. That's so ridiculous it's funny.

I compared the reviews at IGN, and to be honest, none of them are getting ratings that are mind blowing. It seems they've dished everyone a fine plate of mediocre.

This is the perfect reason why a lack of competition isn't good. Madden's a cash cow, so it doesn't matter how the game turns out. It just sucks that the consumer doesn't get the oppotunity to choose.

I mean, why aren't these people petitioning to get all their money back on the PS3 in general? It makes more sense then this! SNARF!

It is what it is.

One sports team may look much better on paper than another but all that matters is what happens on the field.

It is what it is.

On paper the PS3 is said to be more advanced than the 360 but I don't really care about what's on paper. I care about the final results. I care about the games that are released that I purchase.

They are what they are.

Is the PS3 is better on paper but the games released for the 360 play and look better then paper aside, the 360 is better.

And as for saying that EA purposely made the PS3 version inferior as part of some conspiracy I'm pretty sure than this RUMOR was started by some Sony fan who has a hard time accepting reality.

And why is it Sony fans always say the same old thing when news like this is reported? "What doess [x publication] know about games?" Apparently they knew enough after they got their hands on it, made a comparison and came to a conclusion. Shit, that sort of thing's hard to do! But god forbid this kind of story might be realyed to the general mass population instead of the gamers visiting IGN, because we all know that's the true majority. Sheesh.

We all know that the 360 is the standard of next gen

-the network experience-set the standard for other consoles
-better exclusives (Gears of War,Lost Planet)
-previous ps2 owners went for the next best thing, the 360

All of this builds up a large install base.. and you create to please the majority PS fans will have to wait... GOOD games are the key! lets step it up SEA!!! forget EA Sports and Capcum
