Maybe I'm just a console FPS noob, but I found the demo to be pretty hard even on medium difficulty.

The game is difficult enough as it is. Maybe I'm just a pathetic little chump, but I played the game on Normal, and the intense difficulty of this game so close to the start of the game is slightly putting me off from buying it. Based on my experience playing it, it would be way too confusing to do more than half the things the end-of-demo movie was showcasing (setting traps, etc).

I personally did not find it difficult. Just take your time and look around the corners... They do intend for you to use the trial and error (die and die again method) but any see where the shotgun might be because I found some shells on a few play throughs. Hollow points for the pistol as well.

The demo was a condensed version of the beginning of the game. Plasmids are not available so soon and I'm sure the difficulty ramps up. That being said, if you are careful and learn a few tricks (such as hacking bots) you should be able to beat the demo on hard without too much trouble.

I was excited to try the hard difficulty but it seems that the enemies are just a lil bit harder to take down. Still overall it's an easy demo, still excited about the game. I haven't died on the demo once even on hard, I'll probably die on purpose tonight to see what happens.

I thought the game would be much harder even on medium, I'm sure the retail version will be. Big Daddys, nuff said.

after you select demo the hard mode is already selected...just press the A button right away.

Atlas says plasmids made everyone in rapture mad...i guess at the end of the game the main character goes mad as well (keeps injecting himself with plasmids)

The demo was freaking amazing. This thing has GOTY potential. If you don't have a 360 or PC, get to a friend's house and at least try this game. It is really cool. Visually stunning with tight gameplay. The atmosphere is so awesome I wouldn't doubt to see a movie made based on this game.

I thought the difficulty was appropriate. I would not have gotten through the last part with all the drones and psychos without the stock of Adam, machine gun rounds, and health packs that I had built up during easier stretches. Also, hacking the bots is key to survival.

If I were to change anything about the game, I would give some of the magic attacks aiming forgiveness. If you miss slightly with the electric bolt, it jets over to shock them anyways. The gun aiming seemed appropriately difficult, but I would rather the magic was easier to aim and just became more a question of strategy rather than precise aim.

Another thing I worry about is ammo/adam rationing. I get frustrated with limited ammo sometimes. I hope Bioshock isn't a game where you pass an area but decide to restart because you had to use too many health packs and adam syringes to get past the next area.

Regardless, this game absolutely rocks.

The only thing that bugged me was the fact that if you had your gun out, you had to pull your magic attack twice to get it to shoot. I think it should just attack with whatever magic you have currently equipped at the pull of the trigger.

I got killed a couple times because of that.

Umm, Hard Mode was unlocked when I beat the demo...

It even said something about it at the end of the advertisement at the end - "Now you can play again on hard mode!" or something.

It takes you back to the title screen, and sure enough, I could pick hard mode. I haven't gone back in to see if I still could, but I doubt it since the demo doesn't save anything to the HD as I recall.

But yeah... I don't think this was a bug...

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Stranglehold demo?

I had the same thing happen to me on my second run through it. I took my time a bit and took out all the enemies in the demo. There are quite a few that only appear after you've explored an area completely, rather than just charging right through it. I didn't take much damage either and grabbed all the items there were to find. After finising it gave me a similar message about Hard mode being unlocked, so it's definitely achievable if you persevere a bit :)

I knew I wasn't crazy! Also, considering the fact I hadn't gotten around to the Stranglehold demo when I left that comment, I don't think that was the problem.

I am certain that I unlocked hard mode in the Bioshock demo, and it must have to do with me also being absolutely sure to kill everything, collect everything, and go to every corner.

what is the difference between adam and eve? I thought eve is the stuff that lets you shoot your plasmids, and then you have the health packs. what is adam?

I think Adam is health, Eve is magic/plasmid

Did anybody else see the trailer that appears when you let you the menu screen idle for a minute or two? Worth a watch if you didn't :)

I found it pretty easy on medium. Are you guys using your plasmids correctly? At the end, you should zap them all as they jump down into the water by the stairs. Or, hit them with fire so they'll go running to the water, then zap them.
