It's no surprise that Activision is putting a lot of thought into getting git-box game Guitar Hero III on the go, but exactly how they plan on doing it may be a little clearer after a new interview with RedOctane cofounder Charles Huang. He says that a special peripheral on the DS is "definitely one of the options" they're exploring, adding, "the DS peripheral is very intriguing to us. It's an integral part of the Guitar Hero experience, so as much as possible, we would like to keep it within the experience as long as it makes sense and it plays well."
Dearest Activision, unless you already have a patent firmly squared away, we would like to humbly offer our prototype as seen above. Please contact us for the mailing address where you can send the giant novelty check for $1 billion dollars.

I hate to say this because I love the game, but the first time I hear those buttons slamming while some kid plays on an airplane flight and I'm probably going to be arrested.
That is if the buttons are as loud as they are on my Xplorers.

Finally, I'll be able to play Guitar Hero on the street corner with my hat out for money. Everyone will appreciate my furious fretwork.
(Everyone, that is, except the whiner real guitar players. My buddy was good at both, and loved them both. Please stop the whining.)

Yeah, it always confused me when people that played real guitar got defensive toward Guitar Hero. It's like they're mad that they can't really shred as well as you can in the game.

How's about a Guitar pick with a stylus tip?
But a full-size guitar for DS would be excellent as well.

A peripheral idea? Here's one (untested, so highly probable to be horrible): A miniature guitar neck with frets which plugs into the GBA port, fret side facing front. The frets should be at the same level as the touch screen.
With that setup, you could theoretically jam out by strumming the screen with a rounded pick (included) and hitting fret buttons as if you were playing a miniature ukulele. Since you'll be playing it on your lap, the scrolling cues would be displayed on the top screen, but to make them scrolling in the right direction, they'd have to be scrolling upside down compared to the DS' "normal" orientation.
